How strong are these hands?

9987ss is a very decent hand... I open it from every possition. JT99r is ofc weaker, as it's rainbow, so i'd open it from the CO on.

7655r is very weak... I open it from the btn
KQJJss is very strong... You can open it from all over Same goes with a789ss, which is like a premium hand compared to KT98ss, cause it can make a nutflush

I would not open it from UTG definitely! And from MP I would not open it on all tables (only the ones with tight CO and BTN).

Rui, you play 6 max? I would almost always open that hand from UTG even if I had some one 3 betting me a bunch on the button

I can't really see any reason to open it from UTG.

Yeah I can see why its better, whenever you hit a set its more likely to be nuttier. Also you can make much better straights which obv dominate the 9 high hand.

I just prefer the 9 high hand because it's a lot more playable imo. When the flop comes you know where you are. I have been in situations with hands like JJ109r where it becomes very vulnerable and hard to play oop. Whereas with the 9 high hand you're usually getting it in as a fav on the flop against 2 pair type hands and flipping against set hands

With 9987ss you will know where you are, but with JJT9ss you won't? That doesn't really make sense. Both hands have similar problems (biggest one is the medium flush draw) but JJT9's marginal hits are little bit stronger than with 9987's. Also with nines you will hit middle set more often than with jacks. And you will hit non-nut straight more often than with JJT9.

Especially when opening from UTG, it's a lot nicer to have as much nut potential in your hand as possible. You will find yourself in multiway pots oop quite often, and drawing to non-nuts will get you into trouble.

To me it depends:
Once I open a hand, can I call 3-bet and how often do I ever get 3-bet
I would fold 7655, because he has no suits, and very likely open every other hand in 6-max table, since I can comfortable call 3-bets . Also they are playing OK postflop and I usually does not end too many difficult situations. Most of the times it is going to be anyway c-bet/fold situations or c/f situations 3-way.
