I'm sure that going on 20 BI downswings happens more than I care for.. Assuming you're speaking of HU cash.. which is why I've stuck to 6max myself.. I can't handle the swings yet.

im a HU cash player and surely in the beginning/ playing regs the downswings can be massive. Once you have a good edge the downswings become smaller in size because of your edge obviously

Ok thanks, I was playing for a couple of hours last night and won 12 of 19 so I guess I don't really need to worry until I try and move up. What's the BR management for HU? I can't really find much info on HU on here apart from the videos.

if u'r a recreational player, 20BI's should be enough for HUSNGs (if you 1table, maybe even 2). For cash, i wouldn't recommend anything below 30BIs for rec player

if you depend a lot on your poker income, and don't want to move up and down the stakes, minimum for husng would be something like 50bi's, and 70ish for cash.

aggro moving up strategy i used couple of years ago was that i took 5bi shots when i had 30bi's for my current level. So let's say ur playing 50's and have 1500$ br, i would take 5bi shot on 100's and if things go wrong, grind it up and repeat.

it all depends on your comfort level

I'll definitely try that, I'm only playing $1.50 stakes at the moment as my BR is pretty low but I am looking to climb as high as I can and maybe achieve some sort of income for it, however at the moment I'm just purely learning.

i see you talk about husng and everyone else about hu cash. For example of husng variance u can check thread i made yesterday: Comeback graph! 2in1

so yeah, variance can strike even at this low variance format. There is one sick article with graphs of husng called "graph porn" but i`m not sure i can give a link to it since it`s on other training website. You can also try Kelly criterion (Google that, not sure about linking to other websites) for aggressive approach of moving up.

It really does depend if you bumhunt or not.

When i was playing hu cash i was basically using this system

50nl : 25bi

100nl 35

200nl 50

400nl 50

600 and 1Knl 50bi too

then 2K you need at least 80 i think

there is very good thread about HU player on 2+2, its call "the well". try to look into it;

i really think you can reduce so much variance at micro hu sngs

i have played 1000s at 7$ $15 and i dont recall any bad downswings maybe 5 or 6 buyins max, compared to the best run of 22 wins in a row these games are easily crushed with the correct mindset and game plan

I don't recommend trying to reduce variance. Making high variance plays is the way we gain the most edge, avoiding all flips as mentioned above just reduces your edge and therefore your winrate. Just get a good BR for the games you play so you don't have to worry about losing due to high variance plays, that way your edge is big. Sure the downswings can be big but overall your winrate will increase.

why would we want to take 50/50s vs these guys?

if you have a big edge over someone its in their best interest to take flips

i would flip against phil ivey all day long because because it reduces his edge over me

Wriggers is right, you cant reduce variance.
If going all in is most +ev play than you have to do it, folding will incrase variance.

is going all in on a 50/50 flip +EV ????
