After a night's sleep I still don't think it's fair towards those who were at the final table. 6 of them (so 60%, a clear majority) were actively playing, and each of the final table players (10/10, so everybody) had a bigger chip stack than they began with, which means that they have been active as well at some point. It obviously wasn't a server-wide problem (even though I was also disconnected shortly, but managed to get back on again within a minute), so why should we be punished?
In previous tournaments, there have also been many sitouts all the time after all. Heck, even Soy sat out in the previous one and in the end got more points than most of those who played for real. How about we take away all the points the idlers received, in every previous tournament? That would only be fair, no?
Yes, I'm of course most concerned because I won it, and because I'm currently on the bubble with my 19th place in the overall ranking, but I'm sure there are at least 5 other players who agree with me.
Since I announced the tournament to be cancelled and void, the only fair solution is to actually leave it cancelled and void. Many players went afk after the announcement or pushed any two cards in order to bust. Although I don't want to "put down" those players that did reach the final table - there is definitely a difference between reaching the final table in a tournament against competition that is actively playing, and playing against people that push any two cards, go afk, or no longer play seriously.
Since no one was forced to continue after the announcement, and it was clearly communicated that there would be no additional points for those playing - its not really "punishment" and will continue to stay this way.
I am currently looking for a replacement date. I am thinking of either having 2 tournaments at the same time in one of the next 2 weeks, putting it on a Sunday, or on another weekday at 20:00.
