BB: $4.31 (86.2 bb)
UTG: $1.57 (31.4 bb)
Hero (MP): $8.73 (174.6 bb)
CO: $1.50 (30 bb)
BTN: $5.72 (114.4 bb)
SB: $4.11 (82.2 bb)

Preflop: Hero is MP with J J
UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.15, 2 folds, SB calls $0.13, BB folds

Flop: ($0.35) 5 K 3 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($0.35) K (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.20, SB calls $0.20

River: ($0.75) A (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

Villain seems fishy over a small sample, 42/33 over 14 hands.

I think on the flop I should've taken the more aggressive approach and bet for value against his pocket pairs. On the other hand, he's going to fold a lot on this super dry flop, and might bluff on further streets. I suppose that's why I checked.

When he checks again on the turn it's an easy bet for value. On the river I'm not sure if I can bet for value again, but I think that maybe it's possible to make a thin value bet here, after showing weakness on the flop?

So two questions.
a) Is it better to bet the flop for value myself (I assume it is)?
b) As played, should I make a thin value bet on the river?

Hi.

Vs a fish, checking a high 2nd pair on the flop is going to be the better play by far. Bad players just tend tonmake more mistakes (he either pays u off too light later or bluffs too much).

As played i bet turn and blank rivers but A:c is the worst card in the deck for u so this should be a clear check.

Nice hand.

Hi!

I like the idea of checking the flop, because we can`t have more than 2 streets of value.

However, this is very dry flop. I assume, hero should bet e.g. on K78tt, to extract value from smaller pairs and draws.

A bet would be better there than on this board. Thats not to say that betting isbbetter than checking.

I still like checking more vs weaker players for reasons already mentioned previously - villain would just make more mistakes and misread your hand as a weak one if he is bad.
