Still on a pretty big high about FTP. And honestly, it's not b/c of the money I have on the site but rather the fact that an entire disillusioned player pool is about to be reunited with poker and allowed to believe, once more, that playing poker online doesn't make you a wicked person who deserves to have people exploit you at every turn.
I'm not fool enough to think Pokerstars did this for anything other than financial reasons. Getting themselvs out of trouble with DOJ and buying a whole new (and in all likelihood fanatically loyal) player pool is just sound busniess strategy. However, the fact that tens if not hundreds of thousands of players will have a chance to get back to the game they love is simply a good thing and it doesn't matter to me that a particular company is going to make a lot of money out of the situation.
One thing I'd like people not to lose sight of: Even if FTP does open again in the next 3 months and people get back to the tables, let's not forget that some people out there are responsible for some pretty significant wrongdoing that's caused a lot of misery. I hope the DOJ continues to push hard to get to the bottom of this and make those individuals pay. Ponzi scheme or no, some people knew they were accepting deposits they had no real prospect of being able to pay back. And I don't want there to be any chance they get away with that.

(P.S. - I did recommend Hidden, the Haneke movie - it was mentioned by trickybob. It is not an easy watch but it stays with you. It took me three viewings before I detected what happened in the final shot.)
As with all things that we dream about, the achievement of the fantasy is never as sweet as we imagine it will be. Making a living, working from home, using only my intelligence as a tool was a kind of holy grail for me. Now that I've demonstrated the feasibility of that goal, it already seems somehow insubstantial.

I have been really suffering with aches and pains so far this month. Pretty miserable. Every morning I wake up just waiting for the pains in my chest and arm to start. I dose myself up with paracetamol and ibuprofen, go for three walks each day, one after every set, and do some gentle stretching but I can't seem to shake it. Last couple of days have brought some warm weather and a little respite. Mrs Tim64 is away for a few days so I'm just taking things easy with lots of cooking, films and pokerz.
Recent viewing: The Boxer (Daniel Day-Lewis, Emily Watson), 1997 - already somewhat dated but decent acting. The Bourne Ultimatum (a bit like the other two but even more silly and contrived) and the really excellent Shattered Glass, with Hayden Christiansen and Chloe Sevigny. This last one was something like Quiz Show with elements of The Informant!. I can strongly recommend it.
My red line has really taken some time to get going with this month. Last couple of days (coincidence, anyone?) have seen it heading north again to my great relief.
Just for laughs I'm going to post a rare cash-game graph. Managed to dip below -$400 before making a recovery, after finding my stride (absent stats) on zoom NL100. I am tilting less these days playing cash (probably because this it's no longer paying the bills) and that gives me some vague hope that I might one day be able make it a serious part of my repertoire again. Whether <3 would ever speak to me again if I did such a thing is another matter entirely. 
p.s: it's nice when even so-called strong regs are so reticent to play a pot with you that they would rather do things like this:

Solid call by villain preflop being so deep. Once he flops such strong draw he practically has to check-raise semibluff and try to get chips in when his equity is best. Turn bricks most of his strong draws, but he still do have outs to 4th pair. Also his hand might be good already. So well played overall. Unlucky to run to such setup. Nothing he could do differently.
