Off to France for a week today, not without it's problems obviously. Our car broke down last night, not ideal considering we were meant to be driving to the airport tonight. This meant a total rearrangement of plans, including calling in favours to get us to the airport, rearranging parking and setting off 12 hours earlier than expected. Because of this, I was up until like 1am last night packing and up at 5am for work, fml.

The Canal Lateral Du Loire for a week before a weekend in Paris should cure the stress though. Might even post some massively oversized photographs when I get back as well :)

Back from France, with a few completely nonsensical sentences added to my extensive ( ) French dialect.

Iliane tigre libre a Paris! (spelling subject to mistakes)

Was a great trip, marred by a few inconveniences, a full trip report will come in the coming days as I have a fair amount of stuff to sort out. I need to sell my car, get a new car, buy a dog and steal customers from my girlfriend's psychotic mother. The dog is related to said psychotic mother (She's terrified of dogs, and my girlfriend is terrified of her, so it's a natural progression)

Hey! I've just read the last part of your blog (the HU Hyper part), congratulations for the results so far.

I've started playing HU Hyper last month and get a winrate of 52% (over 800 games), but my ROI is slightly negative as I play on a .fr website with 5% rake ;(

I was wondering, what is your winrate to achieve such a ROI? (I'm moving to UK in few days and would like to know if my 52% is enough to win money on a .com website)

PS : I'm french, I guess you probably wanted to say: "Il y a un tigre libre à Paris" (There is a free tiger in Paris) ;)

If you are playing anything above, and including, the $7 level games on pokerstars, 52% winrate will be profitable. If rake = 5%, breakeven point is 52.5% winrate. If rake = 2%, breakeven point is 51% winrate.

Thanks for the correction, one day i'll know countless useless sentences in French

Just checked, my winrate is 53% over 7k games with a 4.45% EV ROI, although PT4 doesn't show me a more accurate number than 53%

In other news, me and the gf bought a puppy on Wednesday, it's incredibly cute and fun, but also incredibly hard work. You have to keep an eye on him every second he's awake lest he be pissing, wanting to go out or generally causing havoc in the house. Started some clicker training this morning so hopefully I can get him to perfect some awesome tricks with time, for now i'd settle for urinating outdoors and not attacking every piece of loose cloth he sets his tiny little eyes upon. Pics will be provided in the near future.

The long awaited picture:

Things have been ultra hectic with the puppy, making grinding a real difficulty (Only managed 500 games this month). The training is going fairly well, at 3 months he knows to defecate outdoors, knows his name and will sit on command. Also, GTA V came out, so i've had to give that some attention.

In other news, come Monday I will start work at 5am  I've also been in a pretty tough spot, as a full time job that looks fairly interesting is coming up that i've applied for, unfortunately just at the time where i'm not far from being able to make some significant money at poker. However, if i get the job I won't be able to put the volume in and will probably have to part ways with the staking group, but since going pro at poker isn't really possible for a good 6 months due to my lack of savings I guess i'll just have to take that hit and get myself a full time job.

Like your decision, wp nh and good luck :f_biggrin:

Poker without savings is hard yeah... Luckily I'm just living alone and my monthly expenses aren't high.

Haha thanks, yeah it's a tough one, but the fact I would get to do something i'm vaguely interested in rather than grinding my ass in the early mornings at a supermarket pushed me in the direction of applying. Yes, I probably could go pro in 6 months or so, but the next 6 months getting up at 4am for work? No thanks.

Will obviously still play poker in my spare time though, I love it too much to not

So i've had a chat with my staker and he feels it's time for me to move up to play with the big boys! So from here on out (for a few weeks at least) i'll be battling it out with regs to fight for my right to have a lobby at the $60s.

Playing wise, last few weeks has been pretty shocking in terms of volume and results. Ran into some pretty bad card distribution variance, but fortunately my first 2.5k games put me in good stead to maintain a decent EV ROI for moving up. See below for my overall $30s graph :) As you can see a bit of a poor way to end it

Hope so

Can't play $60s yet as I have a table restriction on that I forgot about  Need to wait 24 hours before the change is approved.

Btw, does anyone know if there's any way to test your computers hardware to see if it's working properly? Dropped my laptop yesterday and since then it seems to be running super slowly. Any ideas?

Thanks :)

Not done great on $60s so far, only played 120 games, but due to me being new like 95% of them have been against regs (some better than others). Either way i'm on -4% EV ROI, which is very slightly under breakeven pre-rake. I feel I have been on the shitty end of the stick regarding card distribution a lot of the time, but the regs that have sat me I certainly don't want to be playing vs them all the time.

Just checked reports, and although it's a tiny tiny sample, all the regs I played >10 games are losing after rake apart from 1, I don't know whether this 1 was running sick, but he was incredibly hard to play against, suppose he could have just been crushing me

So far still getting insta-sat by a few regs. I think they think they have a better edge over me than they do, as i've been running shitty in card distribution so my stats will look pretty bad to them. However, I feel like i'm getting better every time I play them, and tbh it's getting me used to some swings on the higher limit.

There's this one reg who sits me who is pretty bad overall, but when you can't hit a flop he is impossible to play against (Barely folds vs cbets, cbets and barrels far too much, never folds to cbet raises or 3bets etc), he sat me again this morning and I picked up some cards and confirmed my suspicions about him being pretty bad I've spoken to another reg about him and he agrees.

So far played 300 games this week, yet to have a sniff at a Golden SnG, which is disappointing but expected

A few minor updates, although it will be a very short post as I'm finding it difficult to type.

:diamond: Off work today because I ate some bad chicken last night, the toilet has seen unprecedented amounts of action. When trying to ring in sick to work this morning the number kept redirecting to one of my managers home phones addresses, as such I woke him and his poor wife up at 4am for no reason, and also probably got into trouble with work (Come on, the last thing you want to do when ill is spend hours searching for phone numbers that actually work at 4am  )

:diamond: Our beautiful, fast growing puppy left me with a scar on Sunday as I got caught in the crossfire of him and his brother fighting, lots of blood and nearly an unconscious episode later and I have a bandage wrapped around my index finger, hence me finding it hard to type.

:diamond: Reached Platinum here :f_biggrin:

:diamond: Played about 550 games at $60s, running pretty bad and getting sat by regs means that my EV ROI is crushed so far. Slowly the regs are starting to stand off a bit though

:diamond: Platinum on Stars next month is the goal _thumbsup:

:diamond: Need to actually stick to a playing schedule over the next few months as i'd like to take my girlfriend away on holiday for her 21st in February, so need money ldo.

:diamond: Massive storm that hit the UK obviously over-exaggerated in our parts, it was just like a normal, windy day here!

That'll do, off to the toilet!

So, another new month dawns, graph below shows my first -$1k month ever, but i'm not disheartened. Since i'm now playing $60s this can pretty much be considered a breakeven month, it's only 17BI! Considering like 80% of my play at the $60s was vs regs in October i'm fairly happy with the results. It's been tough at times, when i've felt like i'm just getting run over and smashed by the same 2 regs, but i've studied their game with my coach and by myself pretty extensively and i'm confident that if they keep sitting me I will beat them! One of the guys that still sits me is the most retardedly over-aggro player i've ever seen, unfortunately i've run pretty terrible in card distribution against him, and when playing a guy who is aggressive on all 4 streets and never folds it's pretty impossible to win when you aren't hitting any hands. But that will turn around with volume _biggrin:

Spoiler

As you can see, volume sucked balls once again. This month it will change, I am going to stick to a schedule of playing and make sure to get Platinum on Stars, which is only just over 1k games on $60s, i'm hoping to play around 1.5k games total with some $30s mixed in when waiting lists are too long. Volume would've been better but since Monday me and the girlfriend have been recovering from food poisoning (Bad chicken!), all better now so it's time to get on the ball.

I've got a few goals for November:

:diamond: 1.5k games and Platinum Status on Stars

:diamond: Just got hold of Insanity Workout Program, so i'm starting that today and trying to stick to it!

:diamond: Grow a moustache for Movember, this may be cut short as my girlfriend really hates moustaches, so i'm seeing how long it takes her to realise

:diamond: Check results less often.

:diamond: Play longer sessions and stop taking so many breaks.

As i'm sure you all know, it was Halloween yesterday, so we went to a party at the local, we knocked together a few zombie outfits from old clothes and fake blood and made a pumpkin that was quite fitting in a pub competition, see pics below :f_biggrin:

As you can see, my brothers went for a slightly less subtle approach and just smothered themselves in fake blood:

Thought i'd throw in a family photo of us and the dog after he climbed on us when we were asleep :f_biggrin:
