I think that you have a great attitude. Also, BRM isn't the most important thing in life if you have a couple of hundred to play poker for, and you are decent. If you lose it you can surely get another couple of hundred at a later point. [But, don't take chances with somebody elses money. See, I am politically correct too .]

Hey! Looks like you yourself are very optimistic and that is good!

Here already was few suggestions from other strategists and I will sum it up for you.

If you want to learn, improve and be better in poker first things you should look over and learn:
:diamond:To NEVER set monetary goals
:diamond:Don`t completely rely on poker. Education is something you can gain and no one can take it away from you. Studying is always +EV, maybe you just need something different, that you like.
:diamond:BRM

Set more realistic goals, and if you make them in shorter time just raise them. And the first thing you should really learn is to follow BRM. It doesn't matter now when your BR is couple of hundred bucks, but when it's 20K and you lose 10K for taking tilt shots, it sucks. I know people that have done it, so learn from others mistakes and practise to actually follow a BRM instead of just creating one.

what is wrong with what I have highlighted? Do you know how some of the best got there? (try to ask Phil Ivey what he was doing for example. Unless u rather chose to shout at him ;) Let's look at Daniel Negreanu. I can keep going on and the list will be almost endless.. ) If they all followed proper BR at all times most of them would be playing around NL50 nowadays at max (joke) _evil:

I say taking shots is part of the game if they're well calculated (and perhaps even if they're not)..

Yeah, absolutely. I think that in 5 to 10 years max the poker games will be super dried up, if the industry hasn't collapsed altogether. I mean, every year billions of dollars go from the pockets of the micro players and the degenerates to the poker client owners and the players at the very top of the food chain. The whole thing can't go on forever.

While on the other hand, there are some technologies coming up in my field that are going to completely change the world as we know it, and it is obviously hugely +EV to get on that train early.

I was staring at the screen for maybe 15 seconds once I saw his hand

Tom Dwan does it too, though:

The 1200 euro goal was for 2 months btw, and I think its very doable, a bit optimistic but doable.

Bankroll is staying at the same level for now.

Here is a hand from a 5€ HU SNG. Villain is a winner with 10% ROI over a decent sample, which is very good for heads up play, right? He also did that small check-raise thing once already.

What do you guys think?

Will post a monthly wrap-up update in a few hours, I may be able to get 50€ from a rake race, but Im not sure yet.

Anyway, I'm making this post, to offer the following wager, I'll bet up to 400€ and will give 1:1.2 odds in your favour:

-I am to turn a 15€, only playing on one site, to 515€ (and obviously I can't use leftover loyalty points, FPP, etc etc from the last month.)
-This challenge is for december; if I dont complete it in december, I lose.
- I can use rakeback and promotions

If anyone wants to book some action, or can work as an escrow (i.e. keep the money we send him and after the wager is over, send them to the winner) please write here or send me a PM!

Edit: Oh, and obviously I will provide any kind of proof there are no shenanigans involved (recording my sessions, screenshots of my cashier, graphs, w/e you want).

No interest in the challenge :(
Oh well, at least everyone reading this blog believe that I can do it! :f_biggrin:

In other news, I'm officially a rakeback whore. November stats:

Total bankroll: 455€
Raw play winnings: -30€
Rakeback/promotion winnings: 185€
Total profit: 155€

I'm still debating whether or not to go for diamond status in December. Admittedly, its gonna be pretty fucking hard, I'll have to devote basically every waking hour to playing. Nobody got rich by slacking off though. We'll see.

Here is a PLO hand. Jacks are good, biatch.

Warning, rant ahead.

Today, I played over 4,000 SNG's.

And in short, Boss Media sucks.

To start off, I was planning to get diamond status this month. Also I self-imposed a maximum daily/weekly/monthly LOSS maximum, i.e. if I lose half my bankroll in a day I have to stop playing.

However, whoever retard designed their system decided to fuck with me. Turns out the system only works for cash game players, if you are a SNG or MTT player, it doesnt matter if you win or lose, your buy in is considered lost.

Long story short, they effectively locked my account or a month over a system bug. Support was incredibly useless as well. No gemstones for this guy!

So I made another account in another room from Boss, I was aiming to win a promotion of theirs, where the player who plays the most SNGs on Tuesday wins a iPad Mini + 50€ and 50€ to top 20 grinders.

Cool promotion, huh?

Well, literally two weeks ago they also introduced flip'n'go heads up SNGs, 1 chip starting stack. THEY ALSO BRING POINTS FOR THE PROMOTION, and they take a rake of only 1 cent. For fucks sake. This SNG marathon deranged into a mindless clicking register/yes/OK/register/yes/OK/register/yes/OK/... for hours and hours and hours.

Waking up at 6 AM in the morning, 2 guys have already played over 1900 SNG's each. At 6 AM.

What I did was write a script that auto-registered me for these flipaments. In a few hours, I was only 1000 points behind the leaders, instead of 1900. In a few more, I was 500 points behind. AND THEN THESE FUCKERS DESIDED TO CHANGE THE HUE AND COLOUR OF THE BUTTONS, AND THE ARRANGEMENTS OF THE TABLES IN THE LOBBY. I SHIT YOU NOT, THEY CHANGED IT EVER SO SLIGHTLY JUST TO FUCK WITH ME.

God, I'm pissed. Is table ninja illegal? If they didn't want me to create such a software, they should have just said so in the T&C, not fuck with me. Fuck boss media.

bankroll is around 300€ again, I don't even care.

I'm pretty sure they have something against automatized gameplay in their T&C somewhere although it's pretty funny how they reacted to it.

How much you lost over that 4k SNG's?

Spoiler

You could use a different macro/script solution without tableninja which can be easily reconfigured if they mess with the buttons.

@tarhonya I didnt use table ninja, I wrote my own macro.

This is basically my poker career so far, obviously the red balls represent dollars :f_biggrin:.

bankroll is ~360€. I'm a bit behind schedule

4K tournaments per day ?!?! Is this some kind of a world record or what? Unless its a bot playing 100 tables at the same time for 24 hours I dont see how this is possible.

@parchon
Nah, no world record, i can't even 24 table like some berserk asians do. There was a promotion going on in boss media where whoever played the most SNGs in a 24 hour period gets an iPad.
Also they have coinflip heads up SNGs, all in the first hand, that pay only 1 cent rake, so I registered 4k of those.

Speaking of which, they ran the same promotion again this Tuesday, and again, I participated. Played lots and lots of SNG's for several hours, I had 500 more played than the second best played, so a solid, solid advantage. I went to sleep for literally less than 2 hours, and when I woke up, the player that was previously second was now first with 800 points advantage over me.

And then Boss Media manually stopped the coinflip SNGs. Literally they just stopped them with no explanation, at 7 AM in the morning, just on the day of the SNG promotion. For comparison, they had run undisturbed for over a month.

What could I do? Play 800 regular SNG's more than this grinder in one day? Boss Media just wanted to make sure that their man will win the iPad. It was ugly, after this month is over I am moving to a different room.

Complained to the support, and they basically told me "tough luck, now stop bothering us. We just stopped the flips because we can, we wont give any explanation or compensation, now fuck off".

</rant>

Good news is that my bankroll just hit 450€ . I also finished watched every single SNG video up to platinum in Bulgarian (168 of those).

Happy new years everyone! Time for big dreams and a good opportunity for setting goals that we will carefully and guiltily ignore.

For the last two months I set a few goals:

- following proper BR management: FAILED
- improving my game and learning: SUCCEEDED
- getting to 1200€ total bankroll: YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

And the weirdest thing is, I am losing from raw play before rakeback! I achieved a negative 3.25% ROI over about 1000 SNGs, and winning around 200€ from MTTs, but not nearly enough to cover my losses.

So how did I manage to do that?

Well, I, along with 46 other fellows, raked 300€ from SNGs in 15 days, and thus qualified for a very cool tournament with 1700€ prize pool. Decent, eh? Average value of participation: ~36€. However, out of the 47 qualifiers, 41 were sitting out. Really ... ? Anyway, I got 600€ out of it.

Goals for the new year:

  • actually beat the games before rakeback
  • earn enough to support myself and
  • move out of my parents house
  • climb the limits and begin seriously working towards that 1 mill figure
  • read on the theory/ICM/Nash ranges of the SNGs
  • Improve

Some other shit worth mentioning:

- won two coachings with two proven and very good coaches
- I will drop out of college in 2-3 days due to low attendance. My first semester and I'm bored out of my mind
- In January I will mix cash NLHE and Omaha with SNGs, 50/50 proportion due to the low traffic of SNGs
- watched 3 seasons of House in a row, this show is brilliant:

I find it little strange that your goals for 2013 doesn't include anything about BRM. I don't want to sound like your mom, but I have seen it too many times what happens when BRM isn't used. Money comes, and money goes. Don't let it happen to you.

@kyyberi I intend to take poker more seriously in the coming months (earn my living with poker) so any risky shots, any loose bankroll management experiments are COMPLETELY out of the question.

==========

Interesting month so far. Dropped out of college for good, and I'm focusing on my game. Also I've been studying some Java, might be useful to have a second income in case I bust my bankroll or something unexpected happens, and there is always a job market for programmers.

I'm trying to arrange a coaching-for-profit deal with Team Moshman, in essense they take all my profit from SNG's in exchange for coaching, if I'm losing or break even I get the coaching for free. Most likely will sign within a few days. As a part of the deal, I have to play 800 SNGs a week.

I will move out of my parents house and live with an old friend of mine sometime in early February. I gotta say, this is very exciting for me, finally coming close to little independence.

As far as poker goes, variance has been good with me.

Just several minutes ago, I doubled my bankroll. Won a sattelite to a 27.5€ MTT with 215 runners, and what do you know, I shipped it.

It doesn't feel too good. Meh. I wasn't even concentrating on my play and I'm sure I made a couple of mistakes. But I ran like a god, sucking out left and right, and everyone let me 3bet steal a lot.

I didn't win when I was playing 12 hours in a row, didn't win when I was reading books and watching videos, didn't win when I was posting hands and analyzing my play. And while these things probably enabled me to win ... today, it was easy. It is ridiculously easy when luck is on your side, and there are probably a lot of lucky fuckers out there who play bad, who don't care about improving, and yet they win.

Life isn't fair, life is chaotic, and chaos is only fair on a broad scale.

Peace.
