I felt very lost when I didnt find the Hand Judgde Service. I lost like 15 minutes looking for it, I thought that I was crazy lol.

Its pretty sad that this service isnt anymore. It was truly great and one of the better things that Pokerstrategy had.

Hey strutis,

Make sure you check out our Highlighted Hands boards. This is where coaches will pull hand/s from the open discussion board to discuss more advanced concepts in greater detail.

Just mine humble opinion on subject.

First I loved Hand review. I didnt used it allmost non, just on rare ocassions when I was really in doubt or when I tilted. IT helped me to calm and read good progress of hand and thinking pattern. That is what is important for me.

When I read stuff that people tell here, and how they think that deserve to be awarded with That part of forum kinda make me sad.

In mine mind, I am playing good, 95% bc I learned it here. Bc people, coaches, helped me to think, to progress, to learn.

I am all around of a lot of poker forums. By far, here I lerned the most. Every penny or $ they have from mine rake is by far deserved and probable shoud me more. So when someone comes and tell stuff like, we deserve to get their hand judging forum, in mine mind, it sounds like they are ungratefull to all that someone did for them. It makes me a bit sad.

I am so greatfull that I am paying mine school bc of poker and bc of pokerstrategy. In some way, Hand Judge forum contributed to that, but not that much. We will adapt. still hands will be reviewed, and I am sure, if you like really need some hand, and you ask Bogdan, or anyone else from experiance member that they will for sure give like 2,3 minutes of there time and give you advice.

In mine social enviroment there are people who earn 180$ for a month of work. every day, 8 hours. Average pay is like 400~$ for solid jobe. So when I get like 200-300~$ on NL10 in like month for not steady work, 2,3 hours a day, some times more, that makes me happy. It would not be possible with out you guys.

So guys, coaches, ty for giving me knowledge and advices and your time. I am greatfull to PokerStrategy too for being awesome site by far best that is basicly in a sense, free.

And for all those who dont share same views, you are lucky that you are didnt saw bad part of life. Hope you never see it. Gl guys, I wish you best.

Sry for mine bad spelling.

Hey man, thx for your thoughts.

I just want to say that I'm grateful too (a lot!) for Pokerstrategy, that's why I'm still here.
But this forum exists to indeed give "Feedback and Suggestions", which is what I'm trying to do.

I'm not ungrateful for everything they do, I'm just sad and surprised that they took away one of their most unique, useful, and reliable features.

Anyway, what you are doing is great and gz for paying school with it!
And your english is not so bad, very easily understandable!

GL man ~

And especially among new users these numbers are extremely low - they generally seem to have a hard time getting used to hand evaluations, and since videos, coachings and articles are directly available and/or easier to use in general, they opt to use those instead.

At the beginning of my poker career, I was first 3 months just reading articles and watching videos, was constantly losing at NL2. After I started posting in forum, coach BogdanPS was mostly answering my threads, and pointed me out where I was making mistakes (I was off course not aware at all of my mistakes and how to improve them, there is nothing about it in videos and articles). I crashes limits from Nl2- NL10 just in few weeks with his help, using only forum and posting like 20-30 hands per day. After that struggled a bit with NL50, but purely from help of forum I could win with 5bb/100 winrate at NL100.
So I understand that most of users are lasy to post in forum, or unaware how valuable it is. My best friend plays NL50 and never posted in forum, even though I was telling him how good it is, he is just too lazy for that (forum takes time and patience, it is not much fun as playing poker). But first 3 months of my career, I was not aware of forum. Why? Because there was no commercial from ps.com (or very little). It was all the time very little commercial. I see often promotions, post in forum, and you get some small reward. But, I think it is not good way to attract people. Those rewards are very small, and you dont point them out how benefitial is forum.

Anyway, I think the reason why pokerstrategy doesn't anymore offer Hand Judging Service, is because they dont have enough coaches anymore to support it. So I think the problem is not number of users who post in forum, but coaches dont manage to answer all the post. One year ago, we had many more coaches. When I would post one year ago a hand in forum, my thread would be answered within hours. As the time was passing, I noticed there were less and less coaches answering the threads, and the wait time until the thread was answered was increasing constantly. In the last months, I had to wait for NL100 posted hands even a week to be answered (no problem for me), and the only coach who was answering was weasel, and just sometimes doubl2. coach mblm who was very active from beginning, disappeared as I noticed few months ago. I was looking lower limits, mostly BogdanBS was answering, and he had so many threads to answer, I was wondering how can he manage to answer all those threads in a short time. Thats why I think that coaches were in general not satisfied with benefits they get from they answering in forum, and stopped doing it, until we reached the point that only few coaches were left, not able to answer all threads.
And if you still have coaches that are willing to answer the threads (as far as I know, most of them do it voluntarily, not paid), why would you cancel "Hand Judging Service" even if low % of users uses it. So I think it is a bluff (the reason why the service is cancelled), I would "call your bluff", even though I am usually nitty when it comes to calling. It could be that you are not bluffing, and that coaches stopped answering because lack of users, which means lack of coaching for them. Yeah it is not a bluff, why would you bluff in this spot, sorry for that :)

You mentioned highlighted hands, I think it is great idea, but there were so few of them, and only few people answered them. Imo this concept would be even better and more beneficial than general forum. The videos are still great, but forum is incomparable better than videos. I watched almost all platinum and diamond videos, and the problem is that we dont get new videos every day, so I cant progress every day as I could with posting in forum.

Let's say each coach gets paid $1/hand he comments on (this is speculation, I've never been paid for commenting on hands etc) and you post 50 hands a month. Why not keep the service and use a tokens system. This way if you want to get 10 hands evaluated a month you buy 10 tokens. PokerStrategy don't lose any money because the coaches get paid directly, the players become better and the coaches still get paid. Coaches could even choose how much they charge/thread and you could choose which coaches token you bougt. They would be motivated to make posts as good as possible so people choose them over other coaches. Anybody could be s coach! It would be a free market and this would all be on PokerStrategy that would be driving great traffic here. You may even get really good coaches from other sites coming here and lerhals wanting to make videos for cheap to advertise themselves.

Let's not complain and say how shit everything is, people want their hands evaluated by qualified coaches. PokerStrategy doesn't think this is a profitable thing for them to do. I'm sure they've not just randomly decided and have actually don't skme research into this) it works for both parties.

Out of good will PokerStrategy could perhaps do promotions and raffles where they give away free tokens etc.

A lot of the threads weren't great anyway they would be something like.

Hi,

Fold flop, he has a strong range this is not profitable

Instead we would have much better responses, much better discussions and much better boards in general.

Some people feel rude coming into somebody else's thread and bothering a coach again, now they have the option of reopening a thread and asking a question, this way they won't be bad as they would be using a token to do so.

It's probably better to pay 20$ and get 20 amazing responses than pay nothing and get 20 meh responses. I'm pretty sure you will make back your 20$ in equity At the tables.

Anybody like this idea?

Hi, Thats great idea. As extensive user of forum i was telling to many coaches that it would be much better if they would tell me how they play the whole range in the spot (doesnt have to be in great details, just rough idea), and not how to play the single hand. In that case, I could see so many mistakes I make in only one thread, and so many ideas how to improve. I was usually posting 20-30 hands a day (on the day I play poker), but with ranges evaluations from coach I would post 1 hand per day. I got answers from coaches, yes I agree it would be better answer, but it would take us too much time, and they dont want to give hints about ranges, pay for coaching (I agreed on that). Only weasel was answering me whatever I asked about ranges, and more than I asked.

So I would pay if coach would provide me ranges how they play the hand, but most importantly, why that way the range is constructed. And I would really like to get answers from best coaches, like Internet, Pleno1 etc. E.g. I read my first poker book few months ago, "Applications of no limit holdem" from Janda, and he gave only 10 examples about range constructions, and I learned so much in that. Before the book I was having 2bb/100 hands at NL100, and after I had 5bb.

Now it is the question how efficient would that forum be. Someone might think, why should I pay for my hand evaluation from coach, if all other users may read it for free. The other problem is, when I was playing NL2-NL10, I learned to play poker from BogdanBS and Weasel using this forum, but if I would have to pay, I would not, it would be too expensive for given bankroll. And today when I have money to pay, I would pay. Also, why would it be payed per hand, why not payed subscribtion per month, e.g. 50$ for low limits and average coaches, and 200$ for Internet, Pleno1. And in that case, everybody who is subscribed can read all other hands, and people who are not subscribed they cant.

I just hope that the reason to shut down this service is not, letting us realize how good the forum for us was, how good the coaches were when they were answering for free, and when we who are forum-addicted start to miss it, then we will be ready to pay for it, and then Pleno comes with this out of nowhere idea.

Wouldn't it also be a good idea to bring back a hand evaluation coaching now that the handevaluation forums don't exist anymore?

Hey sirilidion,

BogdanPS has been running a series over the last 4 weeks called Hand Evaluation Live Coachings for the next 4 weeks (different topic every sessions). Unfortunately this series has ended for the time being although Bogdan does hint that it is the first part of a series. Parts 1 and 2 have been released as Thin Valuebets and C-Bet Turn. Parts 3 and 4, 3 Barrels and Passive Blind Defence will be released shortly.

Regards

Laz

Likely because on those forums people still have enough traffic and are willing to volunteer as hand judges, meaning that it is still +EV for both coaches and pokerstrategy. Ok, I will learn Italian, or Polish.

Personally, I'm a bit lost without that service now :(

Whatever, I guess there is a niche for this now, I am open to discussion.

Actually I was thinking of adding some hand-eval packages to my private coaching thread.

Never one to miss a trick eh!
Walk through series is awesome btw. I'm going to have to get gold now to complete it.

On the subject of the hand evaluations. I didn't even know it was gone so that's how much I used it. Although I'm pretty sad it's not there for me to use any more.

IMO, many of the hands posted can be categorised to certain situations anyway so we can benefit from the new format (which I haven't checked out yet) in the same way. It may even push people to study harder instead of just looking for validation that they made the right move (or not) for A hand.

Pokerstrategy continues to offer so much for what I think is a reasonable price. I pay for my status and am more than happy with what I get.

I'm actually really curious to see the response to this.

https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=238318

I've updated my coaching thread to include HH evals at similar rates to that which I was being paid by pokerstrategy.

The interesting part is, if any of you think it is not financially viable then you likely should not be complaining in this thread that pokerstrategy.com decided to discontinue the service. If all is well with the prices then you can continue to enjoy the service at the same rates it was costing pokerstrategy.com.

So I guess we get to find out if it was really as valuable as some of you claim

Gl

I think everyone would be more than happy to pay for this service directly with what we rake, unfortunately the former middleman seems to like (almost) free money more than anything else. We can always learn some polish/italian I guess :yaoming:

10 hand evals -$15
20 hand evals - $30
50 hand evals - $60
100 hand evals - $100

I heard before that coaches were paid very little by pokerstrategy for evaluations, but such prices are really almost for free. I think pokerstrategy exploited coaches in this way (cheap labor). I understand that coaches have commercial for coachings this way, and they practice hand analyses this way, but still it is almost as doing it for free (your hour rate for this is almost like working in mcdonalds, considering how much effort and knowledge you put for this.

Anyway, I would be interested for hand evaluations, but not for so cheap prices. I am interested in whole range evaluation, something like Janda did, 10 examples in his book "Application of no limit holdem". If you didnt read it (but I am sure you did), he first analyses ranges on all streets for one villian, then for other. I would like to send you such range analyses for typical boards, positions, preflop action, and would expect your feedback, how to improve it. Would it be possible? Are you good at range constructions? Also prices for such special format?

Can I please have an aswer why this is a good business on the polish section and a bad one here? They need status like we do. Their judges are paid like ours. What is the difference? (apart from the fact that they will start riots :badteeth: ) Are you going to shut them too?

BTW Nice move PokerStrategy. Almost the same rake (maybe few user will decide to stop buying staus/move to better RB no linked poker room) + you don't have to pay judges = :profit: . Of course with such greedy plans there is always a chance that something will go wrong... did you take it in mind?

I know I'm changing nothing and I don't really hope for any hones answer, but at least I practice writing in English :milord:

Lol, there is no point venting at me. This affects me more than anyone in the thread since I have lost a chunk of income.

Anyway, I believe it's a combination of those things. Only a small percentage of users were actually using the boards yet it was costing pokerstrategy.com a decent amount of $. Pretty sure it's about $ and making the business model more efficient, and it's difficult to really have problems with that, it's what any business should do.
