Hey there, nice coaching today, really liked it.So from todays stream I understoon this :
Range, Ranges, Alot of ranges, if I understood correctly, to be profitable nowadays and move up the stakes u should have alot of diffrent ranges against diffrent opponents and in diffrent positions and situations, thats alot of ranges.
So how do we figure out these ranges in these spots that we are in ? and figure out that they are proffitable ? I mean if I have a hud and about 1k hands on an opponent I can probably make up a range that would be profitable to 3 bet him depending on his fold to 3bet, also considering his called a 3 bet stat, and go from there, but today you played without stats against unknowns and u were quite dead on, on their ranges and made proper adjustments. So theres got to be some kind of chart (?) of standart ranges against loose passive or loose agressive or tag players that can help me and others understand the concept of this and move from there on.
Atm im struggling with nl50 cant seem to get it going and want to turn a new leaf and start uping my skill, and I understand that its critical that i get this. And will be able to make my own ranges depending on the information on the opponents that I have, and it will be profitable, and will make a huge impact on my winrate and self confidence, to move higher.
Can you give more info on overbetting checked multipots ? I really do think its a goolden spot, cuz im constantly seeng 3bet multipots where people have sd value hands but dont bet because theyre scared of getting raised or whatever, and they will call, but not an overbet, theyll just think I drew out and easy fold, and if I do get called, next time ill overbet my value range and get paid ( the magic of balancing )
Guess thats it for now, but ill be back like schwarzenegger
Hey CrazyStyle,
How are you? Thanks for the nice words, but I'd also like to thank you for asking questions where others may say "thanks" ![]()
Ranges: Ok, so basically as we move up stakes, good regs will exploit us pretty hard as they will have coaches like me who will do deep "kill the reg" analysis. This means that if you are completely value orientated in certain spots (such as only betting aa vs utg) or only 3betting a value range frmo SB vs btn, then they will quickly see. Now at nl25 its not massively important, but you want to move up stakes, and this means that you need to have at least a basic game plan for when you move up the stakes, otherwise you will probably take over 100,000 hands to really understand the new stake. So I've tried to adopt advanced strategies, that are actually vv simple to people from NL25, so their overall game plan is solid and they are trying to work on it.
As well as your game improving, it also makes you think about poker on a deeper level outside of "ah lets wait for aces, value bet vs this fish etc.
Generally the first step should be to try and work out VERY basic ranges.
How do we do this?
Ok, we WANT to have a 3bet value range, a calling range and a 3bet bluffing range, vs regs.
Lets try this V simply here.
3bet value range:
AA
KK
QQ
Calling range:
AK
AQs
KQs
JJ
TT
99
88
77
Alright, so without going into exact combos, generally we need/or strive, to have as many 3bet bluffs as 3bet value hands, this means our range is "BALANCED" as we have an equal amount of value and bluff hands.
So now out of every single combination of hands, we need to try and pick 2 that go into our 3bet bluffing range.
Very simply, we should choose the best hands that we fold AND hands that have blokcers (these are generally the same) why? Well if we can 3bet KQ or 82o, of course KQ makes more sense ![]()
So our 3bet bluffing range would look something like
AQo
KQo
Once we have our basic ranges defined, i.e working out which hands we 3bet bluff co vs btn, bvb etc then we can start working really hard on our ranges, but just generally having a good understanding initially and thinking, ah Q9s, fold, "ahhhhhh actually, this is probably the best hand I would fold, so lets put it in our 3bet fold range"
