Completely agree with what you said on people thinking you are just a gambler. People who don't play poker professionally just see it that way. I have a friend who is an engineer and its like me giving an opinion on what his job is without knowing anything about it, yet he feels its ok to say I have a gambling problem.

Its just the way it is, but i guess that is what's good about poker. As long as people still think it is all luck, then there is money to be made

Another thing that bugged me for a long time is how people that are close to me see my choice to play poker for a living. I'm always happy to explain what I do every day and how it all works. Most of them don't understand it/see me as a gambler that's trying to hit a jackpot and think I made a mistake by taking this path. And, i hope I'm wrong, but I think a portion of them "hopes" I would fail so they can say "Now you can finally get a real job like the rest of us cause that's the only way to go." cause they see me as some bump that clicks buttons and hopes for easy money.
I don't care about all of that anymore and I will not fail. I WILL succeed at this even if I have to grind in a cardboard box under a bridge. smile

This is so freaking true. Every people that I tell I play poker in order to one day become a pro, even my best friends, mock me and say that I will fail and that it's inevitable to get a 9-5 underpayed job, because you can't achieve anything great in life unless you are lucky.

I don't know your game and I don't know 6max turbos but I would think it should be possible to have WAY higher ROI and therefore some less variance. So maybe improve game or play fewer tables.

I am (AM) aware of how variance works.
Of course it is possible to have higher ROI, would be pretty lame if 1% is the best one can get.
I do work on my game and will definitely have a higher ROI in the future. If I didn't believe that, I would quit right now.

I can comfortly 6-table my game at your level with 8% ROI.

Sorry, not sure I get what you mean. You can get 8% ROI on 15$ 6max? Or you have 8% at the format you play? Or something else?

Exactly.
At first it bothered me when someone would call me a gambler or said something in the domain of "you have a problem" but now i just laugh at it. If you want to talk about it, ok. If not, well, think what you want. :)

That's another way of approaching the subject. And I like it.

I guess most players go through that. At first I thought it's all about the age, thought that older people just can't grasp the idea of "staying at home playing some game AND making money" but unfortunately that's not true. Even people my age don't want to understand all the hard work that lies behind "clicking buttons". Would probably be nicer for them to hear how I bitch about my brutally underpaid shitty job and hate my life. :)

8% in $15 18man or hypers which I play now. Remember though: 6-tabling!

And only talking about ROI and not hourly, which ofc can get higher with more tables and lower ROI.

Really liking your attitude at the moment. Keep strong and things will come together with continued work and patience.

Had so many setups today, pretty prettyyy pretyyyyyy pretty sick. :)
Made one missclick or w/e to call it where I thought a guy was all in, shoved over his "2bb shove" and realized he just min raised UTG. Nice. Bothered me more than all the suckouts, setups and "normal" mistakes I made.

I'm satisfied with how I played and am playing lately. Last three weeks or so, since coach found some leaks and opened my eyes in regards to some things, my EV is 4-5%. I'm sure I can get more than that in the future, over a large sample.
Not being bothered with how things are going from day to day, focusing on the "big picture". Everything will set in it's place, no doubt in my mind.

Just hoping that it'll cut me some slack with all those setups, especially BvB. Most of the time I'm the one whose shoves are being called, everyone is just rubbing their hands and waiting for the dumbass to shove into them. Been like that for quite a long time now, keeping focus and playing best I can is way more exhausting that way. As soon as I notice I'm making mistakes out of pure frustration I stop loading tables. Even if it means I played 10 games in that session. Stop, take at least half hour-break and then start a new session.

Played 4 sessions today. Everything was ok until the last one in which I spewed more than in last two months all together. Don't know why was that, seems I don't recognize when my focus isn't good because before the session I felt completely fine and ready to play. Positive side is that spews didn't tilt me but I was kinda just waiting for games to finish so I can close everything and forget about all the moronic plays I did, mostly against regs.

Gonna go to bed and not think about my bad play, guess these sessions just happen. As long as I don't make a habit of being an idiot at the tables, all is fine.

Don't worry about it, from what I could see your game is pretty solid and I noticed you also made some changes in your game recently so that's good.

Also don't worry about making mistakes, they happen and they are usually a result of not having internalized the knowledge well enough yet, so just go back to the drawing table and work on that parts that slip when you are not playing your A-game.

Good luck at the tables!

If you haven't already, listen/read mental game of poker. It helped me a lot , did that tilt report card, identified things that tilted me injected logic and solution for each. I am already noticing huge improvement on tables, tilting way less then before (in past 4-5 days since I listened to whole thing and did assignment).
Also like Demonic said, your game is changing evolving, it will take time for it to be solid and concrete so that you can mass multitable and get out of that DS you are in now.
Good luck!

My game is changing as I believe I'm improving constantly(or at least I hope I am :)) which is great but it also means there's constant inflow of new things/ideas + I tend not to play on autopilot which is something I was doing in the past. Sometimes my thinking gets me in trouble but still, think it gets me out of them more often. :) The point is that a lot of changes in the game/thinking process and incorporating them into the game requires time so you're both right, I guess. Could've said that in less words :)

Just had a terrible session.

Decided to stop it before it got to me. Gonna take a short break and play another one.

Oh, and what's with all the aggressive guys showing up almost every day? Where are they all coming from? Had some tables just now with like all unknown players just to see that not one of them was a fish. And I have pretty much everyone marked. Weird. And bad.
Couple of weeks ago I had a guy that plays/has played up to 200s. Marked him as a fish before I found out he's playing that high. He was playing like a huge fish tho. :f_confused:

Got berated by a reg for this hand today. Guy is a huge winner but I've seen him going crazy against midstacks even when they're fish that don't care about the bubble both pre and post flop so I think against me he's gonna be shoving very close if not all the way to ATC. But that's just my guess.
Any opinions? Would you take this? Or rather just open shove?

He needs to be shipping over 50% to make this close to a call, so I would want some solid reads that he is actually reshipping light for over 20BB, before I start inducing w JJ here (I was actually surprised how wide he needs to reshove for this to be profitable).

That makes two of us. :)
It's around 60% where JJ starts being profitable. I know it's a lot and too bad he had TJs so we don't find out anything. It was on a regular speed table so I don't play him often but maybe I find out sometime in the future. :)

Morning,

I am obviously missing something, are we suggesting we fold JJ in this spot? If so I guess we are talking about ICM?

Regards

Steve

No the question is whether to openship or induce, folding is out of the question.

Always disappointing when a weekend goes like this. Soft tables, no money. :f_mad:
Haven't played a lot mainly because yesterday I didn't feel like I can play my best game + ran horrific.

This hand illustrates how it's been lately. Everyone hitting pretty much anything they need. This was against a fish reg that I play pretty much every day. Decided to bait him in. I baited him all right. :)

Can we just fold the flop? I don't know.

Regarding the AA hand, if he is really a fish reg, cbet bigger and don't be cute with underbetting. You will get so much value from any draw, Kx, or whatever he has so let him pay for that.

Regarding the KQ hand, I'm never folding the flop (you have a bdfd as well), should probably fold the turn but I can see it's hard ingame, def fold the river obv.

You think it makes much difference when we're this short? Also, you never know what idea he might get on the flop, maybe that he can still make me fold or w/e. Not a big thing I guess.

Yeah, river fold is obv. Also the call on the flop I guess. Hard to say if he has anything else besides sets there. Would've been nice if he showed up with a FD. :)
