Pleen-dog (Pleno)

Can you outline how you go about your color coding fish again?

I watched your old zoom vid, and it seems you define any short stack as green (definite fish), how do you decide what is a possible fish and what is a definite fish?

Also, do you generally assume players with big stacks (>200bb) are regs/solid?

@pleno1 or another1 who knows a good book:

I read 1 book in my life about poker.
What book about ABC, TAG, skills to beat the micro's do you reccommend.
I don't want to read about mindset because I have a mindset already to just play on with 40BI down and just playing on trying to get more skills without crying to my mother...

Just theoratical hand evaluation math book?

cbet KQx flop and give up turn river
call resteal IP, fold to cbet on Txx
in 4way pot does not riase with set on Qxxss, cbh turn when flush posible, bet river 1/3 when str also posible
2012 12 02
call in BB vs SB fish 4bb open w AJ, vs missed cbet 8xx bet 2/3, CALL 1/2 K W A HIGH (maybe had read on fish because he still won), cbh 4
call 3bet OOP in MP when fish cold calls, fold to 1 bb fish bet KQxss
steal in BTN w A5, cbh 976m cbh 6, cbh 3 when flush posible
open UTG 4 bb w QJo when fish is SB, call potsize fish donkbet Q9xss in 3way, call potsize 7 (allin)
resteal w KJo, cbet 1/2 JTT, c/c blank turn, check blank river
2013 01 18
call in BTN w 88 vs CO, call 2/3 Jxxfd w 2nd pair, call 2/3 9, call 1/2 K - BELIEVES THAT I AM 3 BARRELING BLUFF WHEN BETS ARE SMALL
call vs UTg w 88 OOP, check Kxx, check T, c/c blank 2/3 w 3rd pair - DOES NOT BET TURN VS MISSED FLOP CBET OOP WHEN HAS SD VAL
3bet w AK OOP, I cold call vs him IP, cbet 1/2 T44 in 3way, shove turn J 100 bb deep (fish was allin on flop) - BLUFFS TURN VS COLD CALL 3BET W GS
2 barrel KQx w flopped OESD, check T w JT sd val, saw that I am calling his SB steal w Q9o
call 3bet IP w AA, c/r small AJTfd w set

Strategy. Firs I made general conclutions and then by those conclutios created strategy.

Spoiler

----STRATEGY TO USE------
dont cbet with weak hands and Ax - bluff catch him when he bets vs missed cbets. Or try to c/r - what happens when I have only A high.

-When he has some medium sd value - he does not bet vs missed cbetss so watch out! And then bet him for value w top pairs.

-raises cbets a lot - so he might call with medium pairs. WHen he calls a bet - try to 3barrel to fold med pairs.

-when there is fish in the blinds - 3bet his UTG opens.
-Barrel him light for value when he is BTN vs CO, proabalby same applies when he is BB vs SB.
-when weak draws are posible on turn in 3bet pot - can consider calling his cbet
-Respect bets on mono boards.
-watch out small bets by him.
-watch out small raises in 3bet pots - strong.

--------Conclutions by notes-----
potentialy weak
potentially weak, maybe calls 3bet too wide.
slow plays hands on drawy multiway boards. Small bet = strong
bets IP vs missed cbet and bluffcatches turn w A high
does not bluff mono board IP
opens wide in UTG when fish is blinds
cbet 1/2 w TP 2nd kicker on paired board in 3bet pot, bluffcatch later streets OOP
vs CO in BTN calls 3 small barrlees w underpair vs me
DOES NOT BET TURN VS MISSED FLOP CBET OOP WHEN HAS SD VAL
Bluffs turn w GS+overs in 3bet pot 3way when fish was AI on flop
bluffs often flops and turns
calls 3bets IP w monsters, small raise w monster

I hope will leave place for the fish after he see me at the table

Edit:
there is another player for which I made summary:

NL20 SH A7s - is there value on river?

Conclutions and strategy

Spoiler

---Strategy to use---

-don't cbet value hands OOP, c/c instead, value from blufs. C/r for value strong hands sicne he is bluffcatching. Even do this in 3bet pots because he can have suited connectors. Especially c/r for val when he bets small.
-float on drawy boards oop, he can fold when we rep strong hand by donking
-don't try to bluff later once he calls in unraise pot
-4/bet call him w TT vs AQ+,TT+ range, even 125 bb deep
-don't put on strong range him when he does big cbet in small 3bet pot
-can consider bluffcatchin in 3bet pots with medium hands 2 streets
-be carefull when he mr postflop

---conclutions 2013 01 26----
passive in unraised 3way pots w TP
-cbet, can fold to donkbets when flush posible next street
-slows donw on turns with underpair OOP
-squeze/stack off 100 bb w AQ, also in blind battle
-3bet small OOP, big cbet in 3bet Kxx pot can be weak
-bluffcatch with 3rd pair on flop with initiative
-can bet flop, check turn, call river w tp
-mr in 3way flop - nuts
-can 2 barreal bluff in 3bet AQx OOP
-call resteals with suited connectors IP, play draws pasively in 3bet pots
-can call big c/r on turn with underpair+draw in 3way IP when I blufcatched flop vs him
-small bets IP = weak pair
-saw my blufcach light on flop and c/r bluff on turn

Strategy

Spoiler

---STRATEGY TO USE------

3bet him a lot with suited connectors, pairs, blockers suited and ofsuit. If he calls OOP, he can give up sometimes.

When we have loose 3bet image, call his steals when we are IP, he gives up often OOP on flop or on turn after cbet.

DOn't bluff raise vs cbets - he is bluffcatching. Raise for value, even on dry boards to get calls from 2nd pairs.

4bet bluff him when he is in BB - he fold so far good and has 11% resteal. Watch if he starts to notice.

when he does not show agression in 3bet pot and I have TP, bet for value, he is pasive.

Barrel for value when weak draw like GS is posible

If 3bet pot board is Kxx And we have AK, bet bet bet - he can have KQ IP

-----Conclutions 2013 01 27-----

can give up easily low paired board OOP
can cbet and give up turn to float
can give up OOP in high card 3bet pots with initiative
can give up in low card 3bet pots with initiative
not agro with medium hand in 3bet pot - tryes to see showdown
can call cbet IP in 3bet high card flop light and give up turn vs me
opens UTG loose
calls big bets 2 streets with overpair vs fish
can 3bet medium pair VS UTG IP (wastes hand)
can call 3bet light in CO OOP
calls cbets with GS OOP
cbets and bluffcatches w underpair + FD Kxx 3 streets OOP (fcbet to raise small)
small cbets might be TPTK on drawy board
can squeze w AQ vs UTG
can call 3bet OOP w AQs when deep
passive with nuts deep in 3bet pot OOP
call 3bet w KQs IP
playes passivelt top pair without init in 3bet pot

AAx board 3bet pot bets QQ 3handed OOP no cbet very small bet T +R

Went through my DB and filtered out 3bet Hands that went to showdown. He 3bets 6%, pretty much equally distributed over the different positions.

The range is: TT+,ATs+,AJo+

Game Plan:

Spoiler

Open ATC from BU if he's in BB and SB is tight as well.
Open ATC from SB if he's in BB.

3bet lots vs SB and BB, since he folds tons there.

My IP calling and 3bet (marked green) Ranges are the following; but I'm not very sure this is a good choice vs this type of villain:

4bet KK+, AKs for Value 56s-98s as bluff

AS PFR:
Can Cbet almost any Board vs him IP if he checks to us, since he has 76% Ftcbet in 3bet Pot OOP.

VS PFR:
Call AA OOP HU, since he barrels 3bet Pots like mad, so c/c flop c/s turn
Call SCs IP and raise Flop w/ equity
c/r for value on dry board, because Villain doesn't fold much to c/r, i.e. sets, two pair, combodraw i.e. top pair + draw

float him on any street and stab the pot, when he checks

AS PFR:
IP&OOP
cbet w/ equity + K/A high dry boards on Flop (high ftcbet)
cbet T only w/ Value, (very low ftcbet)

Hey Pleno,

A quick question for you:

When 6+-tabling, how do you manage to follow all the action and all the showdowns without missing anything while gathering reads?

I frequently find myself unable to follow everything because I usually miss at least the beginning of a hand (because of checking some stats for a spot on another table, thinking before making a decision @ another one, watching another hand etc.) and then I have to check the hand in the replayer, during which time I miss all the action @ other tables. And during this all I still have to tableselect, which is quite the pain given that during that time I basically have 0 vision of all the tables and it frequently takes at least some seconds to find a new table.

So basically it is an infinite, stressful loop of me trying to manage to see all the hands/showdowns + make notes of them + tableselect + still try and play poker at the same time.

And the longer I grind, the even slower the process becomes.
Should I just try and simplify my approach in any way, thus saving valuable time+energy? Do you have any magic tricks up your sleeve to deal with this?

I'm 6tabling on WPTpoker @ both regular and speed tables (no option to drop speed tables as the player pool already is mediocre)

Reducing tables = for weaklings.

Lol just lol. Can't cope with number of tables, but refuse to lower number of tables. Solid reasoning

Hey pleno :)

My question here for you!

I'm just trying to balance my range a bit and see in equilab which hands to defend from each position vs 3bets and which I can fold. Just getting my frequencies right u know. And this would be vs a good regular who also 3bets with good freq. Now my first range which I'm constructing is defendrange with our tight utg range (I mean a utg range which is on the tighter side because for example a maniac is behind us). I see we need to defend approx 47 combo's and it's easy because QQ+ and AK are 34 combo's. The thing is: QQ+ and AK = 4b/broke. So if we only call JJ and AQs (and TT), can't villain exploit or callingrange because it's so small? And also can exploit our 4b range because it's only value? So fold JJ and 4betbluff AQ? Or should we just defend more? I don't know

Okay that's copied from or chat :P. Now let me explain what I mean with tight range:

134 combo's: 66+, ATs+, KJs+, QJs, JTs, AJo+, KQo

We need to defend approx 47 combo's and QQ+, AK = 34 combo's. We need to find 13 more combo's which is easy. We can call TT, JJ, AQs. Now we have 50 combo's. But our 4bet range still isn't balanced so we need to 4bet some hands, AJs, ATs, KQs, AJo.. But this makes or defendrange rly wide already. Is this a problem lol?

The problem is that villain has such an easy time playing that callingrange. So how to fix this?
- Only 4bet and never call a 3bet.
- Call more hands like TJs

I don't know what is best tbh and I don't think I can play hands like TJs OOP so maybe only 4bet or fold? Well, than it sucks to have JJ :P

PLEASE HELP ;)

Now part 2: Our looser UTG range (198combo's) - 22+, A9s+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, T9s, ATo+, KJo+.
Defend approx 70 combo's.
Actually pretty much the same problem again. I would like to hear what you prefer to 4bet/fold and just flat with.
flat AQs, JJ, TT and 4bet AQo, AJs, ATs, QKs would already give us the amount of combo's we need but again the problem is our face-up callingrange.

Is there a way to fix this?

EDIT: Another question. Let's say you open QJs en TJs on the CO and BTN is a good aggro reg (let's take lnternet ). Do you almost always just flat these hands? Or even fold?
