My Pokerstrategy Coaches Rant

* You are free to discuss hands and plays that our coaches made. Every video has the comment function and our coaches are supposed to answer to all comments in a timely manner. In some cases i.e. like for relatively old videos that might be taking longer, or for videos where the producer is not with us anymore even not possible. Should you have any complaints about that - email us at coach@pokerstrategy.com or leave a note in this forum

* For comments on the quality of certain coaches: Please understand that we do not discuss our opinion on the coaches here, since you don't want your boss to discuss your work in a public forum,too, would you? However when ordering new videos and occassionally requesting a proof that one coach is still up to date with the game we will surely consider your feedback here in this thread and have already been internally discussing the matters that have been brought up before.

* Regarding the "show your stats / show your winnings / etc" - Our coaches are coaching for us for two reasons:
- we believe that they are capable of being a good teacher
- we believe that they are good in what they are teaching
As nbml already pointed out, his production of videos is limited to stakes where PokerStrategy can be sure that they are winning strategies. It is perfectly fine and in no way negative that a particular coach does not beat higher stakes. If it would not be fine then it would be probably pretty lonely in our coaching section - with just Jungleman12 and a few others.
Some of our coaches decided not to publish their screennames, others do. It is still mandatory for all of them to proof to us how they beat the games that they want to coach. If they can support their 'market value' by publishing further information - we are happy to do so. However I am sure those of you who are playing in a field with limited amount of players appreciate that if your screenname is known you should probably not reveal your whole gameplan, stats etc.

* Constructive feedback guys - I've seen quit a bit here which really helps us (giving extended feedback to the coaches and focusing more on getting videos from coaches that are most appreciated) and our coaches to improve. (I.e. when a coach is good with what but not how he explains).
I've also read some examples of how feedback will actually not improve, mostly points where noone can defend its product, i.e. "its just bad", "overall bad quality". Should your own game already be at a level that is at the coaches level he is then not just too bad to teach. Of course we also wanted to have uber-crushers on NL20k who teach all stakes between NL2-NL20k. In reality coaches produce for a certain audience and alot of users of those target group in general will profit.
Just a small story from the german community: a highstakesplayer (NL40k) and friend ofm one of our producers pretty much criticised some of our videos for certain stakes (~NL200) - for those coaches to not be able to crush NL40k. However, he had to admit that they are good at teaching a game where users can learn how to beat NL200. Target achieved, mission accomplished.

Hi Sven older post this noticed something though. One of the criticisms of MBML is the fact that his EV was 141 dollars below yet over the same ev period of hands his winnings were 14000$.

I'm sorry as don't understand stats a lot but doesn't that mean that with his tutorage you are basically learning how to get maximum value even out of cards that maybe aren't great with particular strong betting patterns and decisions.

If this is the case surely the EV compared with the winnings supports MBMLs skill strongly even if no one is always going to agree with everything in holdem.

EV adjusted means the money that you would win if there was no variance.

So if you have 5% equity in a $400 pot then on average you will win $20 from the pot. If you win a one off hand then it means you are $380 above EV whilst if you lose you will be $20 under ever.

That bit makes sense but just wondering if what MBML's results show is that he curbs variance by say check raising people out of a pot etc and folding better hands I mean does ev adjust mean if hands went to show down all the time how does it know where you are at ev wise.

EV is only affected by hands that go to showdown. If there is no showdown, EV line follows the green line.

Actually, EV line follows green line (winnings) all the time EXCEPT when there is all-in situation preflop, flop or turn.
