Learning target: take up time
The last 2 days was confusing. One day was very good and the other day not. The reason was that I lost so many $. But that is ok. Good chance to improve and to learn.

Other matters
I got the 3rd Part of the Jack Reacher book series and can recommend it. Very entertaining and thrilling. I also ordered book 5 of "A Game of Thrones". In chess I learn the chess moves by heart.

hand of the day
Simply enjoy it ;)

Hey,

I just came across your blog! Good luck with your goals, hope you make it.

Really curious about your results. I mean 22BB/100 on NL50 over 100k+ sample size is a ridiculously high winrate, same with pretty much all your graphs. Even 30BB on NL200 over 5k hands is quite incredible.

Do you realize you are on a godly heater? Or you think/know that this winrate is sustainable?

Cheers.

I think with the strategy I use you can keep your winrate on 20BB.

Goals of the week
This week I will concentate on making plans. The street where you should make a plan is the flop. When some cards change something we have to adapt our plan.

Other matters
1 week without poker was ok. I played a lot of chess, read some books and relaxed with my family. I like reading thriller so I ordered 10 books of Lee Child - Jack Reacher. I like this books series and can recommend it to everyone.

Learning target: plan the hand
Yesterdays I was a little bit unmoativated. So I was not good in planning the hand. Played to fast without thinking deeply.

other matters
I learned a new opening. The petrov (russian) defense. Its an interesting alternative. Im also an chess adicted person so I started to read silmans books again and will post some interesting chess positions in the future. Sometimes you will find an interesting poker hand and on the other day an interesting chess position. Lets start with chess

chess position of the day
How would you evaluate the postions of black and white. What would be the plan for white and black?

Learning target: take up time
I changed my goal of the week. Plan the hand is very important. To do this you should take up enaugh time. I was not so good in doing this. I should take up enaugh time (at least 3 seconds when I want to play the hand postflop) before I make any action. Sure is sure and it saves a lot of money. To make this process automatic I use the 21 day rule. So this will be my goal for the next 21 days.

other matters
I learned a new opening. The benko (wolga) gambit. Its and an gambit that will be used when you play benoni.

hand of the day (villain is unknown)
Would you call the shove?

IPoker, $1/$2 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 2 Players
Poker Tools by CardRunners - Hand Details

BB: $96 (48 bb)
Hero (SB): $201.20 (100.6 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J J
Hero raises to $6, BB calls $4

Flop: ($12) 7 T 6 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $10, BB calls $10

Turn: ($32) 3 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $26, BB raises to $80 and is all-in, Hero ?

Spoiler

first glance, uh, white should play for d5 and black for the c-file? *shrug*

i think that white is at least somewhat better. if white could kick out the Nb6 and play Bg5/Nd5 that would be killer, so i'd like to start with a4.
a5 would leave a bunch of holes in the queenside (like a4 a5 Qb5 is already annoying), so maybe black should play h6 and allow a5 Nbd7 Be3? just feels to me like white is at least somewhat better in any case.

anyway black might reroute with Nbd7 Nc5 or something, Nc4 might also be interesting but it seems pretty exposed and not actually doing much. yeah, definitely taking white.

The main difference are the knight and the bishop. White should block good places for black. So b3 and a4-a5 are good. What is the best position for the white bishop. That should be e3. And the white queen should jump to b5. Both side like the open rows. So they should take their rook to control this.

No.

Its an call. Villain just has 50 BB and could shove worse.

Challenge: NL400 overcall graph

Summary
The Samplesize is very low but I like the start on NL400. In the next week you will the the overall graph over all limits.

goals of the week
My main goal for this week is take up time. I changed some things in my system. So will fold instantly instead of waiting for 3 seconds. I will do the same preflop when i openraise. When I decide to play a hand postflop i will take up at least 3 seconds. Autoplay is just a good when villains are very bad. Vs good players autopilot is bad.

other matters
This week I will concentrate on the alapin variation. I will also concentrate on tactical things.

learning target: take up time
The last 2 days were fine. I took up enaugh time for planing the hand and paying attention to betsizes.

other matters
This week I try to learn the alapin vaiation. This is a very good answer the the siclian opening. And you dont have to learn all the sicilian theorie.

hand of the day (villain is unknown)
villain is an aggressive reg. How would you play the turn (and why)?

Winamax, $2/$4 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 2 Players

Hero (SB): $402.96 (100.7 bb)
BB: $436.45 (109.1 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 6 5
Hero raises to $8, BB raises to $28, Hero calls $20

Flop: ($56) 2 5 7 (2 players)
BB bets $34, Hero calls $34

Turn: ($124) 8 (2 players)
BB bets $74, Hero?

Just call since we could already be good... maybe he was previously air barreling turns which could make me more inclined to shove turn then

I think calling is a bad option because it puts us against the wall OTR and the only cards we are happy to see are 4s and maybe 5s.

folding is better than calling IMO as it avoid this ugly river situation

I would consider a raise here giving that in most case we still have a few live out. and he probably has a lot of bluffs as well on this board that we would get to fold but that are probably over cards

effective stack is $402

Villain bets $74 and you have $340 behind. It makes it an awkward raise what ever amount you choose as even a min raise leaves us with less than half pot stack which is not ideal as we basically want to take the pot now. Shoving will achieve the most fold equity but we would also take ourselves to value town too many times.

Considering all this I would probably raise $176 and fold to a 3bet and fold to a bet OTR or shove any 4, 5 or blanks following a check.

Do you think when we would raise the turn worse hands could call?

Calling is better than folding. We have the odds to call. But raising seems to be better. There is a lot of money in the pot and Hero (1) can make better hand (2ndP) fold and (2) worse hand could call (Draws)

Challenge: overcall graph

Summary:
I never thought that I would be able to reach my goal in such a short time. I just can thank you very much to gordon. He was always patient to answer my questions. And I asked a lot. So what is next. I think I will try to get the skill and bankroll to play NL1000. Here we go.

goals of the week
I wont change my goal "take up time" and try to more focus on additional goals (1) plan the hand and (2) pay attention to betsizes. In chess I will concentrate on the najdorf defense.

I will do it sir :P

learning target: take up time
I was great in taking up time. Played also fine when I got unlucky. In the future I have to pay more attention to the stats + the hands which I get shown at the showdown. I should have enaugh time for doing that. Here we go.

other matters
I will enlarge my chess opening knowledge by the french opening. I know this opening and want to learn some new moves. This should be my last opening. After that I will focus on tactical things and some positional things.

chess position of the day
White has to move. What is your plan for white/ black? Who has the better position (and why)?
