NL2 - KK showdown vs 2Pair

Preflop: looks fine

Postflop: I would double barrel the turn with the intention of folding if we get raised.

AQ is about 12 combos while QQ and JJ are at most 6 combos. So if those are the only hands you have him on that means that he is much more likely to hold AQ.

So I would bet turn and go from there.

As played the river is close because some people do not bet AQ or Qx there but if you don't know for sure calling is fine.

I guess one of my bigger struggles right now is getting a feel for the strength of my Top Pair/Overpair/Middle Pair after the turn/on the river. I've been called down by both air and the nuts at NL2. I have a hard to knowing when double barrelling is spewy and when it's correct aggression. I checked in this case because I know my opponent's range includes JJ-QQ and I wanted to minimize possible loss. I guess I should be playing to what I think is most likely my opponent's range(AQ) and just take it every third time it's the nuts(JJ-QQ)? As you suggest if I barrel the turn and my opponent bets the river is that my queue to fold?

Generally you wanna be value betting fairly freely. This is the same reason that bluffing over several streets is generally suicidal at NL2; people like to call down with made hands, without necessarily thinking about what you might have. In this hand betting the turn would make the river easier to play; chk/call flop and turn and donk lead river is usually a value line from villain that has your overpair in poor shape. So you can bet/fold turn and chk back river unimproved, folding to a river donk.

I guess now that I think about it makes more sense anyway if I would call a river bet to just bet on the turn instead. I guess my 1Pair hands go from Value to SDV instantly once I hit the turn when I should be thinking more into the situation. Maybe one day I will stop being a :f_confused:. Thanks guys.

To add to what has been said, yes you want to be valuebetting as much as possible rather than play passive (and pay people off or lose value when they have worse).

In this case the amount of worse hands possible is far more than the amount of better hands.

So I would go with a bet on the turn (and you can fold to a raise) and if he calls and donks river (shove) we can fold as well.
