About time we got some updates!!!
Same 3h 15 mins as yesterday. 2,8k hands. Almost certainly down today as well but didn't check results.
I also realized that I'm bothered by the fact that I lost two days in row. Which clearly is ridiculous, unprofessional and unproductive. But hey, that's me in nutshell anyway. If the chance of a winning day is 51%, once I wake up tomorrow the chance I'll have another losing day is 49%. Sure the chance that I'll have losing days until Monday is only ,49^3 but still every morning I wake up, the chance of finishing down is 49%. Apparently after being pro for over two years, I still have no idea about the simple mechanics of this game.
Got an exam tomorrow about project management and as usual don't know shit about it. Luckily it's just the first exam and I'm in Finland where I've got the possibility to retake the exam, unlike Vienna UT.
The schedule for tomorrow doesn't seem very good from poker perspective but I guess I'll just say goodbye to friends tomorrow and just put in the hours during evening.
So far played like ~2h. Then pokerstars, again, crashed without (seemingly) any reason. Again shipped log files to support, maybe this time they can actually help. Then made a missclick after firing hem 2 up and pressed the "update and install" which is always a ridiculously stupid amateur-noob-jackass mistake. Apparently this'll take "couple hours" and I'm already confident it won't work when ready. For a while I was already content with their product but again, I'm such a retard.
On the bright side, I folded aces and queens pre so far today. AA was even in spot where there was utg opener and mp nitty guy 3b him and i was 180deep vs mp. QQ was just std open spot. I should finally learn how to prioritize my actions from the most profitable one to the least, instead of the other way around...
On the actual bright side, when one is a supernova customer support on stars is lightning fast with answering to emails. On the less bright side, I'm a supernova and still it doesn't work properly. How much rake they need to fix these issues? ![]()
Maybe I'll still get to finish the 3 hours required but if i don't I'll have until 5pm tomorrow to play 3h+what i'm missing from today. Then it's party time ![]()
On the truly bright side, there's only one vid that suits this post.
I didn't think it was possible you playing more hands than me ... ever ♦ GL in not folding Aces pre next time

Yea, honestly, I didn't ever believe that I would play more hands than you

Starting to feel more confident about my game after ten days. The results aren't exactly on par with that but there's still time before this project ends. Starting from Wednesday I've been capable of playing during morning after waking up as well, due to not having morning lectures to attend. I still feel the same way I've felt for a very long time: I play my best during morning and after solid 8h of sleep. I guess it's just having brain fully rested and ready for the information overflow that comes from multitabling and trying to take every smallest detail into consideration. It's somewhat unfortunate that during most days I've got some appointments during mornings or early afternoons and hence can't play longer than couple hours before putting my mind into something else (that's not making me money...).
Yet, that's kind of the nature of the society, I've been told. People wake up early and get things done during day, so they can do whatever during evening. Which also affects the quality of the games and the player pool. I feel that games are quite a bit tougher during mornings but I doubt my edge changes that much given I think I play considerably better compared to evenings/nights.
I run well today and I think I made some money, even though didn't check it. The last time I checked I'm down 2,5k since the project started and over 24k hands. I ended up skipping one day, which was last Sunday - mostly because of Saturday night and the lack of sleep that made me even more dilatory than I'm normally. I definitely didn't play on a very high level ten days ago and some of the losses are certainly explained by that. Luckily I've got 20 more days to get this project up to the positive side.
Today I've played 4h so far, more to come since I just registered into the biggest tournament I've ever played - The Quarterly 1M Freeroll for Supernovas and SNEs. 999 will make it to the money and 100k for the winner. I'm expecting to take the 100k down. According to the official pokerstars VIP twitter account, they expect to get less than 4k entrants and hence the value per player would be >250$ - not bad ![]()

Now I'll prepare for the MTT-of-my-life by watching some cash game videos and then reading some J. Tendler's Mental Game of Poker.
Wish me luck!

Didn't. Out AK < QQ vs a nit. ~30bbs deep. I think I finished around the 4000th place. Not bad, for a MTT fish!
Been two weeks now, starting to feel pretty comfortable at the tables. For the last days, my feelings have been that I've played at least pretty well at least 85%+ of the time. Even though, at times i've definitely spewed off without proper reads on villains. Also sometimes I notice myself skipping checking some details that I normally would take a look at before making a decision but at least I've noticed the times I've done that and either taken a break or made sure to not do it again.
Regarding FTP opening: once hud starts working on Rush again, I'll move there at least to clear the bonuses but possibly permanently. I've understood that with the bonuses I should have ~65% rake back on FTP while only having the supernova ~30% on stars. Seem like an easy math decision.
And regarding math: I've done a bunch of poker math during these weeks as well and figuring situations out where I didn't know or wasn't sure of the best play. Honestly, it was too long of a break from doing those regularly and that's one of the reasons why my game was(/is?) rusty.
For now a bit over 40k hands with following results (still don't know how to make that into a reasonable size...)
Spoiler

Last 20k hands look a lot nicer with 10bb/100 EV-winrate.
I'm having way more trouble with mid- and short stacks than what I recall having before. Two options: 1) they improved 2) i suck more vs them than before. It just seems that every time i get it in vs a MSS/SSS I always have worse hand. I guess tightening up a bit vs. them would be the easiest solution.
Good news is that i've played more than the required 42h already and getting the 3h in isn't as tough anymore as it was in the beginning. Maybe this'll turn into a real habit by the time that i'm finished.
Wish me luck!
Seems like you have turned things around. Nice! Keep us updated.
Regarding turning it into a habit: It supposedly takes 2-4 weeks to change a habit or get a new. Seems like you have a decent shoot
GL!
Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure nobody would be blogging if there were no comments.
Yesterday I played 3h before going to uni. Rush for change, since overnight I realized what a retard I was... The hud would have worked during yesterday had I ticked the "save hand history" -box from the lobby
Well, at least it works.
For some reason I want to play looser on FTP
It's not like I think playing looser necessarily is higher ev but I just like the feeling of putting $$ into the pot more on FTP than on stars. I think it must have something to do with the interface and the table scenery. And I'm not even using the standard, avatar view but the race track one. On stars, I feel more picky about the spots I take, it doesn't feel as good to see my money go into the pot on stars as it does on FTP. And it's not about running well or something, or i don't think it is at least. Today I got coolered so hard couple times that I doubt it can be because of running better. Apparently on FTP getting top full house vs straight flush is pretty standard...
Must be rigged. Must be. Must. Be. Maybe.
Wrote all that on Thursday but forgot to click the post reply -button and hence it'll be there now.

So I'm not the only one ♦
I've noticed that the later I wake up, the less energetic I am. If I sleep more than 8h, I still don't want to get out of bed and I'm still not feeling like I'm fully rested - the grogginess just doesn't go away by sleeping. If I sleep 10-12 hours or generally just wake up late (which is after 10am) the grogginess seems to be there throughout the day. So what I'm trying to do from now on is to always go to bed at latest 2am to make sure I can get solid hours of sleep in before 10am. And even if I don't, I still set the alarm to go off at 10. This unpleasant, unproductive feeling I've had all day after waking up around 11.30 is pretty painful and makes me more impatient which in turn increases the chance of me tilting.
During last weeks, I've had plenty of discussions about moving abroad during January. The most likely direction is Philippines-Thailand -axis. I know that there still are some pokerstrategy members at PI and I'm sure there are some in Thailand as well. Would love to get a chance to talk to more of you and in case you see this - feel free to contact me via skype (Maene_).
I didn't enroll for the spring semester and hence I've got all options open after new year's eve. I've worked harder at uni than ever before and I've yet to feel as long lasting motivation for studying before. So maybe, just maybe, I'd be better off trying to push this once-in-a-lifetime motivational stretch even further. Or to travel and live somewhere I've never been before. I'm lucky to have these options available. Nothing has been decided yet but the most likely options are outside of Finland.
Ohh, yesterday I played ~6 hours, today 3,5. And i'm well ahead in schedule with the challenge. Not that I'm counting since I'm anyway pushing myself to put in at least 3h everyday and so far there has only been two days that I didn't hit that milestone. And both of those days have been compensated with extra hours within couple days.
But figured that it's worth mentioning that my first video was just released on pokerstrategy: Flying with Shevtshenko
Will also be opening a private coaching thread on the forums during this week.
