Well,

For the second time, I starte well at NL10, and then a down comes.

So, I was reflecting about this, and the cocnlusion was that +pheraps I am not prepared to de NL10. I am only climbing the limits, based on the bancroll, but it may not be the best way to measure that.

Another thing that I am doing is to be very focused on $$$ results. This is bad also.

So, the decision is, in the next months (as many as necessary) is to imprrove may game only. I will not be focused on $$$ anymore. I want to improove my winrate.

For this i wil do the folowing:
- Play NL5
- Try SH again. I think that I will improove more may postflop game in shorthanded, since we are there more times than in FR.
- Play at least 15k hands without any stats on the HUD. I want to improove my Observing skills and taking notes skills.
- More study. At least, I will always make the sessionreview of the previouse session, before start the next one.
- And of course read the gold articles and the gold videos. Despite the gold stuff is for higher limits, but there is always something to learn.
- i will only "climb" to NL10, when I feel may game solid anda capable to beat the limit.

Well, some changes. But I think it will be +ev to the future.

What do you think? Do you have any advice?

Your new plan looks good.

I also recommend that you spend some time and review your 10nl shots and see where exactly things went wrong. It's possible that variance played a major role but it's usually a combination of variance, poor play, tilt and fear of new limit.

I would also advice that you keep some basic HUD and stay away from looking at stats that would take a big sample to be worth looking at. For example I would keep stats as PFR/VPIP/3-bet and some postflop stats like cbet/foldcbet and so on. And then you can force yourself to pay more attention to players and take notes.

Given you have enough of a bankroll you can always try 10nl shots whenever you feel at the top of your game.

So let's say THU/FRI you play 5nl but Saturday you feel really good, refreshed, pumped up, etc. so maybe you should try a 10nl session. Then on Sunday you can go back to 5nl and so on. This way you will ease in the new limit especially if you really feel the pressure of moving up (when you do).

Best of luck and keep me posted.

Bogdan

Tks bogdand, for you advice.

I will use the base stats.

My normal Hud is:
VPIP/PFR/AF/Steal/fold to steal
CBET Flop/Fold to cbet flop/3bet/Went to showdown

But tneh I have the popup with all the oter stats.

FOr now I have around 2k in SH NL5, and my stats are 24/20.
What do you think about that? is it too loose?

Lets first start with what YOU think is the best play.

Some hints:

1) always look at positions
2) always look at player type
3) always look at stack sizes
4) always look at players left to act
5) always look at bet sizes

Well,

1: When I am OOP I never call a 3bet/4bet with Ak. I fold or raise/shove. In position, sometimes a call a 3bet.

2: With a bad player, I would go AI most frequently than against a tight regular player. Sometimes, in the blind battle, even against regular players, it go broke with AK, but I don't like it very much

3: Against a bad loose player with less than 100bb, I go broke with AK if he has a hig range of 3bet/4bet, or if i have some reads that he goes broke with Ax, for Ex. Yesterday I made a 4bet AI with AQs againsta a 50bb player that calls me with Q9!!! hehe

4: When someone 3bets or 4bets and after me, it will be another player left, I do not gor broke with Ak. I fold or call only to play IP in the flop

5: About betsizes, Usualy a 4bet but not AI, means AA or KK. When someone 4bets to go broke, it could means a Ak or QQ or worse, depending on the oter analisys.

Is this correct?

I agree that you should rarely ever call 3-bets OOP with AK, especially AKo. Depending on positions we should 4-bet/call or fold (for example UTG vs tight BB 3-bet).

2: With a bad player, I would go AI most frequently than against a tight regular player. Sometimes, in the blind battle, even against regular players, it go broke with AK, but I don't like it very much

Don't forget why you would 4-bet. If the regular is tight but you are resteal positions he may 3-bet you a lot to steal the pot. So you 4-bet back to re-steal the pot from him and if he shoves we generally have enough equity to make the call. But it's really all about that dead money that we can collect with a 4-bet.

3: Against a bad loose player with less than 100bb, I go broke with AK if he has a hig range of 3bet/4bet, or if i have some reads that he goes broke with Ax, for Ex. Yesterday I made a 4bet AI with AQs againsta a 50bb player that calls me with Q9!!! hehe

Well said.

4: When someone 3bets or 4bets and after me, it will be another player left, I do not gor broke with Ak. I fold or call only to play IP in the flop

Are you talking about spots where someone squeezes? So we raised, get called and then get 3-bet?

5: About betsizes, Usualy a 4bet but not AI, means AA or KK. When someone 4bets to go broke, it could means a Ak or QQ or worse, depending on the oter analisys.

That's not always true. As you move up in limits you will see smaller 3-bets and 4-bets. That's because people can do it for ligther value or more bluffs.
Is this correct?

Tks for the answers. It is getting "clear" now hoe to play AK. hehe

Maybe the "secret" of this is what you said on #2. Is all about dead money. Here is the +EV of being agressive with AK. Is that correct?

About tuour questiona in #4

Yes, that's an example. Rareky it hapends something like this also: I 3bet, get a cold call (it happends a lot in these limits) and someone 4 bets after.

#5 Well, I only have experiÊnce until NL10, ando noto so much in here. In NL5, usualy a 4bets means AA or KK from a reg. If they have AK or QQ for ex, they 4bet shove to get maximum FE. But of course it is not alway true. hehe

About the last month, it was a month wher I made a lot of experiences to try to make a plan for the future.

So, I playd NL5 SH, NL5 FR, SNG 18m, SNG 45m Regulars and turbos and some MTT.

It is always fun to play tournaments. hehe. But its a diferent game, specialy the turbos. (That is the one I can play because of the limited time I have, about 1h30 to 2h a day). We ara 90% of the time in push or fold, so the after flops game almos t doesen't exist.

On the nest 16th I will try my first live MTT at a CAsino. hehe. So I decided to play SNG's 18 men/45men until 16th and some MTT if I have time, and after that play NL5 FR until the end of the month.

Then maybe I will have a plan like these, maybe 3 weeks of cash and 1 week of tournaments. I also like to play them:)

Exactly, it's all about the dead money and way too often we forget when we look to 4-bet or 5-bet.

Unless we have KK or AA we won't have a huge equity advantage when all the money goes in the middle so the profit will come from us taking down pots before the money goes all in.

You always want to play what makes you happy but you have to realize that tournaments, especially t he turbo ones have insanely high variance so if you can't put in a lot of volume you are better off not playing them at all.

Sure you can hit big in one but that's like playing the lotto (without playing a lot of them).

Hummm...

That's correct. I am doing well with them, but not with amazing results. I always get at least 1 ITM in each session of 6 SNG's. But I know that the variânce can start, and be a lot of time without ITM.

Well, my main game is cash, so I will spend a the biggest part of my time in the cash

About the tournaments, I will think about that.
Another option is what I was doing before. Friday night (I can be awake until later) I use to play some MTT, only for fun, and who knows if I can win one and get a big prize. hehe

This last weekend I played some hands in NL5 FR, with good resultas. Something about 4BI up.

Now I have to focus on improoving the hand/range reading of the villians. DO you have any advice on how is the best way to imprrove that? A way of study?

Bogdan,

I am watching some cosching ans videos palyed in SH tables.

Does it make a lot of difference for me, who plays FR?

Is that anything that is very very different that I can not apply in FR?

Hi Kony,

As long as you look for the logic/thought process used by the coach you'll be fine. You don't want to look at the ranges used there and then apply them to FR. So for example copy the UTG open ranges.

But if you understand why the coach is doing something that can really help you out.

Congrats on your good session.

Since MTTs take forever to complete and are generally slow you can always play some cash games at the same time (given you don't play many MTT/SNG together).

As far as your question for improving hand/range reading you can always review your sessions and do exercises with equilab (as well as watch videos).

How's 10 nl treating you?

The sample is not huge with the new hands but some of your numbers have gotten better.

On the river you are still quite passive in plenty of spots (like EP/MP/CO).

What other changes have you made to your game and how did you like them?

Hi.

For now I am still in NL5, I will start soon at NL10, maybe even today. hehe
So, at the end of the month I will have some results.

The imprrovments I made to may game is, first of all, not watching the results during the session, neither at the end.
Only twice a month, or something like that.
With this mindset improovment, my game has get a lot better, since I started to play only thinking in the best way to play the hand and not result oriented.

In the game, I started to spot good moments To bluf or semibluff, like when a scary card comes, or when a possible flush completes.
i also started to play more hands, that is giving me more experience on playing the post-flop.

What I think I have to improove is the agressivity. Learn how to play check/raise for value and also for bluff.
Be able to bluff all the stack. For now I only bluff small pots. hehe.
And I still need to improove the handreading.

I only posted these stats, becaus I think it makes no sense to poste the otehrs befors, since I made a lot of experiences, and my game has changed.
So, I will be posting the stats since 01/03/2013. :)

Nest month it will be with somethin around 30k hands. hehe
