The second step to increasing viewership of course is SPAM
Juuuuust kiddin'
Had a chat with one of our community member's Avataren about how to proceed at low micros, and I'm wondering if low stakes ($1.50, $3.50 & $7.00) HU SNGs might not be interesting as something for someone at hose stakes interested in developing their game to do
The competition is weak, the rake is low, therefore you get a much more pure HUHU experience rather than either rake or reg dodging, of course you still have to avoid deliberately sitting vs regs but you're not both punished to the same degree as you would be playing HUHU at say 0.25/0.5 where you'd lose about 3c per hand to the rake (which is 25% of what you pay for a full $1.50 HUHUSNG)
The added advantage of something like this as well is that you get to understand the fundementals construction of the game to a great degree, my favourite things like balance, and you also get to poke holes in your weaker opponent's games without the website poking holes in your bankroll.
If there's interest in this I might play a few hundred HUHU SNGs at the micros as part of my challenge (what the hell right might as well see if it's an option). I'll mix in some Turbos too again if there's interest.
I just played a couple today to relax a bit and one was a surreal experience:
My opponent was an 83/15 straightforward fishy player. He had a flop fold to C-Bet of 50!! (btw this means I can bet any 2 cards and then give up and still show a profit).
It took me 166 hands to put him away and even then it took him spewing off his stack when I'd made a flush
I don't think I played brilliantly, I definitely took advantage of his tendencies but I still played the value of my hand preflop, I should have just been raising any 2 cards and c-betting as it was so profitable...my actually raise form the SB was 74 due to the utter crap I was getting dealt (like I'll fold the bottom 5-10% of hand tops with a no rake structure (still too tight probs) and I folded 25% in a 166 hand match...go figure.
Additionally I ran 37 (yeah that's how much he folded) WTSD and 40 W@SD, pretty sure vs anyone remotely aggresive I lose this but fortunately my WWSF% of 60 saw me through
Got to admit I do enjoy HUHU, it's just the rake and the mega bumhunting which keeps me away, it's even happening at micro 6-max now. Sorry, but if it's a SNG....only 1 man leaves and you stay till it's done!!
As an addendum a while back madorjan and I played each other at 5c/10c HUHU for fun and we paid $6 in rake between us in a 300 hand match....which would you rather do?
