Did I overplay this? I know nothing of the villians.Should I have called shove?

If villain is a fish, you should have called flop, bet turn imo.

Moved your thread to correct spot. :)

About the hand rather Call the flop, we even have the position and we shouldn't be scared of a lot hands. We can anyways ship the turn, shipping the flop might scare away a lot weaker hands. Also he might even ship himself on turn.
