Probably 2nd hand should be check behind and fold river. But it's crazy i just can't hit my outs, like 1st hand. And people are hitting theirs for fun

then 2nd nut f vs nut f. all within 50 hands

This is so fucking pathetic i never expected to drop so much..

Back to plo5.

Play bad? Run bad? I don't know. So sickening

1st hand you played it very well, second hand you played it pretty bad imo. with 2 callers and 2 clubs on the flop don't you think at least one of them was on the flush draw even though you still had$6,50 behind which you threw away with like 8% equity or something...

Yup already wrote that 2nd hand should be check behind and fold river. Rare mistake probably out of tilt. Instantly realised after the session that I should never bet there

I'm almost practically done with this challenge. Within 100 hands at plo5 another 2 BI under EV.

So sick the swings.

Summary of the month: People playing bad/weird and getting rewarded.

Kinda sick shit really. stations calling down with a set on FD board when i have nut fd, i hit FD on river they hit FH. Happened a ton.

It's hard to make those laydowns when I run bad though, could really work on that.

Other than that I'm not giving up, just hoping december will be better and stars stop rewarding those donks

I was thinking about my game today. I could think of some rather big leaks I have which wasn't obvious to me in the past:

1. Trying to be balanced. I'm trying to keep my bet sizes similar, whether i'm cbetting as a bluff or for value. I do bet bigger on wetter boards and smaller on dry boards but I shouldn't be trying to be balanced at the micros. People won't play you enough and they won't ever adjust. I should just keep my bluff bets small and value bets huge.

2. Guessing too much. I've been making tons of wrong guesses recently, which cost me alot. I shouldn't even have to guess in the first place. If unsure, just fold. Don't ever call out of curiosity or for information.

There are probably more leaks than these, which require some analysis to find out. But for now hopefully just trying to fix these 2 will turn things around for me

well this is non plo related.

so i have been playing other forms of poker, been doing decently well in badugi.

Last few days have been rough (much of the month has been, but last few days I've seen some near mathematically impossible stuff happen to me)

Sometimes I wonder, maybe I ran too good last month thus the bad luck was coming. I have nothing to complain about, last month and even sept I had like the best months ever how can a slight downswing in october for a few days hurt?

Yeah, now I think about it, I would never trade my last 2 months for slightly better run good this month. It's just part of life that some months will be bad. And it's fair to say that some of my tournament wins last month are near mathematically impossible too

I just realised what has been lacking biggest this month compared to when I started this challenge: solid play

I played rather tight when I started this challenge, not bloating pots unnecessarily. Fact was I was playing only a little tighter than the average player, but 3betting alot less than most players. I was hence mainly losing only small pots, and didn't spew much. Just played solid

This month I tried mixing up a little, 3betting more playing looser (since it's universally agreed that 3bet % should be much higher than what I have). This doesn't mean 3betting in plo is bad, but this meant that I put myself in many more tougher and marginal spots, and ended up spewing quite alot IMO. There isn't enough solid play on my part, I tried mixing it up too much and being too fancy and hopeful at times. My focus should have been to improve my postflop play, before I think of 3betting wider or playing looser.

And I'm convinced that solid play alone will help me complete this challenge. So that's my aim for December: play solid and make as little mistakes as possible. Keep things simple and not be overconfident.

Hey tommy or whoever you are,

These last couple of posts just don't sound like the tommygecko I know. If you are the real tommy then I like it. If you are not the real tommy then go away.

Seriously I love the tone in your last posts. You seem to be much more accepting of variance and the self analysis of the changes in your game since you started the challenge is very nice indeed. On top of that you have a plan to implement to ensure your best chance of completing your challenge.

All hail tommygecko V2.0

So... luck really does exist.

Been running bad myself, so I thought it would be a good idea to stake some proven winners and get some $$ back.

Of course all of them run under EV and I'm on my way to more losses :f_mad:

I'm just going to grind until I find my rungood back

Exams are over, so time to grind this challenge out...

I think I'm playing well for the most part. But I'm perpetually stuck because the cards just do not want to cooperate

As I said, just going to grind it out. I'm almost close to 40 days of run bad, but surely it will end?

Should I just be done with this challenge? Doesn't do me any good at all. There are other ways to study plo and I can definitely play higher consistently with my roll

Recovered from a bad start (not too bad actually, but lost 3 BIs at plo10 zoom, not part of challenge) today. Hopefully the momentum continues on from here.

Today's session:
1098 hands
+$36.23
BR: $147.40
18633 hands

Right now I'm 8 tabling plo10, so I'm expecting to put in a ton of volume soon, and hopefully finish this challenge asap, before school starts next month.

First session of today, did super well vs weekend fishes for once today. Was up 5BIs but lost a big hand and some small pots to end up only up $29.60. Being aggressive made me lose a few BIs today. Seems like playing tight and only value betting nuts is the way to go on weekends.

Current BR: $177.00

I can almost shoot plo25 again, hopefully I put in a winning session later today.

Hand of the day (saved all my luck for this lol):

Poker Stars, $0.05/$0.10 Pot Limit Omaha Cash, 6 Players

Flop: ($1.75) 4 A J (5 players)
Hero bets $1.20, BB folds, UTG raises to $5.28, MP folds, BTN raises to $7.13, Hero raises to $23.35 and is all-in, UTG calls $4.12 and is all-in

Turn: ($27.68) K (3 players, 2 are all-in)
River: ($27.68) T (3 players, 2 are all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

$27.68 pot ($1.18 rake)
Final Board: 4 A J K T
BTN showed 9 4 4 T and lost (-$7.48 net)

Who would have thought that set of A will win on this board 3 way? For once I didn't want the board to pair!

this hand counterfeited the luck in my above hand :( He got lucky vs me in 2 other 3bet pots too (split both because we ran it twice), otherwise this could be a monster session.

Still, only -$10 this session. Could have been alot worse. Still +ve for the day. Happy with my volume so far

Going to throw in another session tonight. 77more vpps to complete my mission

Just so weird, people like to float randomly to hit their 2 outers. lol. his line looks so much more like 76 or J7 or Q7 but of course i lose 140bbs to a random 2 outer.

It's still a big day nonetheless, not sure how I did it with these coolers, but I end the day +$34.12. It's a really big weekend for me, first massively profitable one in a long time. And 2918 hands today which is probably the most I played in a day for a long while.
