NL100 - KQo UTG x/raising J9Xr

Hi!

Villain:
Pretty much unknown, has multiple entries

Thoughts:
I think it's fine to have a checkingrange on these kind of boards and split it in check/fold check/call check/raise. Not exactly sure how to construct... I'm actually not sure at all what hands to x/raise and which to cbet. Which hands to barrel turn with etc etc.

Questions:
1) Is KQs with bdfd better to cbet or x/raise? And KQo? What hand would you put in what range?
2) Do we ever barrel this turn? If yes, which hands?
3) This is a good river to ship as played right? He could even fold QJ and sometimes AJ imo...

So maybe we can construct some ranges for this spot or at least help me out with the basics so that I can do it myself :)

I 'd like to add a question to the judges related to this hand. What factors play a role in deciding whether to cbet or check/raise as pfr? So what hands, vs which opponents (e.g. better with deep stacks?), on what boards etc.

I think it's important to look in flopzilla how our opponent hits the flop. I think Jhi connected flops are pretty good for the caller so that should makes us more inclined to have a check/raising range.

Farma kind of answered it. For flops that are great for the pfr's range the pfr should be cbetting most of tbe time. Similarly, for flops that are great for the pfc's range, the pfr should be giving up a lot. And the pfc should be stabbing a lot when checked to. This incentivises the pfr to slowplay some hands such that the pfc cannot just stab everytime and also why bet yourself when u know that the pfc will bet himself really often?

1. I think many times either line is fine. But i generally dont like to take super strong lines like checkraising with hands that i would have to fold to a reraise. Imagine if u had QT or T8 and u CR amd villain 3betted u. Its a little tough to continue right?

On the other hand with KQ ill gladly fold this if i have to. I also prefer checkraising nut gutshots cos if u hit on the turn u can just keep building the pot.

2. I only bet here with the strongest of my draws (8+ outs). If u bet here with KQ then u are gonna be barreling way too much

3. Now thats extremely optimistic to think that people fold AJ. He should hardly have any QJs combos here given starting positions. I prefer just checkfolding.

I suppose its much better that villain is an unknown cos with ur image no one is folding but still to think that AJ ever folds here is just ridiculous imo.

Thanks.

So for checkraising, the idea is that u wanna be able to hit something big so that u can continue woth your turn aggression. I like doing it with AcQc or KQ. Good for shutting down your opponent immediately on the flop and only continuing if u do hit something. It puts a lot more pressure too (if villain bets when checked to with a mid pair perhaps he may fold)

Betting imo, is better with your QTs T8s 78s cos u can pretty much double all turns and consider 3barreling.

Hi mbml :)

Your answer is rly helpfull thanks!

1 last question though :) -> What hand is best to put in our check/raisingbluffrange: KQs (bdfd) or KQo?

Pronably kqs? Dont think the diff is that huge tbh, u would still have to fold vs a raise.

Yeah but when I try to construct ranges I can't decide wheter to x/r KQcc(ss/dd) or the KQo combos. With KQ with bdfd we have a lot more barrel opportunities and we can shove on a lot of turns after x/r compared to KQo. On the other hand KQs is better to just cbet cause we won't have enough FE to cbet KQo probably.

What do you think? What hand should go in what range?

Probably kqs should be checkraised cos u just have more equity where u can spike the nuts on the river and river the bdfd. This is probably the simplest answer i can come up with.

The difference in equity is around 4% (15% vs 20% chance of makig the nuts.)
