Green, cuz I want to play nosebleed stakes ♠_cool:
Are you at all taking into consideration how fucked up your morals would become? How hard it would be for you to raise children into this world who werent fucked up spoiled brats? How materialistic things would end up meaning everything to you? How you'd have a hard time knowing who your real freinds are anymore and whos just in it for your money? How lazy you would end up being? Would you after a few years have the same view on "normal" people? Id probably not want to be your friend if you had $100m. No offense. That goes for anyone in here
To be honest, money change people in the most disgusting ways. At first thought $100 million dollars probably sound fu*king-tastic (excuse my language ♦), but I'm not sure I'd like the person I would most likely turn into if I was given that amount of money for no reason at all.
Money changes stupid people.
And every question is for stupid people.
What about making an offer to a billionaire:
He gives you 15M and in case you win the flip he gets 15M back + 50M and you get 35M. Otherwise you're left with 15M ♦. Not sure about the exact numbers but I guess you could work out something. Even taking something way smaller like 5M and the billionaire gets 80M if you win is way more +EV than going for 1M.
If that's not possible, I'd go for 1 mil.
I've changed my mind. I think I'd choose A. 1 million dollars would allow me to invest it. If I kept 4% to reinvest yearly to fight inflation, I would make $10,000 per year for each extra percent I could get. If I could get 6%, which I definitely could, I could live modestly without having to work. If I could get 7-8%, I'd live pretty well.
There's an inflection point for this question, wherein I have enough money to never work again. If the question was "$100,000 guaranteed or 50% chance of 10 million" I would pick the latter. Any amount that allows me to basically retire right now, I pick. Any amount below that, I flip for 100x that amount.

does not add up.
you win the flip & give him his 15M back plus 50M and keep 35M . . .
so, where did the other 15 M go?
total distributed should be 115M not 100M.
your basic math skills are not good enough to make these kind of decisions!
me, I'd take the $1M.
I've been working honest jobs since 1989 and haven't grossed 1M yet.
sure, you couldn't buy $$$,$$$ cars and $,$$$,$$$ houses, but you could live nicely & not work.
losing the flip for 100M would be too hard for me to take.
knowing that I could have quit working for good & passed it up for what?
I don't NEED 100M.
1M would take care of me quite nicely.
What he said. The only reason I considered the flip was that I didn't think 1 mil was enough to live off, but doing the maths, it is.
Of course, the ideal situation is to offer the flip to a billionaire for a guaranteed 25 mil or something, but I'm assuming that isn't an option for us. Like, we have to make a decision in an hour, or forfeit our chance. No time to arrange a meeting with a billionaire in that time.
WOOW I can't belive how dumb people are saying the red or snap green its EV is 50 million.
Haven't you even learned the basics of what pokerstrategy have been trying to teach you?
Pressing the red button is just idiotic not even gonna get into that.
Pressing the green button is the right choice but your not gonna snap the green button. You don't have the BANKROLL for that. You are going to take it easy and get backed/invested/staked for almost the whole amount assuming your not a millionaire.
Offer the backers an irrestible deal and its gauranteed 25 million for you if give them a fair cut for backing you

Well anyone who says that they would go for the green button are either very rich or lying. They just might not know it yet.1 Million is a life changing amount of money. For most of us, it would solve a lot of real life problems. Green one has better EV, but then again with the red button you can't lose. I don't think I could really live with it if I chose the green and failed. I would be thinking for the rest of my life
"I had 1 million. I could have paid my mortage, help my parents, and generally have a solid financial foundation for the rest of my life. But I got greedy, and tried to flip for 50 millions. Now I have none, I threw million away."
I would be VERY surprised if anyone who doesn't have financial indepency chooses the green button in real situation.
Thank you!
I 100% agree with you.
Lazerbeam of selling the green buttom for 25M is also a great idea.
But in this era, 1M is still so much money. With 1 million you can actually pay all your debts and invest like half into stock market...

lol, you are pointing out math skills and then make a decision based on emotion.
mathematically the most EV decision is the green button and it is not even close. one has 50M EV and the other 1M, so in theory it is an easy choice.
In practice I believe i would still flip and snap for green, more over I would not have time to regret if I was to lose the flip as my wife would literally kill me on the spot. So GREEEEEEEN all the way for me

I think the best way to relate this question to what pokerstrategy is teaching can be summarise by:
people will make -EV decision by playing outside their BRM

I'd take option 2 because EV donation of 50mil (though I might keep some money for myself if I win) would help much bigger number of people then 1mil.

snap red button, get a cheap cruiser (40k~) and travel the world.
invest maybe 400k and left with 500k for travel purposes just incase :).
I think that the idea of the question is that you can't sell any action or make deals. As that would ruin the whole point.
I think the best argument so far has been the fact that I don't NEED 100M as much as I need 1M. If EV is the sole point, would you still choose the flip if it was 20M quaranteed or 50% of 100M? 40M quaranteed? 49,5M quaranteed?
We all have the point where we throw the EV thinking aside and take the granted money. For me it is 1M vs 100M. For others it's somewhere higher. Maybe you ballers need to create your own thread where you think abount the borderline for yourselves.
I think the borderline for me would be around $5-10 million. I imagine if faced with the decision for $4m I would prob snap it up though.
Could even go balls out and spend a spare $1mil on Euro millions tickets ♦
Take the 1mirrion and play HU4ROLLZ?!
I'd like to say in reality I'd take 100M because it's a much more life changing amount but I think if I got down to it I may not be able to refuse the 1M

Well to my defense it was 5 AM and the numbers aren't important, I was talking more about the idea. Ofc, selling action wouldn't be 'fair' to the whole problem. As I also said in my first post, facing a 2 button situation without any deals involved I would go straight for the red button.
