-Hes a most likely a fish raising to 5BB.
-If i flatcall here i will never fold on a A or K high boards.
-So IMO just 3bet to isolate and call if he shoves. But it seems kind of spewy.
-Should i just fold preflop or what?

Hi,

I would just flat-call this hand this deep against any type of villain (against maniacs I could 3-bet/jam). Flatting keeps his range wide and usually when fish opens 5bb he will have a hand that he is ready to go all-in with.

When we call he will most likely be quite honest post-flop. So call, keep the pot small and try to make it to showdown with your hit and try to pot-control when you have less than a pair.

Disclaimer: I'm not a coach, so these are my own opinions.

Ty for the contribution.

If ur gonna call to hit ur top pair then call down all the way, then its better to just 3bet/call when the pot is so big. I mean if i call the pot will be 11½ BB. If he bets pot again and i have flopped top pair i will not fold. if he bets pot again on the turn and i have top pair i wont fold. So just reraise urself. And i wont be isolating myself against a narrower range than what he raised with in first place. Because when he bets 150 preflop when the stacks are all 3000, if I 3bet to 350, he will never fold what ever he raised with. And u say fish are honest, thats what they are not. They have pure random hands in their range like 2-7o when they shove at this low stakes. Also they rarely stop betting if they have the lead. Just press buttons. U know wha im saaayin ;)?

Hi,

Well, if we would assume he raises only hands like JJ+, AK pre, we will know that he won't fold to our 3-bet. He will go all the way. And then you are at a flip at best, which means you will drop out from the tournament 50 % of the time you make this move. This means you will lose 1/2 the whole tournament in the beginning. And that is something you should avoid.

We are not calling to hit just top-pair. If he has AK, he might even ch/fold flop. If he has a hand like JJ and flop is Q high, he could ch/call once and then give up. Who knows! But anyway, when we call we can keep the pot smaller and play more optimal against that player without risking our whole tournament. If we were like 20-30bb's deep then I'd go for the 3-bet here 100 % of the time tbh, as we need to take some risks and some fish might even overplay AQ/AJ from time to time.

Hard to believe he has 2-7o. Against a maniac you could face some random hand yes, but an average microstakes weak player's range is quite often face-up both pre-flop and post-flop. And they can definitely stop betting if missed. Some won't, but then we will get quite a lot value for our TP.

Anyway, against a huge fish we know raise/calls a lot with weird sizings we could 3-bet this. Against unknown or reggish guy calling is 99 % of the time the best option - the UTG range is simply so tight that we don't want to turn our AK into a bluff before flop.

lol he was unknown at time, 2 hands after, he faced a utg raise 100bb deep in BB, called the raise, flop comes A28 rainbow, he checks, preflop raiser bets, this fish suddenly shoves 100bb and utg calls, fish had QQ, utg had AK. lol. thats what i mean. they show up total random hands. hahaha :P
