Hey guys ! So a little update, zoom has been going very poorly. I had to check my results and in one session I went down 25BI in 8k hands.
This comes from a combination of life stress and tilt really had affected my game negatively.
So here's why(I will leave it in a spoiler in case people reading only want the poker related stuff ♦ ) :
Spoiler
So basically since cashing out in January, I've been going to school part-time and playing poker the rest of the time. I just turned 19 last October so I'm still quite young and most people my age are working a part-time job for about 10$/hour.
I have to admit , I don't come from a poor family and I have been given pretty much whatever I want since I was young. I'm a super grateful towards my parents and we have a very healthy relationship. The only problem is POKER. I had to explain to them how in the long run it's not gambling and all that, which they do accept. But the thing is my parents have the money to pay for my University this year but I really wanted to help, by paying some of it . So I decided to play poker.
Before January I had always played poker for "fun" and didn't really care if I was on a downswing. Now that I promised my mom I would help her out, I'm stressed and anxious whenever I play. This is really strange because I've never felt like that doing anything in my life. Every time I lose now, it's like all my goals just came crashing down. I have read the mental game of poker but my issues go a little farther than the book imo. Lately, even while winning I don't sleep well and have headaches all day. Whenever I'm with friends, I'm thinking: " Why I'm I wasting time ? I should be playing poker . So that I can make enough money to pay my mom back." Needless to say, a few days ago after the downswing,I pretty much had a breakdown. My mom being, the kindest person I know told me to not worry and that I should consider quitting poker, getting a part-time job to buy things that I want and that she would pay for my school. After a few days of deep reflection and being very honest with myself. I realized that playing poker pretty much full-time will never be for me.
The reason being:
1) I cannot handle downswings, when my real life is affected. I'm the type of person who has never liked taking risks and would much rather have a stable lifestyle. As well as by working hard at school and getting a degree and good notes as a software engineer. Will definitely be more profitable then I ever would playing poker. Especially if I look at it in the long term.
2) I'm the type of poker player who plays really well, when playing a few short sessions a day. But playing 6 hours a day , just leads me to play my F game.
The conclusion of the past few days is that even though I really like poker , I will never again play "Full-time". I have also been looking for a part-time job, that will probably pay 10$/hour and I'm hoping to get about 20 hours a week. For me poker, is a great hobby where I can make a little money every month and that's where it will always belong. I don't have any living expenses. So all the money I make at the part-time job is for having fun. So 200 a week is definitely enough. Plus I won't have to rely on making money playing poker, which is a huge burden of my shoulders.
I'm still going to play poker part-time, but maybe just when I feel like it. Even if my poker hourly is higher than 10$/hour, my life EV is seriously affected and it's simply not worth it. So I'm still going to play an hour or two a day and live like a normal 19 year old the rest of the time. I will still post graphs and hands OFC ♠_biggrin:
Interesting hands, unfortunately I g2g really soon but I will add my thoughts later

Analysis :
1) So flop is standard, his bet size doesn't say much. But in general, from what I've observed Nl50 regs would bet 2-2.25 with a set or a straight.
2) Turn is not standard, I decide to widening my calling range based on the fact that he is barreling too much and that he is probably on the level where he knows K is a good barrel card but he probably doesn't know that I know that he knows that. If that makes sense :P, so I'm assuming he would bet this card too frequently with air type hands. I feel like 88-JJ would tend to check the K,most of the time even if in reality I have no Kx in my range. He acted pretty quickly during the hand, so my assumption was that he wold have to think a bit before value betting 88-JJ on the turn.
Are you calling river? I think it's a lot closer then it seems. Considering he should not ever play Kx this way. The other thing is that almost all his draws hit a pair on the 9 and it really changes nothing. Because he shouldn't double barrel second pair +gutshot, IP. If he has 89, why would he overbet river?
2) This river will hit my perceived X/C range pretty hard But I'm probably just leveling myself ![]()
Hand 2) vs bad Nl100 reg who thinks I'm a fish. He is actaully really passive but vs me just 3 barrels all the time. What rivers are you folding ? Which ones are you calling?
