I actually liked her. But, as they say, easy come - easy go.

:f_biggrin:
Hi Doc![]()
table selecting is boooooring.. I just sit and all the fish come to me ♦ .. I literally only have to worry about 1 or 2 annoying me at the tables (the only thing they do is 3betting me a lot) otherwise its a cruise to win money ♦ haha
Hey, Boomer2k10!
HM-8017 - Improvement: Preferred Seat Detection for Pokerstars
Finally - no more frustrating, flying stats!
Hello!
I have a few comments on the friday night LHE show (this was actually written yesterday, but I wasnt sure where to post it :).
1) tableselection:
------------------
First of all, I joined the table for exactly the reason that you mention: Its a strong one, and as it was on a friday night at 20:00+, I expected you (Bommer), to record a video for the show. I find such a game very educational, and when I can learn from your commentaries later on (today :), its really something that give me food for thoughts. I quit the "fishy table" to be able to keep focus on the hard one. Actually I use the tool called TableScanTurbo for table selection, which is a cheap and fantastic product for table selection. Fridays table was for sure not found with help from that tool, but from the fact that you, Boomer, was at the table (BigBrother is watching you! ![]()
2) An actual hand:
------------------
One of the hands that REALLY was an eye opener was the hand that started around 55:30 minutes into the video. I am in the CO with 55 and Boomer in the BB with Td9d. In that situation Boomer has (based on his videos
a pretty wide calling range.
Flop:
-----
comes 6c6hTh. I c-bet, Boomer raises, I 3-bet. I would expect Boomer to raise that flop with all sixes, all tens, pocketpairs, straight draws or flush draws. I would expect you to call with like 70% of all hands (too wide??).
Equilab gives:
Board: 6♣6♥T♥
Equity Win Tie
CO 49.54% 48.14% 1.40% { 5d5h }
BB 50.46% 49.06% 1.40% { 22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q2s+, J2s+, T2s+, 93s+, 84s+, 74s+, 63s+, 53s+, A2o+, K2o+, Q3o+, J5o+, T6o+, 96o+, 86o+, 76o }
Pretty equal so I guess takes the initiative makes sence?
turn:
-----
comes Queen of clubs.
Equilab gives:
Board: 6♣6♥T♥ Q♣
Equity Win Tie
CO 42.87% 41.65% 1.22% { 5d5h }
BB 57.13% 55.91% 1.22% { 22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q2s+, J2s+, T2s+, 93s+, 84s+, 74s+, 63s+, 53s+, A2o+, K2o+, Q3o+, J5o+, T6o+, 96o+, 86o+, 76o }
Not the best card for me. During play, I didnt think that card was that bad, but equilab tells me something different
River:
------
comes 8 of clubs.
Equilab gives:
Board: 6♣6♥T♥ Q♣ 8♣
Equity Win Tie
CO 39.40% 39.33% 0.07% { 5d5h }
BB 60.60% 60.52% 0.07% { 22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q2s+, J2s+, T2s+, 93s+, 84s+, 74s+, 63s+, 53s+, A2o+, K2o+, Q3o+, J5o+, T6o+, 96o+, 86o+, 76o }
Now that card I was aware was a bad card. It hit alot of straight draws, better that my 55, and I would hate to be faced with a re-raise so I checked behind.
Post hand evaluation:
---------------------
I am still happy with the hand, which for me is pretty alarming, as you mention it as being very very bad played! You also mention that its a mistake you meet alot on the lower stakes. Could you go a bit deeper into the hand? I am not sure why it was so bad played. A bit tad too agressive maybe, but I was trying to protect my 55. What would be better. Just calling down passivly after being 3-bet on the flop?? I guess I cant find a fold any where??
Additional note:
----------------
I LOVE the format of live coaching play. When you do thise videos, I always find interesting situations, or even situations that I didnt know was interesting (as the 55 hand above!!). There is no doubt that 99% of microstakes players do have alot to learn (myself included), but "to tell you the truth" (hey! thats your phrase!), your videos are very educational, and even with sucky plays as above, I have managed to raise my bankroll above $600 to get more involved in the 0.5/1 games - maybe some day in a billion years we will
meet at 2/4
And an extra question: Can you clarify which situations you find it best NOT to c-bet the flop in a 2 or 3 handed pot?

when theres no merit in cbetting as in you wont get value and you wont get your opponent/nents to fold.(when you have a shit hand)
Hey Doc
You're right than my x/r'ing range on that flop is super wide, however I will balance my calling range somewhat these days by adding top pair and some trip combos in as well so it's not entirely easy to read/eliminate hands on future streets
The problem with taking the initiative there is that you have an almost perfect bluff catcher, you even block some of my outs with 3-straights etc so what you want is for me to keep bluffing if I am
Secondly you're utterly dead if I'm ahead
Thirdly vs a predicatble player your 3-bet makes sense becasue if you get spiked on the turn it's an easy fold, but I would hope I'm not that predicatable and since I definitely have a value range on this turn I will also re-bluff vs your 3-bet on the flop by raising the turn and this puts you in a truly awful situation where you've bloated the pot and now you're got no option but to fold with a hand you could easily have seen SD with (you can't call down unless this isn't the worst hand you 3-bet with)
Additionally, and this is more "exploitative", I would estimate the vast majority of players would slowplay here in position vs a x/r with a hand which has nailed this board, so a 3-bet actually looks weaker from my angle than a call folp/raise turn line.
Re: Checking Ranges
It's pretty much about 2 things:
1) Range Assymetry (How much stronger is your range than your opponent's)
2) Board Texture (Who hit the board better)
Boards that are low and really wet like 456tt are boards where the preflop aggressor could even be at an equity disadvantage. We already know from the stacking bluffs model that 100% c-betting is overbluffing the flop but this is often fine becasue our range is just simply stronger than the BB's so we don't feel the pain as much, on these boards we don't have an equity advatnage so we're basically putting bad money in because "well I always 100% c-bet" and that's not really the best way to look at it
As for what hands to check-back...the answer is "well a bit of everything". What you're looking to do is preserve your future card equity while also strengthening your betting range on the flop. So hands with SD value, hands with one card backdoors where bet/folding is bad, sometimes the utter nuts where it crushes the board
