River: (28.4 BB, 2 players) 5♠
BB bets 16 BB, Hero calls 16 BB

When the villain calls on the flop I have him on an ace...or possibly a flush draw...maybe a big pair that doesn't want to lay down. I checked the Turn hoping no flush cards came on the river. When he bets there on the river...Odds of him having an ace are small...if he does there's only 2 kickers he'd beat me with...and if he has anything else like sets I'd win...

I felt I had to call the 1/2 pot bet...

Hi Edukator99,

Preflop: looks fine

Postflop: We can even make it 9-10 on the flop. Checking the turn and giving free cards + losing value is a big mistake. His sample is nothing so I'd bet again.

hihi edu

i like your flop bet but i would follow that up with a turn bet too. we usually have the best hand and when we check we lose value from worst A. there are only AK AQ and A7 A9 being better aces than us, we would expect AK(sometimes AQ) to 3bet so that leaves us with lesser combos that we lose to.
we also want to get value from flush draws and stubborn 7x, and pp that still want to call our bets since backdoor flushdraw also hits on the turn.

cheers

So you think the call on the river was a good idea?

I actually checked the turn because I couldn't see him calling without an A and was worried about AK, AQ
