I know its much better to cut it completely and physically it should not be a problem, but i dont have strong mindset right now to do that
I've been interested in betting on someone being able to quit smoking for good for ten years now. So far I have not been able to find a way to cheaply but conclusively prove that someone isn't/hasn't been smoking in a certain period of time. Anyone have ideas of ways to prove it?
Fwiw, the ROI for betting against people who say they want to quit smoking is pretttty nice
And sorry for derailing your thread. I wish you best of luck! Smoking sucks - in every way imaginable.
gl with your challenge,
just to say something - the way to stop smoking over limiting it to 5 pieces a day is wrong. On this way you can't get your head clear from the wish to get - in let's say - 4 hours - next cigarette. You will fail - same as me.
Just do it as i did ♦
search for somebody, who hate smoking as hell and fall in love with (her, him... whatever). You will see how easy it is to stop suddenly smoking. (First time you will even not notice that you miss something...)
i'll check your progress ![]()

Hey, Thats a great advice but i dont think my girlfriend who i live with would like that ![]()
My plan is to switch over to other nicotine product that is not deadly and i feel like i cant just quit and need to cut it down to begin with.
Thanks for the support
1/5 Today so far. Not in great mood at all but feels very good as i have never been able to accomplish this before.
i respect anyone who attempts cold turkey or weaning, my dad did it after 4 or 5 attempts, i know its hard. in the short term its almost totally psychological (imo). i liked making rollups almost as much as i liked smoking them. i did it for many different reasons besides needing more nicotine, it was my hobby.
because nicotine is not particularly harmful on its own (in reasonable doses only of course) i would strongly recommend any habitual smoker reading this thread to switch your hobby from smoke to vapour. its cheaper, tastier, healthier and... drumroll... you can do it indoors.

GL man, i totally agree about it's all in your head, i have worked my mindset to point that i have quit drinking for 2 months now even before i have had the idea to stop drinking as it wasn't as appealing to me as it was few years back living the usual student life, just don't see a point in it anymore.
Still working my mindset to the point that i can let go off smoking, but i agree if you do it you need to cut it completely, switching to other nicotine products won't help, have seen several friends doing that, you will just go back to smoking same as my friends as you will prob realize that both are bad so it won't matter, just cut it at all.
Good luck and be the best version of yourself you can.
So finished yesterday 1/5 happy about it but could be better ofc.
I find it really hard in the morning after i have had coffee but i guess it is just the habit and i can find something else to do instead, Yesterday i could not resist smoking because i felt like i "deserved" taking a cig, Soooo baad mindset!!
Going to buy gym card today i hope this will motivate to quit easier.

Good job with stop drinking.
The best for me would have been to cut completely ofc but i dont think i am ready to that right now.
Some of my friends who have quit smoking are only smoking when they party, that would been awesome if i could also do that but i would probably fall back very easy but we will see.
Today 1/5 so far

cold turkey: it means to stop taking an addictive drug suddenly in order to break the addiction as fast as possible. i believe the term comes from the symptoms of withdrawal.
weaning: in this context is the gradual elimination of physical or psychological dependence on a harmful or otherwise inappropriate substance or activity.

Sorry to hear. If you really want to quit, then just cut it completely. Right now you just fool yourself.
I haven't smoked 4 days and don't really want to.
Cold turkey was just on day one
Hey buddy,
I stopped smoking since Jan 1st. I just stopped. It felt sick in the beginning. But I went past the 20th day or so, I just kept thinking about how irritating it would be to get to these many days without smoking again and it has just helped me stay off it till now. Don't plan on touching another cigarette ever again in my life.
Thought I'd just share my experience so far. Been two months now without a cigarette. To be honest it feels much longer. Don't get an urge to smoke even when people around me smoke.
Good luck on quitting.
