Ok so I am still alive and playing hmm live.

With April having more public holidays than any other month of the year work is a bit slow. Nobody wants to go to Court simply because it is a very well known fact that during this month productivity is very low. Also the High Court is closed.

This means that I have been playing a bit more live than normal

My local casino has been very quite the last couple of weeks. I dont know if everyone has gone on holiday or whether the economy is getting to the gamblers or there may be to many of these "illegal" games.

I went to the other casino which is about 35min drive on Friday based on the believe that I could find a bit bigger game there. Much to my disappointment they only had 10/25 ZAR tables. NB Friday was payday for many people and I was hoping to see a lot of action.

What I did see was that the players were playing very deep on these tables. One guy re-bought 3x for R10K (400BB) each time. I left my normal time ie midnight with a R10K profit but what got me was that I, with more than 400BB, was just an avg stack. I am not use to playing that deep. Normally I am the big stack with some 200BB stacks around.

Getting back to these "illegal" games I really would advise people to stay away from those. The simple truth is that you will not be invited to such a game unless they believe they can make money off you.

These games normally are either a very well run small group or a very big very badly run group.

What I mean is these small groups are normally a few (or sometimes just one) good players and the person running the game who will invite their victims to their game. The victim may be exposed to anything from passive collusion to dealers loading the deck. This is more prevalent than might be you may think. With the recent WPT here I heard from two different sources that some players I know were involved in such a setup in macau.

On the other hand you may encounter these very badly run big groups. I remember some years back attending such a club. It was amazing. There were 3 dealers. Father, son and friend. Two of them would deal for the tournament and one for the cash game. As soon as any of the tournament tables closes that dealer would join the cash game. So we would have a father dealing and his own son playing at the same table. Here is the kicker. The Father would take chips from his "tip box" and give it to the son to play! So you would go allin against son and if you win son will encourage you to give a big tip. Then Father would take the same chips that you just won from the son and gave to father as a tip and give it back to son!. If son wins he gives up to 33% "tip" to Father. Next hand "all in". I mentioned that I did not like this but the person running the club didnt see
a problem with it. So I never returned

i ve played in some of this illegal games myself.

I didnt run into any troubel besides the rake was pretty high. But you got free drinks and food and much bigger fish then in the casino.

Maybe I was lucky because one of those games was done by a guy I know form the casino and somewhat like a friend and I was on the good site.

I think its like everything in poker it depends

Since she's the only one who can do this, we'll have to play somewhere else. Fortunately, I created the imaginatively named 'JB's Club' so that I could get my arse handed to me on a plate in last year's PS HU tournament. Let's play there.

I reckon it's too ageist just to restrict it to old farts. Anyone can join but I reserve the right to throw you out if

(1) I don't like the cut of your jib,
(2) You check-raise me too often when I cbet 98% of my range,
(3) You're no fun.

Joining the club does not guarantee you entry to the Skype channel, because not everyone can cope with Roo asking what the rules of 2-7 single draw are for the 17th time.

We usually start three or four nanostakes MTTs in various games at about 8pm and play until Vorpal sucks out in the final HU pot.

Anybody up for 8pm this Thursday?
