Hi w34z3l,

First of all,I think this will be a great series for micros :f_biggrin:

My homework:

1.I did ranges with Equilab.

btw: before this video, I used ranges from strategy/No limit/Platinium , but they are for NL200

2.I use some online calculators for ROR.I have 3-4 BB winrate on nl 10. Here is the numbers:

2000 big blinds 5.82%
3000 big blinds 1.4%
4000 big blinds 0.34%
5000 big blinds 0.08%
Minimum bankroll
(for less than 5% risk of ruin) 2106 big blinds

My bank is ~ 5000 big blinds.

So 25 buy ins is great for me , and I will use same BRM, which is recommended

3. I will made picture of my setup.

Cheers

Bobby.

Lets get it started!

I'm from Russia (Moscow), playing NL10-20 SH Speed on Titan and some offline poker as well. Works well for me right now, but feeling, what I'm growing too slow and not working on improoving my game enough.

1. Loaded ranges to Flopzilla (recently switched to it from good old Equilator)

These ranges are more loose, then I'm using (playing 21/16), so will test some of these loose strategies.

2. Current bankroll is about 300$ (deposited 100, than upped to 600, relaxed and dropped to 200, and then recovered to 300 atm)

Current BRM plan is a bit agressive, which is ok for me

up to NL10 - 20 buyins min - 200$
up to NL20 - 25 buyins min (500$), down at 15 (300$)
up to NL 50 - 25 buyins min (1250$), down at 15 (750$)
up to NL100 - 30 buyins min (3000$), down at 20 (2000$)

My place is far from ideal for now, so no photo this time =)
But I'll be working on this one.

3. HUD (bonus part)

I'm using following setup right now:

VPIP/PFR/WTSD/3Bet/FoldTo3Bet/4Bet
AF/AF%/TurnAF%/RiverAF%/Steal/FoldToSteal
FlopCBet/FlopFoldToCBet/TurnCBet/TurnFoldToCbet/Hands
OverallCheck-Fold/OverallCheck-Call/OverallCheck-Raise
Notecaddy Badges (with some custom badges about squeeze, 3bet ranges, coldcall ranges, agressiveness with sets and so on)

What should I add and what should I remove (for NL10-20 games for now)?

Thanks for this series, this will be something really interesting and extremely useful.
Waiting for the new part.

personally I just break down those Afq stats in a popup somewhere rather than having it street by street on your HUD< but nothing over wrong with this.

I'm not sure if overall x/f,x/c,x/r are that useful, would be much more useful if it was specifically for the flop. You could have the info for other streets in a popup somewhere.

Other stats to consider - raise vs flop cbet, donk-bet flop, fold bb vs sb steal, 4bet-range instead of 4bet%

and then you should be good to go :)

Hey w34z3l,

first of all I want to thank you for this great vid.

But I have a question regarding to the Cold-Calling Ranges. I think I have a huge leak in Cold-Calling, so my question is what were your thoughts by constructing these ranges. Have you done some analysis in Equilab, e. g. the Range of CO is 30% and with hand XX I have a equity of 35%, so this is call?

Assuming 100bb deep stacks I don't think equity is the most important factor in preflop decisions - we should be more concerned with the playability of our hand. (We don't completely disregard equity of course). This is why for example, MP opens and I would call on the button with 9Ts and fold A8o despite A8o being a higher equity hand.

I consulted some ranges calculated using game theory concepts as a framework. I then adjusted the ranges based on my own experiences playing millions of hands at micro-stakes + consulted my DB at some stages to determine which hands were profitable.

I don't expect these ranges to be perfect - and I welcome everyone to make any adjustments to the ranges depending on their exact game-style. I think they should be a pretty good guide for what you can realistically defend at micro-stakes though :)

thank you for your quick answer.

I think I will implement your CC-Range step by step to become familiar with that and look if I can boost my winrate with that, too.

best regard and waiting for the next episode _love:

I'm not a huge fan of min-raising. I prefer 2.2x. I think the average opponent is playing worse vs a 2.2x than a min-raise. Having said that there is nothing theoretically incorrect about min-raising the button.

You shouldn't necessarily be concerned if smaller opens are working less often - they don't need to work as often after all. But 3x from CO is totally fine imo. I doubt 2.2x is hugely superior or anything, but it's my preferred sizing.

Here is my homework!

1) I have saved your open-raising and cold-calling ranges into Equilab:

2) I found this formula for ROR on the Internet:

ROR = e ^ (-2WB / (S ^ 2))
e = constant (2.718281828)
W = win rate bb/100
S = std dev bb/100
B = bankroll in bbs

I have created an Excel file with this formula and calculated ROR for several bankrolls using my HM data for NL5 and NL10:

I am currently playing NL5 and given this ROR I think my BRM should be something like this (which is very similar to what weasel suggested):
NL10 with 300$, move down at 200$
NL25 with 800$, move down at 550$
NL50 with 2000$, move down at 1250$
NL100 with 5000$, move down at 3500$
3) And here is my setup, as clean as it can get!

Great series! Looking forward to the next episode!

Hello!

As a teacher, usually it's me the one who gives homeworks to others, but let solve one by myself. :P

1) I did put the open and cc ranges into my Equilab. Here's the picture:

2) I have a bit conservative BRM atm. I never play a limit if have less than 40 buy ins for it and move up when have 44 buy ins for a higher limit (give it a try of 4 buy ins). Currently I play NL20 on iPoker with the bankroll of 1.005,57 EUR.

According to http://www.pokerbankrollblog.com/calculating-bankroll-requirements.htm , we can calculate the RoR by the following formula (it's allready posted, but will repeat):
RoR = e ^ (-2WB / (S ^ 2))
e = Constant (2.718281828)
W = Win Rate, measured in bb/100 (author suggests $/hour)
S = Standard deviation in bb/100 (author suggests $/hour)
B = Bankroll, measured in bb (author suggests $)

I have only 4.619 hands at NL20 in the current poker room (recentlly moved), but will post the calculation for the numbers as they are atm:
W (EV) = 1,34 bb/100
S = 47 bb/100
B = 5.027,85 bb
RoR = 0,22%

Here is an Excel table for different limits (assuming that all other values, except the size of bb, would stay the same):

3) This is the picture of my workstation, when I throw all the things down:D:

I use this simple HUD…
VPIP / PFR / FlopCB / FtFlopCB
ST / FtST / 3B / Ft3B
WtSD / AF / H
… but have configured my pop ups to show all the other important things (including all streets).

Thank you! Looking forward to next videos!

Hi w34z3l!

It is my homework.
1. I have added ranges of RFI and Cold Call in PS Equilab:

2. I have counted ROR at http://pokerdope.com/poker-variance-calculator:

I use such BRM (I am playing now NL 5 at 120$):
Move to NL 5 at 100$ move down to NL 2 at 50$
Move to NL 10 at 250$ and move down at 150$
Move to NL 25 at 750$ and move down at 500$

3. I display these stats. Could you advice me to improve this one:
VPIP/PFR/3BET/FOLD TO 3BET/STEAL
Agg Factor/ FLOP CB/ FOLD TO FLOP CB/WTSD/HANDS

4. And my work place:

Hi,

I would not recommend cc with hands like AQo and from the CO or MP vs UTG open. Since these ranges are intended for not only micro's but also smallstakes (where ppl are squeezing quite wide) i feel that you are making your calling range very weak to a squeeze and overcall, especially getting overcalled. Allowing yourself to get overcalled by the BTN or BL'ds and unnecessarily sharing equity, kinda sucks. Imagine this scenario, UTG opens you cc, and BTN cc's with 20% of hands. How would you continue even when you hit your A or Q. Flop comes AT9ss Utg cbets... Hero??? Not a very profitable situation and thats probably one of the better flops for you.

I would 3B bluff AQo and similar hands (KJs etc) from CO or MP vs UTG. Similarly you can expand this strategy to include 3bet bluff AJo CO vs MP etc. Of course what im saying here is more applicable for NL25-100 players than for perhaps NL2-5 players.

But dont take my word for it. If you have gold status please check out the vid by Oblioo: http://www.pokerstrategy.com/video/29074/

Anyways really looking forward to future video's and I must give W34z3l the thumbs up, I have been using him as a coach for 2 sessions now and I've gotten a lot of value from his teachings.

Keep up the good work,
Ruaan

I think the strategy advised by oblioo is more applicable to 50nl+ which is outside the scope of this series. This series is really intended primarily for guys playing 25nl and below. Aggressive squeezers are much less of an issue here.

Marginal 3bets can quickly become -EV at the micros after rake has been factored in, so I think there is a lot to be said for increasing the number of single-raised pots we play. We have a higher edge with a higher SPR + when the money goes in we have a higher equity edge in general. So partly the lack of aggressive 3betting advised in this series is an anti-rake strategy which oblioo probably doesn't need to consider in his regular games.

@elpsycho - good job :) Looking forward to your setup picture

@alleen86 - that's a nice tidy desk! Calculations look good, although standard-deviation looks like it may not be accurate over this sample size.

@dima6235166 -Thanks for bringing to my attention that variance calculator. Also congrats on a baller setup :)

Also in general well done to the guys that realised in order to calculatelrisk of ruin you can factor in dropping down limits. In other words you effectively have a larger amount of buyins in your roll than it might first appear. Zeffke noticed this especially if you check his post.

Thanks for your comments w34z3l!

But what do you think about my stats:

VPIP/PFR/3BET/FOLD TO 3BET/STEAL
Agg Factor/ FLOP CB/ FOLD TO FLOP CB/WTSD/HANDS

Should I perhaps add some stats or delete some ones?

?

I would think about a fold to steal stat.
Turn cbet and fold to turn cbet.
Donk-bet flop.
Flop raise vs cbet.

Those are the main ones you need imo :)

Part 3 of the series will be going into detail about configuring your HUD so stay tuned :)

When are you planing to issue second and third parties?

It would be really nice to have this series come out in a rather back to back fashion,
rather than having to large a pauses between the different parts ;)

Homework done but doesn't look as pretty as some, my skills are limited! Lol.

ROR: Well I was running at -bb/100 for some time now so I don't think i need reminding of the ROR of that.
I did drop down three levels so that saved my butt, but the ROR seems to assume a constant winrate is that correct?

No setup pic sorry, I have no camera just at present.

Anyway, looking forward to episode two!
