Yeah. just finished a rather ordinary session. Big hands totally unhelpful. Managed to scratch out one 4th place. But the story of the day was AA.

I've been having problems with KK the last couple of weeks. Now they are fixed my AAs are broken. Somebody fix them please.

How you finding the $1 45man MTT so far?

Hey Speci,

It's a bit hard to say at the moment. I've certainly felt rusty although I got into a nice rhythm in the last game of last night's set.

Have only played 13 for 3 ITM (no top 3), an 8th and a couple of 10ths. So running at a small loss of just under 3 BIs.

I felt I only played average yesterday and had the short end of the stick as far as variance goes.

I believe my consistency will improve once I get back into a routine of playing regular 4 hour 4 table sessions. I struggled to get to the 4 hour mark last night and in fact most of the last hour I was playing my last game.

Also thinking seriously of moving to the turbos to get more game volume.

Had a short afternoon session (3 hours and 5 games) for a 1st and a 3rd and 14.5BIs profit.

Much happier with the way I played. Made some adjustments from my Early game phase and had the necessary rungood when it counted.

Motivation and volume are still major problems although I used to play really long sessions when I was having a drink so this weekend look out for some very ragged posts and probably some ragged play.

So I'm now up to a whole 18 games with 5 ITMs and 60% ROI.

I am such a volume monster.

Hey 45manners,

Only another short session last night. 6 games, 3 cashes, +8 Bis. Could have played longer but I ended up on 3 FTs at once and decided to concentrate on best possible result.

At one stage I was 1/3, 1/4 and 2/6 and was next person eliminated in all games ?(. AQ>A8, AT>88 on flop of ATx and then runner runner hearts to give villain a 4 card flush etc.

On a good note, My AAs rocked. Got them twice on separate tables in the first 10 minutes and tripled up on both. Sadly I managed to burn off a pretty impressive stack and not get ITM in one of them.

This was the hand that destroyed my stack.

Hey Constant Readers,

Since returning from the supermarket yesterday I have played another 2 sessions totalling 7 and a half hours and 11 games. Cashed in 5 for +16 BIs.

When I resumed playing 45 man SnGs, I was basing my targets on my previous performance of 20% ITM and 30% ROI. At the moment I am far exceeding this.

Three possible reasons.

1). I am running on the positive side of variance and my numbers will drop back closer to my older levels.
2) I am more knowledgeable about NLHE than I was before.
3) My 3 Stage strategy actually works.

Answers.

1) Possibility. I feel like I am running +Ev, but not significantly so. I have been very disciplined with my choice of hands in relation to matters like my stack, my position, table dynamics etc.
2) Definitely. I am much more positionally aware as well as being much tighter in EarlyGame.
3) It's hard to say. Sample size is very small. Playing in this manner does reduce a lot of Early and MidStage risk than playing as a true TAG and generally allows me to hit the last 2 tables having playing options rather than just push/fold.

I may as well post the graph, just because it looks nice.

Lol. I guess he thought if he threw his chips in 1st everyone would fold unless they connected. Unfortunately for him, everyone connected.

I need to make a decision in regards to volume. The non turbos play out very slowly. I have played 4.7k hands over 46 games (average more than a 100 a game) and have played for 24 hours in a mixture of 1-4 tabling.

Thought I would post a short update and some hands. Since the last update I have played another 11 games for 4 ITMs and +14 BIs. I won't bore people with the graph but it does look more awesome than the last one.

Now some hands. Disappointed about this one as I made a solid read but he got lucky and spiked the river. He did apologise although I'm not sure what for.

Hey Constant Readers,

Since I last posted, I have had another couple of (small) sessions. A set of 4 $1 45manners for a 2nd and a 4th (+8BIs) and I have just finished a rather interesting session.

It was terrible. My Ev was -60BBs over 340 hands and I ran slightly below that. My 1st 4 games was in the regular $1 games and lost all without ever getting going.

So I decided to load up a couple of $1.50 turbos for the 1st time. I ended up cashing in both (2nd and 7th) for $15.29 and over $8 profit for the session.

I have just reviewed my session and have no idea how I managed to end up in profit. (Maybe Tino's right. :O. I AM a fish on a heater)

The 2nd place was a sick run. After being crippled to half a BB with 6 remaining, I managed to keep winning hands when necessary, as well as the bigstacks taking each other on to finish 2nd.

Now for some hands.

I really need to update. It's been about 3 days.

Wednesday after 3 months of not having a drink, I partook in a bottle of bourbon. I've always been able to play super long sessions if I'm having a drink. I have been frustrated at only being able to play small sessions/

Some interesting points.

Played first 2 games sober.

Up till game 8 ran like a boss. At this stage I was nicely drunk. From game 9 onward I think I was too drunk. Although for the last half of the session I ran significantly below Ev.

I can't remember too much so I'll guess Ill have to do a session review to actually find out if I was making bad plays or I was getting sucked out on.

Haven't played since because I have been quite ill. As Danny Glover used to say in the 'Lethal Weapon' movies, "I'm getting too old for this shit"
