Step up... to the WSOP! [GAME OVER!]

I guess it's that time of the day again!

Was hoping to play some morning games today but that epically failed when I woke up 40 minutes before my shift started at work! I'm always more tired when I sleep in, than if I have my normal amount of sleep so I didn't really feel like hitting the tables hard this evening as we had a pretty hectic day at work!

So when I logged in and registered, it automatically used my retry tickets from last night, so I decided there and then that I would play those two and that would be it for the night.

Yes, I know - you've all seen faster snails but I feel much happier doing this at my own pace and to play when 100% right unlike my usual of playing for the sake of it!

Anyways onto the games.....

Game 1:

Played very well, doubled up quite early vs a complete fish! Lost some chips when villain made a river flush when I hit my top pair. The big moment came with AKo vs AQo... was looking pretty good, had the nut flush draw until the Q came down on the river and of I went to the rails.

Game 2:

Very nitty game, kept myself in it until my AK held vs AQ and suddenly I was CL with 4 left. Waited it out patiently and stealing and being generally aggressive in position. Worked out well and managed to blag another Step 2!

Hopefully get a decent amount of volume in on Sunday

I've been trying to work this out a little in my head but maybe asking this wonderful community is better. Considering that I am now half way through my Step 1s and going on previous win rate - let's assume I have 15 Step 2 tickets once my bankroll is up.

Would it be better to

(a) Carry on with Step 2s and see how I fair out
(b) Pad my bankroll a little, by say $100 and give myself another 13 chances? Give myself every opportunity to go all the way?

Obviously the games are gonna get much tougher as I go up, just wondered what you all thought?

Ok so, trying to make myself more suave and sophisticated than I am, if that's possible at all, my suggestion is that if you are to continue the challenge as far as you can go, then padding out the BR a bit will give you a chance to get used to the games getting tougher as you climb.

What I don't know is how many S1 successes you will need to feel comfortable, but you could wait and see how many you have before deciding to add to the BR I suppose.
I also suppose someone more expert will be along shortly to.

Probably best to see how things are once I finish the Step 1s.

I guess if I have less than 15 - I will most likely add another $100 to the challenge and plough onto the Step 2s. The Step 1s are the most difficult to get out of, as there are more break-even rewards as you move higher (with the games getting much harder as a consequence)

Hopefully, by tomorrow evening I will have another 8-10 games done and be closer to knowing where I actually stand.

In my limited experience, the games get tough when going for the $215 step 4 level. Give yourself as many chances as you can.

Just about to start another 2 games now!

Hopefully can ship some more Step 2s!

Just wrapped up tonights 2 games!

Game 1:

Got to 8 handed and T100 with about 14 BBs when I picked up A9o on the SB, I raised 2.5 and got a call from a Russian villain. Flop was nice with AQT giving me top pair along with the nut flush draw. I cbet pot to find villain shoving and I called. Unfortunately he had 2 pair QT and I was scrambling for outs that didn't come

Game 2:

Was going OK at t150, had over a 2k stack when I picked up TT in the SB. A shorty had shoved his last 700 chips and I shoved over and the BB folded. Shorty found an A on the board to pair his A5 and I was back to starting chips and in push/fold mode again

Same villain found Karma 3 hands later when his TT came up against A3, only for the board to pair KKJJ and he was gone.

Down to 4 handed shortly after when my AT held against J9.

I entered 4 handed play with 13BBs, but nobody was much more ahead. So it was waiting for premium steals and good hands. Fortunately, I found AK UTG when one opponent was down to his last BB and everyone called.

The board was a very kind AKx and I shoved and found a very generous call from the then CL who was drawing dead with A7o

He soon tilted away his last remaining chips so thats another Step 2 in the bag!

I am awake lolearly this morning!

2 games in already, with more to come later

Game 1:

Was about 7 hands in, and got dealt JJ in UTG. Raised 3x and got a call from a tilting Canadian in UTG....... then my internet connection went down and suddenly it was 6 hands later. Must say, I am not a big fan of time travel if this is how it goes ♦

2 huge whales at this table, and they both had huge stacks when we got down to 4 handed. Had lolbad cards in stealing postions and my last 4.5BB went into the middle with K5o and it was finger biting time! Whale 1 insta calls with 67s and duly hits a 6 on the flop and I was out of there. Please collect $1.50 on your way out

Game 2:

Had started by the time my internet connection returned. Was quite passive until I doubled up with QQ when 6 handed.

Next semi interesting spot was 4 handed. Fish on my left had about 400 more chips than me and he min raised PF I min reraised with KK. He shipped it in on a Q high flop with QJ and my hand Kings held and I was then chip leader.

I managed to keep my stack intact while 2 and 3 went for each other and I soon shipped Step 2 ticket number 9!

14 games to go people!!!!

Made a questionable move in Game 1 shoving A6o vs CL for my last 13BBs. Talked myself into shoving when I just about to press the fold button

Villain turned over A8 and I was drawing dead by the 448 flop

Game 2 was a funny affair. A huge Russian whale on my right who had 5k chips after an orbit. He was limping every hand and I soon took advantage and relieved him of his chips when down to 4 handed. He had previously taken a chunk of my chips when he flopped a 9-K straight vs. my QQ

A couple of hands later my AT beat his 77 and he was out. Entered 3 handed with everyone equal in chips. Guy to my left was very aggro, raising every hand and I waited him out and doubled my stack to equal his with AK holding vs A9.

Our other opponent tried to fold his way to step 2, bleeding his chips from 3k to 800 before shoving Q4 into other opponents K5 and that was that!

Just back from another 2 games now.

Stepping up the volume today as it's pretty much the ideal time to play for me.

Game 1:

Ran rather well. Got chips early when I flopped a set of 9s and got paid off by AT. I made a FH on the turn and extracted as much value as possible.

Got down to 4 handed quiet early and maintained my stack quiet well. Big hand came vs CL. BvB he calls AKo in the big, I minraise with AJ and he flats. The flop was a very delightful AJx and he shoved into my top two and with 8k chips it was plain sailing after that.

Game 2:

Not alot happened here until 6 handed. My stack had dwindled down to 1k with blinds at 75/150. I shoved JQ into A9 and hit a fortunate Jack which held up. Next big hand was vs. a shorter stack who shoved into my AQ in the BB. That held up too so entered 5 handed play with everyone fairly even ~2.5k chips and less than 10BBs.

At 150/300/25, I picked up AJ in the BB which proved to be my last action as I ran it into an UTG shove who had AQ. Disappointed cos' I should have found a fold there. Villain was the ultra aggro player from my previous set. I will be avoiding this guy for the rest of my Step 1 games and Step 2 if possible.

This game can be so crazy as we all know!

Got deep in both and shipped another S2 along with a retry of S1!

Game 1:

Patiently waited around and the big hand came when 5 handed. There was one guy with a huge chip lead. He folded from UTG and 2 villains shoved there 1k stack into my bullets in the BB. Those held and we were 3 handed.

Unfortunately my luck deserted me at the wrong time and the shorty doubled with 56s against my A3, hitting trip 5s on the river. 2 hands later and I was AI against same villain with 99 vs AQ but the Q on the river meant I will be retrying this one again.

Game 2:

Was pretty similar to Game 1, ended up 4 handed with a small stack, similar to 2 opponents vs a huge chip lead. Picked up timely Aces again and then we were 3.

Last hand of the game was SB (700 chips) shoving into my BB (900) chips and 89o flopped an OESD which got there on the river to make it 12 Step 2 tickets now.

So 9 games to go now thanks to that retry from Game 1....

Gonna take a couple hours off now and maybe return to the tables later today or even tomorrow.

Very happy with my progress so far. 12 Step 2s is on par with what I am hoping to achieve with 9 games left. Hope to have it wrapped up by Tuesday at the latest.

If I have 15 once Step 1s are finished I will most likely continue onto Step 2s regardless.

Sunday seems to be the best day for all the Steps to run so that is positive as it's only day I can play with the required peace for a few hours.
