:DHi Hans,
first of all , very impressing !!!!

Great Blog !!! (Gives me some hope )

Are u still sticking to your basic "simple straightforward play" ???
Even @NL50+ ?? How do you not get into some weird leveling-wars ???
While i imagine this straightforward poker will work on the micros,
is it enough to keep up at your current stakes?

Looking foward to see u play @Rail heaven in a couple of months _thumbsup:

@olram6
It's NL50 :P. But yeah, I played higher(NL100 for a short while) but doesn't matter much because I have some rules that I have to follow. It's just that I understand better board texture and get read someone's range based on position. And I record the videos with Camtasia Studio.

@DoubleBogey
Yeah, I quite do it's just that I add some things like lighter SQ for value, pound on people more when they have a F23B but that's about it pretty much. I still follow most of the rules. I only use ''leveling wars'' when I have the nuts but for everything else there is a default line. For example on iPoker you wouldn't be a big winner on NL50 but rather a smaller one 1-2bb/100 because the fish/reg ratio is very bad. But on Rush and Zoom definitely(3-4bb/100 with some smaller adjustments).

So guys,

I hit on both days stop loss. Yesterday my emotions(frustration) played an interesting role and I made some very bad calldowns(5 I think). The gap between my actual results and EV is still raising and it's now over 60 BI and I find it really hard to turn a profit currently(that's why I admire even more guys like BsB who are able to anyway come up with a profit despite finding themselfs in such a shitty situation).

Guess the year didn't start for me that well and it's seems like I'm currently on rough path. But yeah, it has to hurt in order for me to grow and become better/stronger. If things would be running smooth it wouldn't be a challenge but rather a walk through.

Also it currently looks like I won't be able to finish this challenge this month unless an upswing is going to come and turn things around. Anyway, enough talking it's time for some pics:

Guess it's time to work even harder. So now let's get back to work! GL!

Hi guys,

So were to start ?(. Basically Monday was awesome. Had a very nice day in terms of winnings but the next 2 days killed them completely. Given the BR that got shallower and my desperate need for some positive results I moved down to NL20 and got crushed there.
Currently it looks like I can't win anywhere but I have a positive attitude that until the end of the month I will turn things around. Cashier took a bit hit but he will get pimped up in the begging of the next month.

There are a lot of positive things when you go through a time phase like it's currently in my case for me:
1) I got even more motivated to improve
2) You grow emotionally/you become stronger

Since my edge is small of course the swings are bigger but even if I run 66BI below EV after 170k hands that should never be an excuse for not making it/turning a profit. So what I should tell myself is ''work harder to gain a bigger edge and so you can tell variance that it wont not stop you''. BsB legendary graph motivates me to work harder everytime I think about it.

Anyway going away for 2 days but will be back on Sunday to grind again. Need to recharge my batteries but I will still leave the results:

CYA! :)

Nice posts! Have you changed you strategy, from ABC poker for you to creat a more advanced game with more small edges? It is a hard point where you are standing at the moment. I rreally admire your motivation! Keep it on!

Hey man,

Ouch. I honestly dunno how you can be motivated after such bad runs. Wish I could develop such mentality.
Do you reduce tables and play when such a thing occurs? Take more breaks? Or just play as you normally do?

I've recently started playing in ipoker and there are two things bothering me,
- How do you keep notes on players on speed poker? I can't seem to find a last hand button which will let me post notes and colour code him at my own time (like in Stars/FT)
- I cant seem to find the "sit out next BB" button :(

GL with your challenge mate.

TX mate! Honestly the only reason why EV is positive(I would still make some small money) is because people are still spewing/making random plays against a simple and straightforward guy(they are doing things frequently for the wrong reasons). So that said I can't be crushing the limits or beating it decently(not enough fishes) but rather surviving as a small winner(well obviously now not even that).

@ZeDawning
Well, the worse I run the more I get motivated. That's why I said that in some sort of way I like tough phases. Yes I did reduce the number of tables and yeah I take some 5-10min break approx. every 2h. About your questions:
1. Basically when I start the hand with someone and we get to a point that becomes ''interesting''(like he B OTR and I plan on C) I open HM2 Notes window and after it ends I just write it down. Sort of like anticipating the note.
2. There is no such thing. I don't have to tell you how I do not like iPoker software and the way they run business.

Anyway GL to you as well!

So guys,

Time for an update. Looks like ironically still didn't have 2 winning days in a row....Oh actually I didn't have 1 :P . I mean I moved down because of my BR getting shorter but also because I wanted some successful days but I'm not able to win currently(I cut the number of tables). I only played yesterday and on Sunday because I was on a small trip and had some RL issues. Also I hate iPoker software and the way you lose your money/not being able to play there because of some ridiculous consistent technical issues(Sunday peak time and you can't connect, what a fail ?().

In some sort of way it feels weird but not too much worried because I like to find always something positive in the bad things that happen and so I'm really looking forward to work more intensively with Gordon over the next few days and change things in the next month. So that being said I guess I should start working now:

GL!

So guys,

3 days have past since my last updated. I played not really a lot because I was focusing on other things which might help to start the new month better and more successful since the new month will bring a different approach. This time there will be very little RB and I will have to focus mostly on winnings.

iPoker network made the decision even easier to with the big issues that they currently have with their network. I also played some normal tables and finally got use of me girlish screenname. Looks like recreational players get emotional when they get involved with a ''female''. They call me out with all this nice names and wanna play pots against me as much as possible. So nice when their ego gets involved . So this are the results for the last couple of days:

That being said I will leave iPoker. The reason is basically show below when I compare $ tables and € tables and sort of this will be as well my monthly report.

DECEMBER(some NL20 from November)

JANUARY

Well kinda of an interesting month. I don't know what's wrong but obviously something is wrong and I was comparing things from December with this month and I can't find a really big difference in my playing style especially NL20 because I played always the same amount of tables. I mean in 3xk hands I didn't have one single major winning day. This are facts and so I asked Gordon if we can start something fresh and he agreed. I guess on Monday I will get RB and BR will get healthier again and so I still won't end this month in red overall but far from happy. I guess time to change things and a good start for that is a new month :).

hi nice blog and i have been quietly follwing it.
i see you made 3,5k$ in rakeback which is a lot for NL20-50, what % overall of rakeback you are getting? Was it deal with some rakeback manager?

Hi everyone,

@Zemnieks11
TX, mate! About the deal that's something I won't/not allowed really to discuss nor give any details. TX for understanding.

So basically moved my BR on different sites, although I still haven't got the RB which I hope will happen soon. I hit the normal tables and I didn't play that much in terms of hours because I was busy with all other things. But will change for sure.

I also now table selecting way more and it kinda seems to be a skill for itself. I was never seriously table selecting before so I find it sometimes really challenging to get good games going. I also fill good at the normal tables and in general my confidence is slowly coming back. But I guess there is still a way to go. Anyway this is what I managed to achieve for now:

Since I will have my BR spread over multiple sites it will be harder to show some results through one cashier so I guess I will edit it manually. Will be back when I get RB. Till then guys. CYA! :)

Challenge Day: 70

Hi everyone,

So today I got my RB payment and so I'm now completely ready to move from the site and start fresh on other sites. So after leaving iPoker the situation looks like this:

Yesterday was very OK-ish:

So since I'm 656.14$ up for this month this puts me:

TOTAL CHALLENGE: 5493.11$/10 000$

Let's hope I can continue providing this kind of results. I think next updated will be on Sunday. Till then. :)

Challenge Day: 71&72&73&74

Hey guys,

Enjoying my free day after a somewhat successful week. I mean I hit a nice upswing and the tables selecting definitely improved my results. The only bad thing was again Sunday(can't win on that day already for a while/since the begging of this year - hit again stop loss) where I wasn't really playing well and was on the wrong side of really close spots. But I think it's kinda of fair in some way because the rest of the week I was on the right side of this close spots. The fact that I really hit a decent run and that I was on the right side of variance proves the 1,3k$ day. I mean it was in EUR but still a 20BI day can't be that bad at NL50 :). Anyway here are the results:

TOTAL CHALLENGE: 5493.11$(LAST UPDATE) + 974.24$(WINNINGS 4 DAYS) + 640.67$(FDB = 100 + 340 + 130 = 470 EUR) = 7108.02$/10 000$

I have to say that we kinda got more deeper into the coachings and now really focus on quality. It's really a pleasure and I'm really eager and hungry to absorb more knowledge. I will also give myself a 5BI shot at NL100 and see how it goes.

Anyway off to my enjoy my free day and ttya guys on Thursday mos likely. GL! :)

Looks like the target will be reached within 100 days total. 100$ a day.
Great job!

Can you post some summary where you show winnings @NL50 without RB?

Having such a great RB deal is a delight that covers nearly whole BR.
Can you give some tip on where to look for a similar deal?

TX mate! Here you go:

About your last question I won't give any tips nor any information about it.

So guys,

NL100 went somewhat OK, although I think today I played my best games on this limits. Yesterday I was again playing too many tables and didn't took enough notes but today I think I found the right balance between volume and quality. Will see how that will go. Table selecting is something that I trying to get used to but it's really a skill. Anyway here are the results:

TOTAL CHALLENGE: 7108.02$(LAST UPDATE) + 835.44$(WINNINGS 3 DAYS) + 533.53$(FDB = 185 + 205 = 390 EUR) = 8476.99$/10 000$

Anyway that's it for today. Next update will be on Monday most likely. GL! :)

Hmmm, i think i get it now...

Watch how I turn $50 into $10.000 without using advanced strategies = Try to be BE and have a good RB deal?

Nothing personal, just don`t like people who sell useless books/videos to scam beginers. (we all know who..)

From just looking at your blog, i think in winnings you have something like 1-2k and the rest is rakeback/FDB/ other bonus / extra bonus / mega bonus... guess you had like 100% RB deal...

Anyway, as i said, nothing personal, like your work ethic.

+1
I don't want to come as a complete ass or anything, but seriously grinding rakeback and turning 50$ into 10k$ by actually winning at poker are two different things.

that being said, good luck with your challange, best wishes for you.

Haters will hate to see the updates ;)

Hans will probably explain this in more detail, but the main point with the sick volume was to build a solid bankroll.

I am not here to win beauty prices with students. I am looking for the best, fastest and most effective way to win money at todays games.

If that means playing 37tables and making 90% of income through RB, i am fine. RB is part of the game and i say this as somebody who went the other way in his career (mostly playing HU etc).

How it worked:

Well, Hans ran 60BI under EV, which is pretty tough to handle. Before that we had like 3-4bb winrate (in ev) MASSTABLING over a good sample following my simple guidelines, which is pretty sick imo. I wanna see any haters with those results.

After the Euro rake changes, results dropped in ev as well.

Changes:

Since we are open/transparent with the good AND the bad, there is no secret. Things didn't work out anymore so we went with reducing tables and the "increase our skill" strategy.

This will probably make some readers happy who were disappointed.

What you gotta know and learn is that the BIGGEST skill is to adapt not only to your opponent, but also your environment. Some things work for some time, but when they stop working you HAVE TO adapt.

And that's the reason why i NEVER care how good a student is at poker once they start working with me.

Attitude is the most important skill and Hans got a lot of it. I guarantee that 99,99% of people would have given up if they faced a similar sick run like him.

I don't wanna spoil, but i think we will see a new record day posted ;)

To booomm:

You do relize that you still need to be a winning player to make money after rb, even if u get 100% rb?

ie if ur losing 1bb /100 and making 3bb/100 after rb with 100% rb its because u are winning 4bb/100 pre rake.

So you cant just be a rb grinder if u are not at least a winner if rake was not involved.

to summarize truly be or losing players have no hope of making profit off rb. so what Hans is doing is truly impressive.
