PKR, $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

MP: $2.18 (8.7 bb)
Hero (CO): $25 (100 bb)
BTN: $26.33 (105.3 bb)
SB: $40.86 (163.4 bb)
BB: $26.27 (105.1 bb)
UTG: $71.47 (285.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J J
UTG calls $0.25, MP folds, Hero raises to $1.25, BTN folds, SB raises to $3.50, 2 folds, Hero raises to $8.75, SB calls $5.25

Flop: ($18) 5 8 A (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($18) 4 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

River: ($18) 9 (2 players)
SB bets $9, Hero calls $9

Villain recently joined 2 of my tables and was betting and raising a lot.
BB is a loose-passive fish.
Villain probably thinks that I am isolating the fish light. I 4bet my hand for value and am willing to go broke with it preflop.
The Axx flop kind of suck as I guess he could have plenty of Ax in his range.
Is there value in betting/shoving the flop?
The turn bricks but I still dont see much value in betting/shoving. Maybe 99/TT could call but that's pretty much it.
His betsizing on the river inclines me to think that he is going for value rather than bluffing. Maybe QQ,KK,TT,99. Less likely are 55,88,44,76s.
On the other hand, he could be bluffing with KQ, trying to represent a value bet. This however is a remote possibility.
He is probably shoving AK preflop. Same for AQ but not sure. AQ,AJ he is probably shoving on turn.
So I need 25% equity.

Board: Ah8d5c4s9s
Equity Win Tie
MP2 26.32% 26.32% 0.00% { JJ }
MP3 73.68% 73.68% 0.00% { KK-QQ, TT-88, 55-44, KQs, 76s }

Without a bluffing hand such as KQs in his range it's bad.

Board: Ad8c5s4h9h
Equity Win Tie
MP2 17.65% 17.65% 0.00% { JJ }
MP3 82.35% 82.35% 0.00% { KK-QQ, TT-88, 55-44, 76s }

No, he will only call with better hands.

I think I fold, because I would expect from him to cbet all his bluffs on this board.

Wait. I am the preflop aggressor as I am the one who 4bet. So he is not cbetting here anyway

oops my mistake. ;)

I think I still fold because there are not much bluffs here in his range, and you really don't beat much (probably even with QQ-KK would check the river, so I see him often value bet Ax here).

Hello jozata,

As you say yourself he is a passive-fish then I'd be more inclined to just fold the hand on the river than hero-call. There are enough of Ax hands in his range which call preflop and meanwhile not that many PPs which turn their hand into bluff.

Best Regards.
