My SH game took a big down over the weekend with a lot of bad suck-outs. It just got worse after starting with a few hundred hands of SSS then switching to SH when this happened:

$0.05/$0.1 No Limit Holdem
6 players

Stacks:
UTG Hero ($21.85)
SB Mr666theDevil ($10.50)

Pre-flop: ($0.15, 6 players) Hero is UTG A♥ A♦
Hero raises to $0.40, 3 folds, Mr666theDevil calls $0.35, 1 fold

Flop: 8♠ 5♠ 6♦ ($0.90, 2 players)
Mr666theDevil checks, Hero bets $0.60, Mr666theDevil raises to $1.20, Hero goes all-in $21.45, Mr666theDevil calls $8.90

I massively overbet but he only has 9$ left and my reraise would be almost half his stack. I don't like the flush possibilities and haven't had much luck with AA lately. Hopefully just take down the pot from the aggro player now

Turn: 7♦ River: 2♥

Final Pot: $21.10
Mr666theDevil shows: K♦ 9♠
Hero shows: A♥ A♦

Mr666theDevil wins $19.10 ( won +$8.60 )
Hero wins $11.35 ( lost -$10.50 )

Ok - it's the weekend, I guess my overbet might have looked like a big bluff.. actually I didn't really mind the call, usually I'd win that one.

Next:

$0.125/$0.25 No Limit Holdem
6 players

Stacks:
UTG+1 Hero ($4.65)
BTN tangopop ($27.95)

Pre-flop: ($0.25, 6 players) Hero is UTG+1 A♠ A♦
Nigel says "nb", 1 fold, Hero raises to $1, 2 folds, tangopop raises to $5, 1 fold, Hero calls $3.65

Flop: 3♠ 7♣ 6♣ ($9.90, 2 players)

Turn: 8♠ ($9.90, 2 players)
Nigel says "lol"

River: 3♣ ($9.90, 2 players)

Final Pot: $9.55
tangopop shows: A♥ A♣
Hero shows: A♠ A♦

tangopop wins $4.90 ( lost -$0.10 )
Hero wins $4.55 ( lost -$0.10 )

So we talk a bit about how we're glad it's not a bad beat, and someone says I haven't played enough poker if I haven't been beaten AA to AA...well now I have. A few hands later.

$0.1/$0.25 No Limit Holdem
9 players

Stacks:
UTG Hero ($4.65)
MP2 bbasher ($9.60)
SB donk_on_dope ($11.10)

Pre-flop: ($0.35, 9 players) Hero is UTG A♦ A♠
Hero raises to $1, 2 folds, bbasher calls $1, 3 folds, donk_on_dope raises to $4.65, 1 fold, Hero calls $3.65, bbasher calls $3.65

Flop: Q♣ J♣ 8♣ ($14.20, 3 players)
donk_on_dope goes all-in $6.45, 1 fold

Turn: 7♣ River: T♦

Final Pot: $14.20
Hero shows: A♦ A♠
donk_on_dope shows: A♣ A♥

donk_on_dope wins $19.95 ( won +$8.85 )
Hero lost -$4.65
bbasher lost -$4.65

I must admit I took it pretty well.. I only managed to donk off another 30-40$, or most of my stack for that limit.

Hero wins $9.05 ( lost -$0.95 )
oh dude so imba wins $10.65 ( lost -$1 )

We both lose 1$ to the large rake at this limit. I'm demoralized but I'll still keep trying. I've got a few buyins with SNG's left but not enough to get back. I'm down to about 25$ - even with winning some SNG's it was a tough road down. Those FPP's look kinda good about now.

Wow now that's bad luck, run your aces into aces... You should 4bet with your aces preflop though.

You only have $25 left?

Yes only about 25$ - but I think I can come back... I signed up for Titan using the pokerstrategy.com code but I'm not sure if I can get another 50$ bankroll. Luckily I have a larger 'implied' bankroll - but I'm not nearly experienced enough to put that into action yet? My SSS stats were going so well, I was up to 150$ at one point, and doing well with SNG's. There's such a fine line in micro limits between going broke and moving up a level - even with SSS variance it's possible to go down to 25$ easily, and then what do you do?

For me, it's SNG's now, maybe a couple of heads up tourneys for 2-3$ it's difficult knowing I'm good enough and playing such low limits - but being so close to broke.

Play SSS on NL10, deposit some money, or use TAF. Those are your only chances. SnGs/MTTs have a very high variance so I wouldnt do it.

I'm now playing Sng's, and it's got less variance for me than NL SH by a mile. With the push/fold nature of the endgame, I'm starting to get some revenge on those aces!

maybe with 25$ bankroll or so , u shouldn't play 6$buy-in SNG. That way there is a high chance that u end up broke in less than 2weeks.
still i wish u luck. My advice; play NL10 with only one table while you read all the "strategy" articles from the very start. If you stick to them, in 2weeks u'll start getting a healthy bankroll.
Think about patience more than payout!!!

you didnt do much wrong there to go broke like that. but sometimes you gotta know when to fold thouse pocket rockets, shooving on openended, flush draw boards are not always the best choice to do, but you're right you run into terribly bad luck overall.

Same thing happened to me 2 days ago..was winning 130$ and in one afternoon it was almost all gone, different thing was I wasn't losing to aces but to people calling 2$ raise and reraise with k2,56 and stuff like that.
Had about 20x rockets in hand, not a single win :(
It just happens, cant explain it, now I'm back to 0,05/0,10 again lol
Cant help it if someone reraises my aces with k6 and wins the pot
Need some anger management after that lol

Maybe it will sound funny to you. But when some total fish lama newbie maniac calls me with something like this I imediately open his notes and write whole hand with comments of my actual thoughs and mark him for later as easy target and looking forward to use it against him.

This calm attitude It helps me much more then hitting desk or screaming on my LCD. Think about poker as longterm bussines

i like to use the 'buddy' button for these people. They might take your stack with pure luck once, but when you can find them on the tables next time the odds are in your favour
