Good morning PokerStrategy.com, and welcome to the live ticker for PokerStars.com EPT Copenhagen!

My name is Jimmy, and earlier this morning I arrived here in Copenhagen to give you all the updates from the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Copenhagen through out the week. I will do my best to see to it that you get all the details from our Team players, other PokerStrategists and some of the famous pros. There will of course as well be pictures posted during the week!

  • The Event

:diamond: Last year the EPT Copenhagen saw a total of 423 players, making the total prize pool DKK 14,212,800 paying the top 56 players. The winner of last years event was the young Swede Anton Wigg, who pocketed the neat little sum of DKK 3,675,000 ($672,205).

:diamond: The event itself is played in Casino Copenhagen and features a maximum of 500 players, it remains to be seen how many players decide to pay the buy in of DKK 35,000 + 2,250 ($6250) this year. Later this week there will also be side events, such as the DKK 15,000 + 1,200 2-day event.

:diamond: In the Main Event we will see two starting days, Day 1A and Day 1B. As stated in the first post of this thread, all of our Team PokerStrategy.com members will be playing on Day 1B, wich means today I will try to find other interesting players to follow, and I will of course do my best to try to find PokerStrategists playing Day 1A.

  • Day 1A:
  • :diamond: We are going to start the first day at 12:00 CET. The starting stack is 30k, with the blinds beeing 50/100 during the first level of play, and the blind levels beeing 60 minutes long during the two starting days, and 75 minutes there after.

    • Team PokerStrategy.com Players:
    • :diamond: We have 4 players representing Team PokerStrategy.com, and they will all be starting on Day 1B. The players are:

      • Other PokerStrategists:
      • :diamond: Right now I am only aware of 3 other PokerStrategists playing the Main Event, but I will update this list through out the event when I run in to more PokerStrategists:

        • Gerv (no info)
        • GoMore21 (no info)
        • HenrikX (Day 1B)
        • cYde
        • MarkusOwnH
        • HhCMotU23

Some of you might remember HenrikX from the live ticker of last summers WSOP Main Event, where he placed 68th, bringing over $114k home to Sweden. Lets hope for another success here in Copenhagen.

Thats it for now, I will be back as soon as the tournament starts, with the first updates of the event. Right now I am going to go familiarize with the playing area, and make sure that I find my way between the tables.

        Regards,
        //Grindithard

One of the popular attractions in Copenhagen, Nyhavn.
It has lots of bars and restaurants alongside, and the canal is packed with wooden ships.

Sortedams Sø, Copenhagen

One of the lakes in Copenhagen. Paths around it are popular with storllers and runners

As it seems, our team player simon1989 is playing Day 1A instead, and he is currently sitting on table 35, together with last years winner Anton Wigg and Anette Obrestad, and so far they dont seem to have been involved in any big pots.

Gomore21 is also in the seating draw for Day 1A, and I will make sure to keep an eye on his table as well.

Other notable names spotted playing Day 1A is Jonny Lodden and Theo Jorgensen,

Simon 1989 has won one pot, when 3-betting with KJ and flopping the nuts, his stack is up to about 35k from the starting stack of 30k.

Gomore21 played one pot as I was watching the table.

He limped in for 100 chips and saw a flop of A :spade:5 :spade:7 :spade:, and it was checked round. The turn came J , and Gomore21 had to fold to a bet of 350.

Simon1989 is active again.

From UTG+1 he raises it up to 275, with the big blind beeing 100, and he gets 3 calls, from Anette Obrestad in MP, and from CO and BU.

Flop comes T :spade: T :diamond: 7 :spade:.

Simon1989 checks to Anette, who fires 700 in to the pot of about 1200. CO calls, and Simon1989 calls.

Turn comes 3 :club:

This time Simon1989 bets 1900 into the pot of about 2600, wich makes both his opponents fold.

The hand after he raises again to 275, annd this time he gets 4 calls, from Anette, MP3, BU, and BB.

Flop is 9  5 :spade: 3 :diamond:

Its checked around after the flop, and the turn card is 9 :diamond:

Its checked to MP2 who bets 600, and folded to Simon1989 who also throws his cards in the muck. When it comes to BB he check/raises to 1600, wich makes MP2 fold.

Second blind level, 75/150, just started 2 minutes ago.

Simon1989 has been staying active:

He raised on BU with blinds 75/150, BB 3-betted him and Simon1989 called.

Flop came out ATx rainbow, BB bet out, and Simon1989 called. Turn was x and the same story again, BB bets, Simon1989 calls. River comes a 9, and this time BB checks to Simon1989 who fires 11k in to the pot of 9k. Thats enough to make BB fold, and Simon1989 wins another nice pot.

A little while after he wins a smallish pot with KK, against Anette Obrestad.

I will try to get his exact chipstack, but its hard to count it.

Still no news from Gomore21.

Simon1989 is up to 40k, while Gomore21 is down only 600 chips. Not a lot of action from him so far.

Just spotted Gus Hansen having a chat with Theo Jorgensen by table 22. Gus dont seem to be registered so far today, but he might be playing tomorrow I guess.

Finally we also managed to catch Simon1989 on picture. Together with Anette Obrestad and last years winner Anton Wigg.

Close up on last years winner Anton Wigg:

Also we got a picture of former WSOP Main Event winner Peter Eastgate, who recently decided to make a comeback on the professional poker scene. He doesnt seem to pay much attention to the tables, but it could be him working on his image?

Simon1989 just played a huge pot. I arrived to the table just as the cards were about to be mucked, but I managed to see that Simon1989 had QKo and was up against AA. JTx x x on the flop, wich took a huge chunk out of Simons stack.

The first break starts in just a minute, and I will try to get some more comments from him about the hand and the details!

Just had a quick chat with Simon1989, and he explained that the hand went down like this:

Simon1989 opened to 400, and the player two positions after him raised to 1,300, Simon made it 3,500, and that triggered a 5-bet to 7,500, after wich Simon 6-bet shoved and got called.

And as stated, the board gave him an open ender on the flop, but no more help on the turn or river.

He is down to somewhere between 16-17k.

He said about his table that other than last years winner Anton Wigg and Anette Obrestad there was one good player, and that was the exact player he was up against in this hand.

The players are now on a 15 minute break, but we will be back with more pictures and updates shortly!

The game is on again, with the blinds going up to 100/200, and the chipstacks for some of the players are:

  • Simon1989: 17k
  • Gomore21: 31k
  • Anton Wigg: 25k

After the break our players havent been very active, but Anton Wigg who is still sitting at Simons table managed to win a decent sized pot with a straight, and at the same time he took one of the players from the table out of the tournament.

He is now up to somewhere in the ranges of 35-40k.

Apart from that the pace seem to be pretty slow in the room, with a lot of relaxed players that are sitting back, listening to music, getting massage and so on. Pics up in a minute.

Gomore21 played one small hand while I was watching the table.

MP opened to 600 with the blinds beeing 100/200, and SB called before Gomore21 called in the Big Blind.

The flop came 2TJ rainbow, and both SB and Gomore21 checked, and MP fired a continuation bet wich made both SB and Gomore21 fold.

He seems to be steady around the starting stack 30k, while Simon1989 is in folding mode and hanging on to his 17k.

A few more chipstacks (counted from the rail, so could be a bit inaccurate):

Peter Eastgate: 25k
Anette Obrestad: 25k
Theo Jorgensen: 16k
