Poker Tip Of The Day

I encourage everyone to post at least one poker tip a day. Any advice as long as it is related to playing poker. it can be something you learned or experienced during a game, or something you heard from someone else :)

Here's my share for the day:

Pick the right game for your skill level
There are people that jump into a $5/10 game after winning a huge bunch of money at $2/4. they're too excited they get carried away thinking that they already handle high stakes. what they do not understand is that as the stakes rises, so does the average skill level of the players.

If you're pondering a certain preflop spot; ' Is this a good spot to 3 bet', then just 3 bet'.

If you're pondering a certain river value spot; ' I hope I don't get check-raised', then just value and happily fold to most crams

Never grind on a stranger's laptop. The prison sentence and the damage to your reputation just isn't worth the hassle.

basically if you're rather new to internet-poker: take care not to lose all of your deposited money in a few days
don't do big bluffs on cash tables, that's gonna get you a blank cash account, I've been there and I've seen it
The same goes for semi-bluffs or pushs with cards like QJ (which I witnessed recently when a friend of mine played, can't tell if it was suited tho, but still...)

Select the right game for your skill level and pocket.

Don't jump into a game with higher stakes just because you just won an easier one. It's better to be the best player at an easier table than the loser at the harder one.

Basic knowledge in 5 card draw: never overplay trips.

Start at the bottom up, if you can't beat a freeroll then it won't get any easier at higher stakes.

Table selection is the most important thing you can do to help your win rate.
