Feb update:
Not much to add, decided to stop the battle cartel thingy at 60s after long consideration. Managed to play about 1k games at 60s which ended up in ~BE. Played about 900 games on 30s (down 20bi orso, about 35bi below ev). Not happy about my volume/motivation/focus for poker at all. Need to work on this next month. Abit happy that my reg vs reg game improved by alot thanks to the battles and some coaching.

If I don't hit at least 4k games next month I'll ship some $$$ on stars to anyone who posted after this post (unless something unexpected happen). Gotta motivate myself! This month really sucked since I played less than 2k games!

tl;dr write a random post for a free lottery ticket

Came across a hand that everyone says snapfold but during the time when it happened I wanted to call because I think it's close. Too lazy to convert but here's the hand:

Spoiler

PokerStars Hand #112797607885: Tournament #875852744, $29.37+$0.63 USD Hold'em No Limit - Match Round I, Level I (10/20) - 2014/03/05 13:27:07 CET [2014/03/05 7:27:07 ET]
Table '875852744 1' 2-max Seat #2 is the button
Seat 1: viohome28 (510 in chips)
Seat 2: ExcelionB (490 in chips)
ExcelionB: posts small blind 10
viohome28: posts big blind 20
HOLE CARDS
Dealt to ExcelionB [7h 8d]
ExcelionB: raises 20 to 40
viohome28: raises 40 to 80
ExcelionB: calls 40
FLOP [7c Ts Kc]
viohome28: bets 430 and is all-in
ExcelionB: folds
Uncalled bet (430) returned to viohome28
viohome28 collected 160 from pot
viohome28: doesn't show hand
SUMMARY
Total pot 160 | Rake 0
Board [7c Ts Kc]
Seat 1: viohome28 (big blind) collected (160)
Seat 2: ExcelionB (button) (small blind) folded on the Flop

We're risking 410 to win 980 which equals to ~42% min EQ needed.

Did a quick calc and came out with:
Board: 7cTsKc
Equity Win Tie
MP2 48.92% 48.65% 0.27% { 8d7h }
MP3 51.08% 50.82% 0.27% { QQ-JJ, 99-88, AQs-A5s, AQo-A7o }

And that's even a somewhat tight range as I've seen villain doing with weaker Aces and lower PPs.

Gets really close if villain has a wide 3bet range.
Board: 7cTsKc
Equity Win Tie
MP2 42.59% 42.45% 0.14% { 8d7h }
MP3 57.41% 57.28% 0.14% { QQ-JJ, 99-88, 66, AQs-A5s, K5s-K2s, QTs+, AQo-A6o, K6o-K2o, QTo+ }

Meh all in, too villain dependent IMO. Calling is deff an option vs the right villain.

Another spot.

geertweert: calls 20
FLOP [2d 8d 6c]
geertweert: bets 580 and is all-in

Board: 2d8d6c
Equity Win Tie
MP2 40.78% 40.52% 0.26% { 9s7h }
MP3 59.22% 58.96% 0.26% { K8s, K6s, Q8s, Q6s, J8s, J6s, T8s, T6s, 98s, 96s, 84s+, 76s, K8o, K6o, Q8o, Q6o, J8o, J6o, T8o, T6o, 98o, 96o, 85o+, 76o }

We're risking t340 to win t760 which is ~45% EQ needed. Snapfold huh, fml I called actually.

Probably doing few more of these spots that I've been lazy to do proper math. Whoever reading the blog and playing husngs, this is free ev for you guys.

Hand of the day: his line doesn't make sense. Was also testing how thin I can/should valuebet but I think my sizing was abit too big.

Hmmm a nice spot showed up right before my session end. I think this move is pretty good and I can rep teh nuts. Villain has been marked as a bad reg.

Great results, reading and following your blog for a while already - kind of a fan really!

Some questions for you - if you don't mind that is :)

1) Regarding OESD hand analysis
Do you really want to take that line long run in 1st blind level where you are still deep enough to keep playing and look for better spot?
I am just wondering what would be correct way to approach it. You are getting pot odds but I believe it can be misleading a bit considering that we can make mistake putting opponent on wrong range. With his tighter range there you will be behind (or I am wrong here ?). In general just wondering what you do there vs various type of opponents (aggro good reg, aggro bad reg, passive fish, aggro fish, calling stations, rocks etc)

2) How many tables are you playing at the time?

3) Do you apply any table selection on 30s?

4) What is the average ROI for 30s HU hypers decent reg on Stars?

5) What would you say is key difference between 15s and 30s in skill on Stars?

6) What BRM do you recommend for HU hypers?

Appreciate your responses for all of this and would definitely like to talk to you more about hypers as I am also considering switching to HU game in the future!

Hey! Going to answer them short, if you need detailed information you gotta ask me via skype or something.

1) Don't really understand the pot odds part. I mean if villain is betting half pot, you're getting 25% EQ and any OESD don't have that EQ (assuming villain will continue barreling). Regarding playstyle vs different opponent, against regs I play a balanced game style. Against fishes I play unbalanced and adjust to any leaks they have. The term 'aggro' is too wide as they can be aggro preflop or/and postflop, both have different approaches to counter them.

2) I play up to 3 tables.

3) Yes

4) It depends how many tables you play. I'll place my judgement based on two tables as that's the best amount of tables to have ROI wise.
1% roi = bad reg
2-3% roi = decent reg
4-5% = solid/competent reg
6% = crushing it
^This is assuming that table selection is applied and no more than half of the games are vs regs. Anything above 6% is probably a heater. A decent sample size is at least 5k games.

5) 30s regs are better but most of them still have leaks. At 15s the regs have even more leaks and usually easily exploitable.

6) 50/100/200 - aggro/std/safe brm. I'm using 200 myself.

Hey buddy,

Thanks for quick response to all my questions!

I was talking about this OESD hand you posted:

Was basically wondering do you want to take that call there in the 1st blind level ?

Regarding skill difference, I was more looking for specific things :)
Example: guys on 15s don't tend to 3 bet as much , or post flop they call down with super capped ranges etc

Look forward talking to you on Skype more!

No, I don't take marginal calls on the first blind levels because there are (more) room for edges. I thought I was somewhere around 50% favorite (also included some of his spazz range) due the fact that I almost have two overcards but right after calling I instantly noticed that its not true and possibly (a major) -EV call. So I went to do the math and I was indeed right. So yeah, not happy at all about that hand. Mainly posted it on my blog to remind myself haha.

Also the difference between OESD+OC and FD+OC is quite significant (equity wise). Another reminder to myself.

About the 15s, I haven't played there for like half year so I have no idea how the regs are. I guess you need to experience how husng hypers work in general and you'll notice how bad the regs are (usually too high cbet, MR etc).

Wasn't too sure if river was a valuejam vs fish/readless as his donking range is usually wide but never expected him to show up with that hand :f_o:

Yesterday was one of my best days I've felt at the poker tables. I feel this is one huge mental game achievement so I find it noteworthy to write about it.

I've played so good both skill and mental wise that I didn't even get mad/annoyed much. Usually I get mad/annoyed by suckouts/badplays/etc which don't affect my overall gameplay (I don't go spewing but just get pissed). Yesterday I was my first day where I ran bad and I feel I played tilt-free. I noticed because of that I've more "happy" at the tables. The best part is after my session, I wanted to check how much I won because I feel I played so good and PT4 showed a loss of -320$ (EV was BE). Didn't bother me at all and I'm happy.

Regarding volume: its going according to plan! Been playing 200games/day on avg which is about 7hrs of grinding per day. So far so good and I hope it continues like this!

Another 7hrs grinded today. Almost 2k games for the month, I'll post a graph once I'm at 2k games but the last few days I've been around BE.

Hand of the day: what is he trying to rep with double c/r ?(
