Well TT pointed me towards that thread, so he must think that the rake at plo is a serious issue. Guess I just need to get up to pl200 soon (lower rake, but also moving up to where they respect my raises ♦ )

Decided to try Rush today. No player pool at plo50/100 but if you sit on a Sunday, the fish will surely come... Got stacked by a fish at plo50, so obv moved up to plo100 to get even. He insta joined me and we tussled for an hour or so.

I can give you many reasons NOT to play PLO:
-harder to mass multitabling /autopilot
-not higher winrate than NLHE (Am I right?)
-need bigger BR than NLHE thus slower to moving up

It's not harder to multitable in PLO. Once you learn the game, it's pretty much the same situations that happen over and over again. You still have to think a lot, but the thinking is little different than in HE. In HE you have to think about preflop ranges and numbers, while in PLO you have to think postflop stuff.

About the winrate, I would say it's the same in both.

PLO has more swings, but there are lots of different BRM's. It might be slower to move up but still there's a LOT more that affects moving up than just BRM. BRM doesn't mean a thing if you can't even win. And if you can win, it doesn't mean you can win at higher stakes. If you are such a good player that you win at your own stakes and at the next one, it shouldn't be a problem moving up.

I have one reason why one should play PLO:

It's fun. And it's more about playing against the opponents than finding the perfect balance to your ranges and tendencies. Less mathematics, more "real" poker.

I would say that a lot of HE grinders would improve their game if they learned some PLO.

So me and Mrs Tim64 are off on the Eurostar to Bruges tomorrow. As a lawyer I worked on the legal infrastructure contracts for the CTRL (Channel Tunnel Rail Link) from King's Cross to the Channel Tunnel entrance in Kent. It will be cool to finally take that train.... (I left work before I could see all the legal arrangements completed and left London before the actual construction was done).

Desirable in my country too, but it got in the way of my sitting around in my underpants gambling all day long plan

Srsly tho, it was pretty stressful at times (like moving up limits then losing 85 buyins immediately kind of stressful)

Really interesting to hear someone describe real-life-career stress in terms of poker stress, which I've never heard done before; if being a lawyer is genuinely _that_ stressful (as a downswing from Hell) then no wonder you packed it in for the underwear plan. Somehow I feel weirdly reassured that deciding to play poker was the right choice.

Any chance you could elaborate on what exactly about law was stressful?
