Although i hit a K on the flop and a set on the turn i was dubious about betting into the pot as i only had a very weak kicker. Was this the right play?

Well played untill turn i would bet atleast pot on turn and go broke to a re-raise seeing as there is a flushdraw in a relatively small pot.

With a freeplay, when you hit TP you need K+ as a kicker to play it as a made hand. Here checking on the flop was the right decision. Pushing on the turn is also a good decision imo, since there still is a FD. So well played.

Hi TheBu11d0g,

you played the hand ok until the turn. Than you could've both lead into them or go for a check/raise, but the last thing to do here is to fold. Let me explain this from the beginning:

Preflop - standard, since you have rather weak holding it's normal to check.

Flop - you did hit your king, although there's also an ace on the board. This way you have only second pair which is no good while sssing. For now, you're check/folding this hand.

Turn - your hand suddenly improved to trips which are really great. Here you can fear only another king (there's only one left in the deck so it's unlikely someone is having it) and you beat any ace that slowplayed flop. Also, if your oponent do have a king with better kicker (higher than 7) you can still get a split pot when a card higher than his kicker hits river.

This is definitely a spot in which you cannot doubt in strength of your hand. Bet it directly or go for a check/raise if you think that's the way to gain more value (i.e. you're facing aggressive oponents).

Big thanks to everyone who replied especially the judge as the explanation totally makes sense to me now but at the time i was too concerned about the low kicker hence the fold but now i know that if it happens again i now how thats its ok to bet into the pot.

regards,

steve
