Hey yougotfelted51, thanks for stopping by (I knew the thread savers would work )

I'm definitely going for 100k VPPs, I'll have to see how it goes till June or something like that and then see If I can try to go to 200k. With this volume i'm looking at around 130-140k vpps but there's a lot more volume I can put in.

Yesterday was a pretty good day even though I did spew away some money at the end. I also realized that most of the regs don't have a 4bet bluffing range, or I just kept running into their AAs and KKs.
Also I started to exploit my image, which is pretty laggy, by 4betting more, especially vs resteals from the blinds because people have started to 3bet me lighter but they fold a ton to my 4bets.

Today I'm gonna have my MTT sunday, finally. I have missed last several sundays and I look forward to playing the tournaments and shipping the sunday storm ofc. I will start with some more CG though and will fire up the tourneys at around 7pm.

Cheers

I turned a small profit on sunday. Broke even in CG and won small at tourneys. I didn't play many tournaments and I mincashed the sunday storm and went deep in bigger $8.8 for ~$50.

I have two interesting hands from CG:

1) This one was against a passive fish. I know a few things about passive fish, firstly they don't like aggression, they don't like all ins, and they only look at their own hand and go from there. This is why I shoved this river even though it's not recommendable against a different type of fish.

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

SB: $50 (100 bb)
BB: $60.95 (121.9 bb)
UTG: $34.83 (69.7 bb)
MP: $50 (100 bb)
Hero (CO): $56.31 (112.6 bb)
BTN: $40.48 (81 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J♠ Q♠
UTG calls $0.50, MP raises to $1.75, Hero calls $1.75, BTN folds, SB calls $1.50, BB folds, UTG calls $1.25

Flop: ($7.50) 7♣ T♦ K♦ (4 players)
SB checks, UTG bets $2, MP folds, Hero calls $2, SB folds

Turn: ($11.50) 2♠ (2 players)
UTG bets $3, Hero calls $3

River: ($17.50) 4♣ (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $49.56 and is all-in, UTG folds

Results: $17.50 pot ($0.79 rake)
Final Board: 7♣ T♦ K♦ 2♠ 4♣
UTG mucked and lost (-$6.75 net)
Hero mucked J♠ Q♠ and won $16.71 ($9.96 net)

2) This one is purely for my readers' amusement. I also posted it in the 'hand of the day' thread.

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

Hero (UTG): $50 (100 bb)
MP: $128.70 (257.4 bb)

SB: $19.50 (39 bb)
BB: $36.35 (72.7 bb)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A♦ K♥
Hero raises to $1.50, MP calls $1.50, CO folds, BTN raises to $4.50, SB folds, BB calls $4, Hero raises to $11, 2 folds, BB raises to $36.35 and is all-in, Hero calls $25.35

Flop: ($78.95) 7♥ T♦ 3♠ (2 players, 1 is all-in)
Turn: ($78.95) J♥ (2 players, 1 is all-in)
River: ($78.95) 3♦ (2 players, 1 is all-in)

Results: $78.95 pot ($2.50 rake)
Final Board: 7♥ T♦ 3♠ J♥ 3♦
Hero showed A♦ K♥ and lost (-$36.35 net)
BB showed 7♠ 2♠ and won $76.45 ($40.10 net)

I'm not really in the super great mood for grinding but I'm sure I'll play a bit since I have nothing better to do.

Ok, I know, u want something interesting in this blog... :P

glad this worked vs a fish, but honestly i dont see anyone with half a brain folding just about anything on this river, whats your valuerange here after the flop and turn action? flatted K4s pre? double floated 44 in a 4way pot?

just screams of exactly what it is

Hey zumpar, thanks for contributing to this thread :)

I agree that this is not a normal move and I never do it vs normal opponents. I just learned over time that such players just hate all ins. This guy plays 70/7 with 0% 3bet and 1.8 AF. Agreed its a double edged sword since you never know with these passive stations once they show a little aggression. At first I called for a cheap draw and would just give up to a river bet, but when he checked the river I thought he had to have a weak showdown hand and is trying to pot control or is just giving up his missed draw since that's what passive fish donk IMO. They almost never donk sets and top two pair since it's just in their nature to c/call with strong hands, at least on the flop and turn, so he is left with 1 pair kind of hands and draws which he can fold on a huge overbet on the river even if I don't represent much although I could have sets and two pair hands in his eyes I guess.

That's my thought process there but this hand should really be viewed in a vacuum. I would definitely look stupid if he snapped me off with AT :f_biggrin:

Had a nice session this morning. Started well, and then all of a sudden everyone kept hitting crazy stuff and I ended up running into top of everyone's range, also all regs sucked out on me at least once but I fought back and ended the session 2.5 BIs in the green. I am very happy with how I played and I seem to be getting a good grip of NL50.

Here are some hands:

1) Villain is pretty fishy but I didn't know that at the time. After 212 hands turned up to be pretty aggro postflop but passive preflop. He was playing 40/8, 3bet 1%, AF 3.5. Is this a weak fold?

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players

CO: $53.40 (106.8 bb)
BTN: $39.09 (78.2 bb)
SB: $63.30 (126.6 bb)
BB: $50 (100 bb)
Hero (MP): $52.51 (105 bb)

Preflop: Hero is MP with A♦ A♣
Hero raises to $1.50, CO folds, BTN calls $1.50, SB calls $1.25, BB folds

Flop: ($5) 4♦ 5♠ 6♦ (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $2.50, BTN raises to $7.50, 2 folds

Results: $10 pot ($0.45 rake)
Final Board: 4♦ 5♠ 6♦
BTN mucked and won $9.55 ($5.55 net)
SB mucked and lost (-$1.50 net)
Hero mucked A♦ A♣ and lost (-$4 net)

2) This one was against a reg. We had a lot of 3betting action on more tables. I decided to donk this flop to confuse him a bit because I haven't done it before. After he just calls and I hit TP I'm pretty sure I have the best hand which is why I c/call, but now when I look at it I maybe should have just c/ shoved. Anyway, when the board pairs i check with the intention of calling because he is most likely to bet since I look like I'm scared of that Q on the turn. Unfortunately, lucky bastard got his backdoor crap...

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players

CO: $65.42 (130.8 bb)
BTN: $55.92 (111.8 bb)
Hero (SB): $62.07 (124.1 bb)
BB: $119.16 (238.3 bb)
MP: $50 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q♠ K♣
3 folds, Hero raises to $1, BB raises to $4.50, Hero calls $3.50

Flop: ($9) 4♥ 6♦ T♣ (2 players)
Hero bets $4.50, BB calls $4.50

Turn: ($18) Q♥ (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $11.75, Hero calls $11.75

River: ($41.50) 6♥ (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $39.50, Hero raises to $41.32 and is all-in, BB calls $1.82

Results: $124.14 pot ($2.50 rake)
Final Board: 4♥ 6♦ T♣ Q♥ 6♥
Hero showed Q♠ K♣ and lost (-$62.07 net)
BB showed K♥ 5♥ and won $121.64 ($59.57 net)

3) This one was against a fish who has been around for a few days, not sure how since he's losing a lot. He plays 46/25 over 522 hands and when he checks turn I'm going for value and K on the river doesn't really bother me that much and I decide to bet small to get value from some weak hands he just can't fold to a small bet. When he raises I think he's FoS and just tries to re raise my small bet.

River: ($29.25) K♠ (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $9, MP raises to $23.25, Hero calls $14.25

Spoiler

Results: $75.75 pot ($2.50 rake) Final Board: 6♥ J♦ T♣ 8♣ K♠ MP showed Q♣ A♥ and won $73.25 ($37.50 net) Hero mucked J♥ T♦ and lost (-$35.75 net)

4) Finally this is a funny one. Missclicked, then tried to get the most of it by 3betting, and then got lucky on the river after barrelling :) I thought he was gonna call me for sure on the river but he ended up folding. He said he had AK.

I'm gonna play some more now, since I'm feeling very good about my game.

Didn't play poker since Sunday when I played some CG and donkaments in the evening. Finished ~800th at sunday storm for ~100$... still waiting for that final table :P
Last two days I only worked on poker off the tables which was quite refreshing. I watched a few videos and yesterday I sweated a friend at nl200 which was a very nice experience.

I'll be back at the tables tonight and I hope I'll crush after 2 days rest and a lot of learning and reviewing I've done.

This one is a little tough. Or is it? Villain is a passive fish and I can't see many Js in his range. I thought he could have 2 pair on the flop or maybe a set and all draws ofc. I guess I made a crying call. Would you do anything differently?

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

UTG: $79.50 (159 bb)
MP: $80.68 (161.4 bb)
CO: $66.39 (132.8 bb)
BTN: $33.25 (66.5 bb)
SB: $64.09 (128.2 bb)
Hero (BB): $52 (104 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q :diamond: K
UTG raises to $1.50, 2 folds, BTN calls $1.50, SB calls $1.25, Hero calls $1

Flop: ($6) K :club: 5  T :club: (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $4, UTG folds, BTN calls $4, SB folds

Turn: ($14) Q  (2 players)
Hero bets $11, BTN calls $11

River: ($36) A :spade: (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $16.75 and is all-in, Hero calls $16.75

Why do you check here if he is a passive fish, do you have his river aggresion. If he is a fish i just bet all of his money here.

This one is agains a fish who was very spewy and tilty. Would someone flat here?

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

Hero (BB): $140.52 (281 bb)
UTG: $50 (100 bb)
MP: $44.73 (89.5 bb)
CO: $51.25 (102.5 bb)
BTN: $76.75 (153.5 bb)
SB: $80.02 (160 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6  7
4 folds, SB completes, Hero checks

Flop: ($1) K :spade: T  2  (2 players)
SB bets $0.50, Hero raises to $1.50, SB raises to $4, Hero calls $2.50

Turn: ($9) 9  (2 players)
SB bets $8, Hero calls $8

River: ($25) 8 :diamond: (2 players)
SB bets $22, Hero raises to $128.02 and is all-in, SB calls $45.52

No flatting here if he is what you said a very tilty spewy guy.NH!

This one is against a big nit. I kept stealing his blinds even though he had direct position on me. He fought back once or twice but that's it. There are a couple of lines I could take here and I'm not sure what's the best one. I could just raise flop and hop to get it in; I opted for the second one, which is just to flat and raise turn; but then I thought I might have called the turn too.

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players

MP: $77.59 (155.2 bb)
CO: $50.75 (101.5 bb)
Hero (BTN): $64.54 (129.1 bb)
SB: $75.98 (152 bb)
BB: $70.91 (141.8 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 4 :diamond: 4 :club:
MP folds, CO raises to $1.50, Hero calls $1.50, SB raises to $6.50, 2 folds, Hero calls $5

Flop: ($15) 8 :diamond: T :club: 4 :spade: (2 players)
SB bets $8, Hero calls $8

Turn: ($31) 6 :diamond: (2 players)
SB bets $17.50, Hero raises to $50.04, SB folds

Why do you call pf?what is his squeezeing stat, what is his 3bet stat from the blinds. How much of a nit is he.if he has 3 % 3bet you could call and ch/fold flop, but i can estimate he has 7 to 10 % so i would not call this pf.His bets are weak so he is behind , call turn and destroy river.

Hand 1: I check river to let him bluff me with his missed draws or worse two pairs. If I bet I'm only getting called by a better hand.

Hand 2: ty, that's a relief to know that it's just a pure stack off.

Hand 3: Don't really remember why I called, in retrospect, it's not a good thing but I guess I just wanted to get under his skin. I guess flop raise or river raise would have been better, but maybe he just haid AK or something...

Yes you ca do that with an overaggresive guy i think, but with a passive fish, he never ( almost never ) bluffs the river, for the first hand.

He also doesn't call with worse, so no use turning my hand into a bluff. That's why I said it was a crying call, and this time he did bluff with his busted FD :f_cool:

Not calling with an A? I dont think so, even a KT,QT, i'll put a hand that a had last night on my blog so that you'll see with which hands do "they call".I went all in on the river by the way.But also if you have a note on him than it's a NH! Why do those big crying calls?

At hand one again he is a passive fish, that's the man you make your money, if he was a solid opponent with a fold to cbet of 65% than that's good, but with a passive fish, do passive fishes bluff with missed draws?

I hope don't get annoyed of my posts, but i think it's constructive.GL!

Ofc I'm not annoyed :) The more comments, the better, so keep them coming.

As for the discussion, not all fish are the same, some call with bot pair, but some fold. This guy doesn't really have an Ace in his range, It's either 2pair, a J or some 1 pair hands below ace or busted draws right?

So I haven't updated the blog in a few days. I've had a massive downswing of ~25 BIs in two days midweek. Most of the downswing came from HU so I decided to stop playing it for a while. It is true that I ran like Antarctica but that certainly made me go on tilt and spew more than I should have so I'm done with HU for a while.
I went back to 6max and started my climb back and it's going good so far, I'm up ~15 BIs for the weekend and I'm back in the green for the month. I did get a lot of premium hands and combined with my image it paid off really nicely.

I'll be back soon with some nice hands.

Cheers!
