I think you played well. after the 3bet it looks so bad with your AK and i could only fold here.

edit: oh i didnt see you raised. hmm. that sucks. then i actually got no clue lol.

BB looks very tight and he got a freeplay in the bb so you have to put all the 5x hands into his range, combined with his tight stats, i would just call the turn as i expect him to have the straight or 2pair quite too many times to feel comfortable with raising. AK may look stronger than it really is. If the Read on BB is proved, fold is fine but also against unknown i would just call down since donk looks strong and i feel myself committed to show down my hand, even though his 3bet is most likely the straight.

i raised to get a free showdown , it is not a good way to balance the turn raises ? or this is not a good spot ?

I hate this reasoning

Why would you raise here except because you feel you have the best hand? You have nothing to "protect your hand" against because the SB isn't folding a Flush draw even for 2 bets and you hold the best possible Ace so there's no sense trying to get an Ace to fold either.

Raising TPTK "for showdown" is pretty much never correct. You are raising for value.

I really dont know what his DB mean, it could be a weak Ace, PPs, 2 pairs or yeah the 5x, i just cbet the flop which i would cbet almost 100%, he just doesnt want me to check behind.

The only Hand it makes sense to raise against is a small ace but you have to ask yourself:

If he doesn't dare raising the flop with toppair, why should he now donk this awful turncard?

Most of his combos will be 2pair or the straight and as boomer said: Flushdraw won't fold and a hand like A8 doesn't have significant outs against you. And if you just call, you may force SB to call a weak hand like A7 that he would have otherwise folded to donk and raise.

it's too thin to raise and then not knowing what to do if facing a 3bet.

In close situations like this, better proceed passively but be sure to see the showdown. :)

To BB the 5 is not that awful since i am raising from CO the only 5 i can have is with the 55, i imagine he might DB a Ax to extract value from the SB donkey or a PP from me, idk, its hard to figure it out what a player is holding with almost no info , thanks for the feedback :)

Hey guys :)

Great to see a controversial thread in progress. I just want to focus on the decisions at play here.

When we raise the turn I think it does feel like a free SD raise... but when we FSDR its generally with the intention of (1) occasionally getting a better hand to fold, (2) having an easy decision if faced with a 3-bet, and (3) we also want to have the potential to improve to something that we really want to value bet on the river.

Here, if we consider this criteria to be accurate, a Free SD Raise seems counterproductive. (1) When we do raise on the turn it does tend to get some folds... but its usually from worse hands and typically hands with very little equity.

(2) If faced with a 3-bet our decision is not so difficult... but I'd argue we could have between 0 and 11 outs. In other words, vs a 3-bet we have a high variance draw. Vs unknowns, its typically a decent option to avoid super high variance spots. They're often exploitative in general, and without more information we cannot know how to respond vs their decisions.

(3) Our FSDR is successful every single time our opponent simply calls and checks ot us on the river. Now we have the option to check back or bet with improvement. On which rivers do we have the clear intention to bet for value? I'd argue that against an unknown there are no such river cards with TPTK on a turn with 4-straight.

So in this case, with many things considered I would simply call the turn lead. If theres a raise and 3-bet behind we can probably fold. Vs 1 raise, we are again in that high-variance turn decision and need to consider our options. I would generally call one and fold the river if the board (or our holecards) do not pair again. I would tend to show down for 1 bet if the board was 5-straight on the river.
