variance roller coaster ride

Spoiler

my light 3bets weren't working, then suddenly they were, then people decided to raise everything
this was pretty intense

MP+1 wins $66.75

his stats at time of hand

Spoiler

i thought that he was capable of barreling light and his sizings didn't make a lot of sense, like flop is super big then turn is super small then river bigger again ZOMGWHAT
still the key rule seems to be that, whenever they polarize, they actually have it pretty damn often :f_biggrin:

that nonsense sizing thing actually seems to be a pretty good value leveling method.
later i still was on slight tilt and decided to apply the technique on another unsuspecting reg:

PokerStars - $0.50 NL ZOOM - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $50.00
SB: $56.67
BB: $124.62
UTG: $50.63
UTG+1: $63.71
UTG+2: $105.45
MP: $62.30
Hero (MP+1): $50.41
CO: $101.69

SB posts SB $0.25, BB posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.75) Hero has A♠ A♣

fold, UTG+1 raises to $1.50, UTG+2 calls $1.50, fold, Hero raises to $6.66, fold, fold, fold, fold, UTG+1 calls $5.16, UTG+2 calls $5.16

Flop: ($20.73, 3 players) 5♣ 7♦ 5♠
UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 checks, Hero requests TIME, Hero bets $9.99, fold, UTG+2 calls $9.99

Turn: ($40.71, 2 players) 4♣
UTG+2 checks, Hero bets $33.76 and is all-in, UTG+2 SNAPcalls $33.76

River: ($108.23, 2 players) 4♦

UTG+2 shows Q♠ Q♦ (Two Pair, Queens and Fives) (Pre 18%, Flop 8%, Turn 5%)
Hero shows A♠ A♣ (Two Pair, Aces and Fives) (Pre 82%, Flop 92%, Turn 95%)
Hero wins $105.73

i feel that he'd probably call pretty much any pair, whatever i guess
preflop sizing was pretty big because UTG+1 was a fish.

plo is a way too sick game, not my territory yet :P

that sick volume:

Spoiler

speaking of sickness i wasn't feeling very great today so that's the reason for such great volume.
also that's the reason for not doing a whole lot hand evaluations (way too few actually), sorry guys :f_biggrin:

thought process: QQ 6 combos, JJ-TT 6 combos, random ace high type of hands folding not sure if he even has Tx, let's pot control/bluffcatch the river/whatever and maybe even improve

now i think that while that was incredibly nitty it actually was fine :P

i still need 900 more sp for pokestrategy platinum :f_eek: stay tuned!
i shall be putting extra volume these days by, besides playing more, adding in some ez nl25 when feeling tired (better than 0 volume, and better than playing breakeven ofc)

hand, poker easy:

hey tomaloc grats for the progress!

just a simple question are you following the 25buy rule for moving up/down ? or are you making some shots like 1-2 buy in for higher stakes ?

Hey Tomaloc, great blog! ;)

How are your shots to higher limit looks? For example when you were going nl25 -> nl50, you start all 4 nl50 zoom tables at once when you had bankroll, or 3 nl25, 1 nl50?

actually i made my previous moveups by having like 40bi :P mostly because i was taking 1 limit at a month :f_biggrin:

i think 25bi should be enough for nl25, then 30bi for nl50, then 40bi for nl100 ;(

i feel awkward mixing limits. :f_biggrin:
that said, i usually start by playing as little as only one table to play with 100% focus because moving up is a kinda scary experience.

needing like 200 daily vpp
since i need to be completely not caring about results i'm switching to completely brainless nl25 grinding to get these vpp :f_biggrin:
250 should be a better number to set as a daily goal though

raised the bar a little higher for today:

4.4k hands today!

Spoiler

thankfully i chose nl25, because i ran awful (and played awful also) :f_biggrin: but that was the whole point of going brainless on nl25 anyway

this is a funny graph for sets:

Spoiler

nearly every time that i actually shipped the money i was either against some random straight by an one/two-gapper or an overset
still the fact that i made some sklansky bucks is proof of nl25 ez :P

daily stats:

Spoiler

these are actually quite bad :f_biggrin: not sure why i am posting

i guess not... too much commitment :f_biggrin:

unrelatedly, this was an amusing misread from this session:

PokerStars - $0.25 NL ZOOM - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $9.65
SB: $182.19
BB: $7.98
Hero (UTG): $30.18
UTG+1: $26.95
UTG+2: $23.95
MP: $84.81
MP+1: $25.40
CO: $38.99

SB posts SB $0.10, BB posts BB $0.25

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.35) Hero has Q♦ K♦

Hero raises to $0.84, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, BTN calls $0.84, fold, fold

Flop: ($2.03, 2 players) J♥ 5♦ 5♠
Hero bets $1.51, BTN raises to $3.02, Hero raises to $4.53, BTN raises to $8.81 and is all-in, Hero calls $4.28

Turn: ($19.65, 2 players) T♠

River: ($19.65, 2 players) 4♥

Hero shows Q♦ K♦ (One Pair, Fives) (Pre 49%, Flop 31%, Turn 32%)
BTN shows 7♥ 7♣ (Two Pair, Sevens and Fives) (Pre 51%, Flop 69%, Turn 68%)
BTN wins $18.77

believe it or not, i thought that i had queens. :f_eek:
now how the hell i confuse a sooted hand with queens is beyond me

unfortunately that was not the only such misread in the session, but it was the most costly
