Was doing well for today. Ran like shit but fought back to break even, then this:

BB checks, Hero bets $3.53, BB calls $3.53

River: ($12.11) 5 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $3.00, BB raises to $12.56, Hero calls $9.56

I know it's my mistake to call the river. But I felt pot committed ( I already committed 90bbs before he shoved and I was close to break even for the session and I was hoping he's bluffing or has JT)

But seriously, when I get unlucky, why must it be against a deep stack? I just don't get it.

180bbs gone like that. Why set me up like that? Why can't I just lose it to a 100bb stack?

that's not the definition of pot commited. you have invested 90bb, but there are another 90bb to invest

when you make a block bet on the river you absolutely must already have planned out your reaction to a raise.
it "never" happens, but when it happens huge mistakes can happen easily if you didn't plan beforehand.

I'm really bad at playing deep stacks (little experience) Often I'm not sure about bet sizing, whether to pot control etc.

Would be nice if there's an article/video on deep stack play.

I reckon that there is no real thing as 'pot committed' as many people think of it. The only real commitment imo is when the pot odds and your equity against opponents perceived range commit you to the pot. You can put in 80% of your stack but if that last 20% has to go in on the river and you're winning 0% of the time, then its a fold and you're essentially winning 20bb by not having this idea. How the 80bb got in the middle in the first place is a different story in this hypothetical though.

Tommy, I think even if you're not deepstacked a much bigger raise on that flop is in order. The odds you give him on the flop are just far too good.

Sucked out, coolered. Missing flops like crazy. 23.8% WTSD, 38% W$SD. says it all.

Profit haul for past 2 days= $46 so I can't feel too sad still.

This is one of the biggest trolls in my life so far.

1. Win $80

2. Lose it in a downswing within 2 days.

I'm being honest to myself and you guys, besides 2.5 BIs which I admit I lost due to mistakes, all the other hands I did my best to play my A game.

It might be an idea to arrange some sweat sessions. Having someone else offer a fresh perspective on your game can really help...

Why did you bet the river when their are 3 spades?

Either he had the nuts flush and planned to checked / raised or he has some other flush, but not that strong and did not want to invest any more in case you have the higher flush.

And you bet weak on the river, like 25 % of the pot, I'll shove any day if i was the villain with any flush, since you look weak and I beat straights/sets/some flush and you cant make a full house.

Not betting the river just because a spade came would be criminal.

Rasie bigger OTF bet turn for prot and bet fold that ugly river. A villian at those stakes rarley has a bluff they are always having a made hand, And I don't belive they turn their two pairs into bluff tbh.

Definitely raise flop bigger, his bet is rather weak there.

I think he shouldn't have that many fd's on his range, but KQ is definitely possible, ofc AK is there and sometimes AQ/AJs. SO I think checking-back isn't that bad, you can't extract that much value and some villain might actually bluff you out after you showed so much weakness. You shouldn't bet as it would be bet/fold in this case.

This blog is similar to my story

Played a small speed session today. Had 2 guys from my study group sweat me. Learned more about my obvious leaks. Played pretty sound today too (It's harder to tilt when two people are watching you, must be my ego). And I ran quite good mostly.

Some obvious leaks:
Value bet sizing (could be bigger sometimes)
Flop cbetting (Missed some good spots to cbet, sizing is sometimes a problem too)
Turn and river decisions

Will keep working on it. And hopefully finish the month well.

I skimmed through your whole blog today and I have noticed one major leak:

You are a calling station. You are scared to click the fold button when you are beat. You overestimate your top pair almost all the time and you seem like you would go all in on the flop with a top pair, I think you shouldn't be afraid to fold more!

That was mainly in the past though, before and during my downswing at the start of the month. Think I fixed it mostly. Now I only make stupid hero calls when I tilt.

I have other leaks to address now though.

Had a super run good session today! Got overpair in vs set once, set vs straight once, ran KK into AA and QQ into AA. And I won all 4 of them ♦

Hence I'm sooo above EV:

Decisions are mostly good today. Rarely missed out a value bet spot. So I kind of maximised the value I got today ♦

My study group has been helping me a bunch. Really improved a lot ever since discussing poker with them ♦

I will do an April review tomorrow or 1st May. Tomorrow is the last chance for me to make April a winning month (Highly unlikely but I'm not going to expect anything other than my A game)
