A decent month by any standards. Stakees all did well in what can only be described as the toughest month yet for pro SNG players, as Spin & Gos took off at Stars. I managed a whopping 35 hours of coaching which is the most I've got in so far.
My live session 6mx video was released here on Pokerstrategy and received a ton of nice comments, which was encouraging. Hope to do more videos soon!
I took an hour of HU coaching to help a bit with my big Spin & Go experiment. I decided that, like it or not, this is the biggest thing to hit SnGs in the last few years so it makes sense at least to know what I'm talking about. I should have a 1k sample to report on in the next few days, so watch this space!

As promised, here's some details from my 1,000 game sample of Spin & Gos and Jackpot SnGs on PokerStars and Full Tilt over the last couple of months.
First, the graphs:
Now, the Numbers:
Net Winnings: $1448.86
EV chips won: 51,704 or 51.7 chips per game.
ABI: $30.2
ROI: 5%
ITM: 37.2%
ROI based on ITM: ~7% (((1 + -1x) * -30) + (x * 56.4) = $2.1), where x is ITM of 37.2%)*
ROI based on chips won: ~9.8% (51.7* $0.0576 per chip = $2.977 per game)**
*based on 4% rake rather than current rake of 5%+
** method tbc.
Observations:
While 1k is not a large sample it's probably fair to say that any sample below, say, 20k games is going to be misleading as far as actual ROI goes. However, since in this format we're only interested in chip EV, our chips won over time provides the best indication of whether a player is likely to be profitable in the 'long term' (whatever that actually means).
I think most regs have underestimated how much skill is involved in this format. Postflop ability is key and just because professional players can no longer use ICM knowlege as a stick to beat the recreational players with, that doesn't mean this is a format where the recreational players are on level ground.
I'm always going to be a 6mx grinder at heart and so from a personal perspective, Spins have made my tough job even tougher. But I do think this is a genuine attempt by Stars to reinvigorate the ailing SNG market, and I think it just might succeed. If it doesn't.... well... there's always cash.

Tough month at the tables, while other areas went well. At lower buyins did reasonably well but crushed at higher stakes which was both tedious and... expensive. Staking and coaching ensured a small plus at the end of the month, but sadly nothing to write home about. On the plus side.... It's almost Christmas!!!
