Hello everyone!

I'm sort of an active member at Poker Strategy Portuguese Forum and I decided to visit more often the English forum in order to develop my english and learn more about poker. So here's my blog and life/poker journey:

The Beginning

I was about thirteen/fourteen years old when I started becoming interested in poker. I then discovered Pokerstrategy and I was surprised it was possible to play real money Poker without making an investment. Even at such tender age I was looking forward to win some money without investing a dime. That lead me to study Poker matters in order to pass the Pokerstrategy's Quiz and start playing real cash.

50$ at Fulltilt!!! I was amazed! It wasn't a scam and I really had 50$ at a Pokersite!

The Downfall and Comeback

I was really young and money management wasn't really looking bright for me. I stopped studying and thought poker was easy money. My poker money fell immediately below the 20$ mark. Looking back now I realize it isn't very much of a surprise since I was too young for the seriousness of poker.

At 17 years old Poker grew back in me, I don't now why. I went to Fulltilt to see if I still had any fuel in the tank. I think I had 16$. Great, let's see if I can stretch this...Went reading Pokerstrategy articles again and it was like I was learning it all for the first time. After some studying and training I managed to win my 50$ again from the 16$ I still had. Since that time I've been playing almost everyday and I turned 18 so now it is not illegal for me to play and cashout. I had some help with some milestones at my bank too.

The Present

I'm currently multitabbling 10 NL5 fullring tables at Pokerstars , playing Big Stack Strategy. I also started recently playing at William Hill to win Strategy Points. There I play 4 NL2 SH Tables. I play almost everyday for about 2 hours minimum. Poker is becoming part of my life. I try to study everytime I can and I try to analyse all the dubious hands (I mark them at HM2) of every session.

My current objectives are:

-Start playing at NL10
-Watch all No Limit Pokerstrategy's Coaching Sessions.
-Reading articles/Watching Videos/Reading Books everytime I'm available.

The longtime objectives are of course becoming a regular who's able to make a life playing poker.

Today was a weird day, 3.5k hands and I finished 2$ Down.

The morning session was good, I finished 1 BI up but ended up losing 2 BI at the afternoon session. After dinner I played 2 Zoom tables and it was sick as hell. Zoom sessions have too much variance and we need a good mental game to keep up. I don't think I can handle it for now, I need to disconnect the pressure and fear of losing so until then I'll stick to ten tabbling regular tables.

Tonight there isn't any live coaching so I think I'll rest my mind off poker a bit. My days have been just poker poker poker, I spend my nights thinking about poker and I dream with poker. I think I'll go grab some peanuts and watch a movie or something. No articles, no session reviews, no live coaching and no hand evaluation. No forums. Just not to go mental with this.

I've also scheduled my playing and studying time, so tomorrow I'll start by reviewing today's session and then I'll grind a bit. I'm thinking in opening one or two NL10 tables to gradually start my level up so next month I can be grinding 10 NL10 tables (so much tens).

I need a massage

This morning was time to test ten tabbling NL10 with 1.5k hands. I felt a huge difference between NL5. The number of REGs is way bigger and there are 3bets and 4bets everywhere! It was tense, ended up breaking even. I started playing ABC poker but immediately felt the need to expand my game so I spewed some money doing some moves but succeded at some too.

Morning session up. I made a plan to move up. Unless I fall down 4 BI or more this month I won't be back to NL5. When I feel confident enought and have the sufficient bankroll I'll move up.

Spent 500 FPP in that event's satellites. The first one I didn't make it, the second one was easier, less participants and got a ticket. I went directly to the event since it was already running.

Till the bubble my coinflips held, then I managed to do some steals and skipped my way throught the prizes. Then it was push and fold and ended up losing a flip 99 vs KQ. But still, not a bad price since I didn't invest a cent except for the FPP.

Today I played 2.3k hands. The morning surf session didn't allow me to grind, then before lunch I was able to review some hands and yesterday's session and after lunch it was time to grind. Just 50 minutes because my girlfriend was with me and I wasn't 100% focused and she was bored as hell also. 2 BI Down. Before dinner I managed to win 1 BI and after 3 more BI Up.

Haven't been updating my blog lately, mainly because of the downswing. I had to move down back to NL5 and I lost some motivation.

But I think the downswing was good, very good. I learned that poker isn't easy money and I shouldn't be dreaming about being rich by just playing poker. It's a hell of a job and I mustn't give so much importance to poker.

Now I've been playing somewhat relaxed and I don't think much about poker and money. I just play. I still want to play at least 1 hour a day and I want to move back up at the end of the month, but I'm trying not to think much about this game. Don't be fooled and think that I'm giving up. I still have objectives and I wish to fulfill them.

  • Review every daily session I play
  • Post often in Pokerstrategy
  • Keep my Silver PS Status
  • Play good and enough so I can move back up to NL10 at the end of the month
  • Study some articles
  • Improve my psychic game

2013, the year I began taking Poker seriously. The year I realized Poker was much more than a game. Everything's harder than it seems and being a Poker player is not as easy as we may think. It was a good year and I'm happy with my achievements.

I don't have the overall graph because I lost my database but I have some news. Yesterday I had the worst session ever, losing ~180$ Down, but my mind is better prepared for this kind of swings and I think I can handle them. The news:

  • I'm playing 18 tables of NL25
  • I achieved GoldStar for the first time ever
  • I reached the 1000$ mark

Despite my bad NL25 winrate(2.22bb/100 in 31k hands), I like playing at this stakes and I think it's improving my mental factor and my grind.

  • Try to grind a minimum of 1 hour per day
