I have Tournament winnings graph showing Green line winnings and Red line All in EV, but it is on a white background. I suspect that I have the default layout, could you tell me how to change it to look the same as yours :)

Cheers

Steve

In HM2, go to Settings --> Display Settings --> Theme (drop down box) --> Dark (I suspect you are on default which is a much brighter display).

Note that once you select it, you will have to close HM2 and then restart it.

Hope this helps.

As anyone who followed my blog probably knows; I'm not playing at the moment.

I got really bored of SNGs, I wanted more post flop play and playing 3 hour sessions don't really fit with my day.

At the moment I can't really find the right format for me and as such my motivation has gone quite a bit. Other stuff is happening in my life at the moment so I'll be putting all my energy into that.

I will still be around on skype for all those who've chatted to me on there :)

Hey Paul.

I've switched to cash not only for more post flop (which is better for my deep stack live play) but for flexibility for when the little one comes along!

Hope everything goes okay for you mate. I'm sure it will :f_thumbsup:

I fear our merry little band of SnG players has scattered to the wind... Maythany is tackling zoom, Zachrina is switching to cash and enjoying success on the live circuit, and you're enjoying other life pursuits...

I'm holding true boys... but it is a lonelier road. All the best.

As some of you know, I've switched to 6 max cash. I need to decide whether I'm sticking with 6 max or will transition to full ring. I am playing a mixture of zoom and regular tables, either 4x zoom tables or 1 zoom and 9 regular tables. I need to figure out what the pros and cons are of each and work out what suits me.

I will post some hopefully interesting stuff and work on some short term goals in the coming week. I'm quite excited by all of this!

Hit silver on stars with 2 days to spare and cashed out my points for an amazon voucher.

If anyone gets the problem of being €0.01 short on the Cadooz site, you just have to send them an email and they'll sort it out.

Going to spend my amazon money on a foldable exercise bike. I'm really unfit at the moment and need to sort it out for football coaching and improving my general productivity.

Now i've got the FPPs I saved up spent for the most part, I am actually free to play at any site.
A few people have mentioned that stars zoom isn't exactly the softest. As far as I'm aware my other options are full tilt rush and party poker. I don't think I can deal with iPoker frankly.. the software is just so bad and the customer support is terrible.

Here's a hand I played, preflop is aggressive and definitely not indicative of my normal play at NL5 but I had reads.

Poker Stars, $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $4.03 (80.6 bb)
Hero (BB): $4.53 (90.6 bb)
UTG: $11.73 (234.6 bb)
MP: $12.03 (240.6 bb)
CO: $5.25 (105 bb)
BTN: $5.20 (104 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6 9
3 folds, BTN raises to $0.10, SB calls $0.08, Hero raises to $0.40, BTN folds, SB calls $0.30

Flop: ($0.90) Q 2 5 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.35, SB calls $0.35

Turn: ($1.60) 8 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

River: ($1.60) 9 (2 players)
SB bets $0.85, Hero calls $0.85

Results:

Spoiler

$3.30 pot ($0.14 rake)
Final Board: Q 2 5 8 9
SB showed 3 6 and lost (-$1.60 net)
Hero showed 6 9 and won $3.16 ($1.56 net)

I won't be posting results for this month as I've only played 18k hands in 1.5 weeks.

My goal for next month will be to play 60k hands and to keep working hard simplifying the areas of my game that need to be made more straight forward.

If I end up being able to move up to NL10, great. If not then that's fine too.

Hey it's been awhile!

Glad to see you're back playing poker!

I don't go on skype anymore because I don't have time to.

Work-personal time-poker-study.

I'm going to move up to 5nl after 100k hands at 10bb/100 at 2nl. We should do some sessions like we've done in the past. It was pretty fun lol.

One of the biggest tips I've come across for micro stakes cash is: Don't slowplay at the micros!

I've always been interested by slow playing. Out of all the stunts and maneuvers players have at their disposal, slow playing is arguably the most psychologically intense.
I wanted to look at it from a mathematical perspective and see how different lines vary in EV.

Here's an interesting spot that came up when I was looking at a few hands on skype.

Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets $0.25, Hero calls $0.25, fold

River: ($2.15, 2 players) K♣

Hero shows 8♥ 7♥ (Four of a Kind, Sevens) (Pre 20%, Flop 99.9%, Turn 100%)
UTG mucks J♣ J♥ (Full House, Sevens full of Jacks) (Pre 80%, Flop 0.1%, Turn 0%)
Hero wins $4.42

There seems to be a theme of people sending me cool/funny hands on skype and me ending up with a full blown Card Runners EV investigation a few hours later.

On the turn there's an interesting decision to be made. Our opponent has shown at least some interest in coming out to play.

Do we continue slowplay or do we try and get some value.

A few considerations, at this point our opponent is quite polarised between high cards that have some showdown equity but can't stand much pressure, and pocket pairs. Rather than trying to cater to his whole range, we should focus on hoping he's got a pocket pair and maximising our profit from that.

CREV is pretty adamant: Check the turn and re-raise any bet until you've got nothing left.
If opponent checks the turn, bet the river and re-raise any bet.

I was slightly surprised, I shouldn't have been.. it's not like CREV is plucking ranges out of thin air. I put the ranges for each response in and got it to calculate the best exploitative strategy for hero. Even with me changing some of the opponents response ranges, it stuck with the above strategy. Interestingly the difference between slow playing the turn and betting the turn is around 10%-20% EV depending on how you make adjustments. Doesn't sound like much but when a huge chunk of your win rate is decided by maximizing value betting, it's suddenly a very important area to focus some study time on.

Btw if anyone wants the crev file, pm me.

Interesting hand and analysis. I wonder what the mechanics (read mathematics) are behind it though? What is it analyzing exactly to determine that check-raising the turn is the maximum EV line?

I've never used CREV before, but I have seen a clip or two of it (maybe on the website or YouTube)... and it seemed very in-depth... something I'm sure you're eating up!

The basis of it is pretty simple once you get used to it.

A is our decision point on the river when the turn goes check check. What you can see is branch coming off where we bet 3/4 pot. The blue line going downwards is the branch where we check and leads to our opponents possible responses off image.

B Is the opponents decision point. You can see he has the option of reraising us, calling or folding.

The hand names beneath the branch are the hands I've entered as him completing each action with.
The 0% shows the % of time he will do this. The reason it is 0% is because earlier in the tree on the turn I expected him to bet with all these hands, therefore when it goes check check - these hands are effectively eliminated from his range. This is also why fold is 100%

C "All hands" means a full range from AA to 72o but because fold is the bottom branch it actually means AA to 72o minus AA-99 (his reraising hands) and TT-22, AK (his calling hands).

I use holecards at each point because I'm still getting used to the software and wanted to do this quickly for someone. Normally people do it by hand value (For example: Reraises with TPTK+, Calls with open ended straight draw, folds everything else).
(Ignore the letters)

It just compares the % of time we'll win and the pot we'll win at the end of each branch (which may take it through multiple decision points before arriving at the showdown). Then it works out the likelihood of this happening based on our opponents range (and our range, this investigation has hero with JUST 87s of hearts, I could give hero a range instead).

It then compares the EV of each option (Raise, Call, Check, Fold) at each decision point and keeps going up the tree until it reaches the first decision point.

The impressive thing CREV can do is to work out the maximally exploitative strategy v villains strategy for our entire range We could sit and work it out on paper in a situation like this where we have a single hand, but I can't even think where I'd start if I had a range off hands.
