What do you think about making a subforum in "learning to win" for personal blogs?

I think this would be a very good idea and a materialization in one form of the accountability groups we talked about in the skype group.

I gotta check out how long it stays good in room temperature, and if I can send it to Latvia. If it is possible, I will send a small package to you right away. That should bring me good karma!

We do, but haven't seen any in even the biggest Rimi shops, can't recall ever seeing any even in Stockmann, but was thinking to give it another try there.

Fruktpuff sounds like a pot-smoking fruit. I can see the banana's getting high. If you don't find halloumi from your local shops, just let me know. Although the priority package costs 45 euros to send, I really have to see if vacuum packed halloumi can survive few days. Otherwise it would be better to take it to Latvia myself, as the flight tickets costs around 100 euros.

Yesterday I found myself in a position where I was super busy, and I had nothing to eat at home. And the only place to get food was sort of cafe/pizzeria. 2 sandwiches have same calories as one decent pizza, so I took one with rucola, air-dried ham, parmesan cheese and some cherry tomatoes. Was actually pretty nice, and had little over 600cal which wasn't that bad. But if I want to lose weight I really have to think ahead.

Today I got little sick so I couldn't go to shop, so I can't prepare myself for tomorrow. It will be a busy day, but luckily I have about an hour or so between coming home and leaving for trainings. So I can go to shop and make something nice&small.

I am tracking my diet with a software that is just awesome. It is free to use (it's in finnish) and it has a huge database of foods. Nearly everything that is for sell in here. You can just search and choose an item, and state how much you have ate it. And it will count all the calories, carbs, proteins etc. Super simple to use, and it saves a LOT of time. And when you make your own foods, you can add them ingerdient by ingredient. And save that food, so if you make same or somewhat similar you can use that as a base. Free version doesn't have an account that keeps tracking your progress or foods, but it cost only 2 euros for two week trial period. After that I am definitely going to continue it.

Losing weight and getting a hamster is all part of my "improved life". As I have been such a tomorrow-person, it might seems that I have issues with lifecontrol. Although everything is fine in my life, one friend of mine has talked about it to me every now and then. And I totally agree, it could be better. I find myself a lot of times in spots where I am late or almost late, past the deadline or awfully close to it, paying bills after the due date without any reason, and so on. I really need to step it up, as I am getting closer to being an adult. ;)

I played poker today too, HU sitgos. Opponent sucked out, and accepted rematch. This happened 3 times, but finally his luck run out and he lost the 4th one. Instantly declined for the rematch. Isn't that cute, as he must have seen from the start that he is putting his money in from behind every time. But kept going on until he lost. Superstition?

I could have played with him for all night long.

Morning weight 103,7kg!

Of course it might be due hydration or water from the muscles or whatelse, but still I am happy to see some results. That is a lot better than 104,7kg. 3 days and -0,5kg suits me.

Hamster is getting closer!

As this blog was not about poker, I like to bend the rules. Thought about posting this to strategy section, but here is a little something for loyal followers. I don't really know if any of you play PLO, but what the heck.

I posted this to Finnish strategy section, so if some of you Finnish PLO'ers read this please don't spoil that thread.

Poker Stars, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Omaha Cash, 6 Players

BTN: $31.70 (317 bb)
SB: $10 (100 bb)
Hero (BB): $11.07 (110.7 bb)
UTG: $10.90 (109 bb)
MP: $16.83 (168.3 bb)
CO: $4.45 (44.5 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB
UTG folds, MP raises to $0.30, 3 folds, Hero raises to $0.95, MP calls $0.65

Flop: ($1.95) Q 7 4 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.90, MP calls $0.90

Turn: ($3.75) 3 (2 players)
Hero bets $2.20, MP calls $2.20

River: ($8.15) K (2 players)
Hero checks

Both players are good and thinking regs. Both want to win the pot, and are capable of doing plays, but won't make anything stupid. They both try to find a +EV spots, and will have reasoning for everything they make. Stats are like 25/17/6 or something like that.

Now the question is this:

What is hero's range when he checks the river? What is hero's range in villain's eyes, and with what range will villain check behind, or shove?

If villain shoves, and hero thinks about their actual ranges and perceived ranges, with what range will hero call if villain shoves?

It is enough to know in shove or call shove ranges what is the bottom of the range.

102,8kg today! Might be due to my flue, but made me happy.

Does anyone know if there are any important differences between male and female hamsters?

Warning, poker content!

To that PLO stuff.

I think that hero's preflop range is pretty wide, it includes AA/KK, premium QQ, and all kinds of double pairs and rundowns. Villain's range is pretty much everything playable except aces.

The thing I have said repeatedly in coachings (as I have made it up myself!) is "every action defines range". So at preflop, villain's call defines that he doesn't have aces.

(now all the assumptions are in general. Of course villain might have aces, but the thought process is based on what villain or hero would do usually.)

Flop cbet doesn't really define hero's range a lot. It might be total air, it might be semibluff, it might be a trap with monsters. When villain call, it however defines that he shouldn't have set or top2 that often.

When hero barrels the turn, it's clear that hero has something. As villain called the flop, he has something. And that something usually can stand a turn bet. So if hero bets turn with air, he has to bet all blank rivers. And to that board there aren't that many great river cards. As turn completes the straight draw, it's such a bad spot to barrel with total air. So hero's cbet clearly indicates that hero has something. Of course the nut straight is in hero's range.

As villain just calls the turn, he shouldn't have the nut straight. Of course he might slowplay it, but overall there isn't much value in slowplaying it here. As hero's range is something, the best value against something is to raise turn and get a call. That something won't bluff a lot of missed rivers, and therefore the nut straight would just lose value if slowplayed. So villain's hand is most likely some kind of draw or weak made hand.

When hero checks the river, things get interesting.

From villain's point of view, hero doesn't have straight ever. As villain's range is most likely either missed draw or weak made hand, both of those would check behind. So hero doesn't get any value for checking a straight. If hero had some sort of draw on the turn, and he knows that villain doesn't have a straight, it would make sense for hero to bet his air. As it's the only way to win the pot. So when hero checks, it defines his range to some kind of made hand. No air, no nuts.

Now as villain knows that, what kind of hands could he shove for value? If he thinks that hero's calling range is AA and better, he has to think what is the average value of his calling range. To make the shove profitable, hero has to have more weaker hands in his calling range than better hands.

So if hero's range is AA, KQ, 74, 73, 43, KK, QQ, 77 it would mean that villain can shove KQ and sets for value. And as villains flop and turn play didn't indicate sets, the shove range is pretty thing, KQ and KK.

If hero thinks that villain is capable of evaluating river like this, he should adjust his range so that there aren't really any hands that he can check-call. As the villain won't bluff the river ever, and all of the hands that villain will shove will also call if hero shoves, hero doesn't get any value for his check-call range when compared to straight shove. And if hero shoves, villain will call with some hands that he would check back.

So it's all cat and mouse play. Leveling war can go pretty high. But overall villain should shove KQ and better, and hero really shouldn't have check-call range.

But as actions define the ranges, the situation on river is this:

- Hero doesn't have air.
- Neither one has nuts.
- Both know these facts.

In the actual hand villain shoved and hero called. As I thought about this hand a lot, I couldn't say who played it badly. After the analyzis I think we both made a bad play on the river. But hero made a bigger mistake, which ment that villain's mistake wasn't that bad. Villain shoved a weak hand, and hero called with even weaker hand.

Now wouldn't it be nice if all this thought process stuff would be unconscious and possible in every hand? :)

BTW. Does anyone know PokerStars policy on deposits and cashouts? If I deposit $500 for reload bonus, can I withdraw the $500 in couple of days?

Buah! Retro time! Stumbled to this old song in Youtube, and I just looooove the lyrics. Too bad the modern rap is so far from this. In this song it's all about clever lyrics. No hightech shit with music and wannabe-artistic crap. 2 guys, simple beat and awesome lyrics.

Hey kyyberi.

Firstly Good luck with your weight loss plan, IO hope it works for you. I honestly do think a healthier body = better mindset.

I don't know if you had any answers to the breakfast question yet but here is what I have been led to believe and works for me along with a few other things:

1) Yes it does matter, why? It kick starts the body clock off.

2) If you are trying to loose weight in a healthy way you should never let your body feel hungry. If you do the body will start reserving energy = not using your fat content because it thinks times are hard.

3) #2 is why you may of heard to eat 6 meals a day. I personally eat 3 meals with 2 protien shakes on training days and then 3 meals + nuts/fruit on non.

4) If you can excercise do it. What a lot of people don't realise is that if you workout for say 400 cal at the gym. The body still needs to repair, as such depending on what training you have done you will use even more cal from afterburn effect. Weight training does this better than cardio.

5) Hamersters suck, they bite! lol :P Get yourself a kitten they smell as bad when they crap in your house. Besides if you dont like it at least its big enough to skin and make an item of clothing out of lol.

Btw I have exactly the same problem with you regarding food. I dont count cal anymore as it never worked for me, I eat crap at times but I do HIT training twice a week, MMA/UFC 2-3 Times a week and try a cardio session if I can fit it in. I dont want a ripped body (unless I have a fight), just a healthy one lol.

Once again though GOOD LUCK!

101,3kg. Double digits getting closer, although there might be a minor setback as I will go to restaurant at friday. Have to just train a lot at friday and saturday.

The thing with breakfast is that I can't really eat when I wake up. I am not hungry. I suppose this is learned habit, and my body has adapted to it. I might be able to learn away from it, but do I want? Normally I wake up at 7:30 or 8:30 and I will have lunch at 11:00. If I need to wake up at 6:00 (morning shift) I have some breakfast before the lunch as the time is so long there. I don't see this as a problem, but if someone has link to a proof that not eating breakfast is bad, I am happy to see.

Hamster rocks. At least mine will. I just heard today that I will get one free, as co-worker of my friend needs to give away her 9 month old furball. So after I get home from Poland (2 weeks) I will get that thingy.

That friend of mine laughed a lot when I told that I want to have a hamster. She told me that she doesn't know anyone else 34y old who likes to have a hamster. I didn't know one earlier neither.

Oh. So then I just need to work out how long it takes to collect those VPP's, and see how much I can afford to be stuck at Stars account. Too bad I am not a highroller who would have $500 lying around for some random bonuses. That $500 would be from my rent money, and I can keep it for a week at Stars.

To get full $100 it would mean 2000 VPP's. In PLO25 that is about 6-7K hands.

Is the bonus paid in $5 incrediments or for full value when the points are cleared?

edit: in the bonus thread there is some discussion that the bonus will not be deleted if played cashes out.

Reload bonus

Yeah, I think the stars policy is you can't withdraw before depositing after the bonus is announced, but once you have deposited and it's active, it should be ok.

Bonus comes handy. I played some PLO10 yesterday, as I was trying to record stuff for new video. My precious laptop can't handle HEM2, 4 tables at Stars and screen recording. Laggy as hell. And there were some HUGE fishes in the tables. And I mean HUGE!

One was 100/10/2 type of player. Played every hand, raised aces and kings and broadway stuff, and limp-called the rest. But he was super aggressive postflop, aggression frequencies were over 50 for every street. Donked a lot, triple barreled a lot. But he had a major problem with betsizing. Every time he had a weak hand or bluff, he minbet or bet something like 1/5 of a pot. But when he had it, he bet big. Pretty easy to play against him, and I raised him a lot on turns/rivers. I thought that he would catch my thing sooner or later, but he didn't. Bet-folded all the time, hand after hand.

Another fishy was 100/50/30 maniac, who didn't fold anything preflop. Postflop his plan was to slowplay if he had a good hit, and push if he had something weak.

And then there were two 80/0/0 calling stations, who didn't fold about anything preflop or postflop. They both stood with +300bb stacks soon, from me.

Session started well, +4bin in an hour. Nice. In the next hour, I went -8bin down and it wasn't that nice. Then I played some 6max hyper satellites, didn't get to top2 in any of the 4 I played. So overall it sucked a lot. And it felt pretty bad, but the nice thing is that I lost only -$40 overall. Usually when I have that same feeling I have lost a big portion of my bankroll. So maybe it was lucky that I played PLO10 instead of any higher limits.

That was the third poker related post. So now I have 2 strategy posts and 1 whining post. Good ratio.
