It's time to Spin & Go

PokerStars have introduced the fastest way to spin up your bankroll in single table tournaments - Spin & Go. You can win up to $30,000 or 1,000 times your buy-in.

Spin & Go's are three-max hyper-turbo tournaments with 500 starting chips.
Buy-ins between $1 and $30.

Each prize pool is randomly drawn and the winner gets between twice and 1,000 times their original buy-in.

These tournaments have one of the lowest SNG rakes ever of 4%.

When you register for a Spin & Go, the prize pool is unknown.

When all three players are registered, the prize pool is announced, and you begin playing.

The prize pool can be x1200, but on the top 3 tiers, 2nd and 3rd get 10%.

From the PokerStars website:

* You will not leave the table empty-handed if your Spin & Go randomly draws one of the three highest prize tiers but you do not win the tourney. In addition to the first-place prize, the second and third-place finishers will also receive 10% of the first-place prize.

First place gets 1000x buyin while second and third get 100x each, total of 1200x buyins.

Do you guys think that playing these would be +EV considering that the vast majority of SNGs would net less then the standard equivalent but on the other hand some have the chance of getting much higher payout? Also, from what you have seen so far are there a lot of fish especially at lower buyins?

Would playing $1 or $3 be more +EV due to more fish or would a minimum of $7 be better considering payout chance structure and less rake?

The mind boggles...

Apart from the rake all the money is put back into the games. So it´s just your normal ROI with raceback and retarded variance.

Fish will love it though

I just now played a $1 game to try it and won $2.

Was disappointed to see the spin end on 2x.. oh well.

It only lets you play 5 at a time?, but I would struggle with more than 2 HU at a time anyway.

I think it will appeal more to recreational players and gambling types, so they should be fairly profitable.

So far my ROI on them is 100% - hope to improve on that. ;)

I've played only a few of them (I mean Stars / FTP, not iPoker ones), so there's no wonder I haven't shipped anything bigger than $180 (6x BI) at once at Rational Services sites. My biggest prize in a single given Twister is slightly bigger - €200 (20x BI). I've lost a €2K one, though, AQo<KTo, as I've already written somewhere.

Agree to a certain degree, it will blow over after the initial buzz. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Not difficult to guess where they are heading with this. Next step introduction of casino games. Roulette, blackjack, slots anyone. Watch this space.
