Yeah, and with 41% ROI pokerstrategy will become hardcore rich O.o

Well the 41% roi was a total for everyone, including people that never had stakes.

This BOD's costs PokerStrategy money. All the stakes winnings is paid out to the top players in terms of higher stakes.

I guess this season has cost PokerStrategy, about $600-$700, without doing the math. Plus, the man hours and wages to pay certain people.

So if we up the buyin (remember it used to be an $11 buyin), then it just costs PokerStrategy more and more money. Just so 20-30 players (out of +million players) can have fun.

I just think PS is doing something great here, but it seems like people always want more. It's good that we should try and make this tournament better, but requesting that PS inputs more money is pretty selfish IMO.

I think people should have to do more than just ask, in order to be staked. Thats why there should be regular promotions, instead of just begging imo. But we cant run promos, until all qualified members are allocated to their teams. Which is usually done on the day by alot of people.

I think you guys are forgetting that all the money that was paid back from stakes was actually re-invested into the prize pool which was distributed at the end of the season. Essentially no money at all came back from the staking - meaning the BotD was actually over $1,300 in costs with 0 return except for community fun.

The entire concept of simply "staking everyone and taking higher buy-ins" is also not quite as easy as described. Even if we didn't re-invest the money into giving more incentive to the winners - our high ROI comes mainly from sidewalkers final table appearance (which was not staked btw). In the first round where the money didn't flow back to the community - most teams actually had a negative ROI and the staking is definitely not +EV for us ;)

I would like to have some fun concepts that we think up together - and I don't really care if they are a bit different from usual. I personally would be interested in some kind of PokerStrategy-WSOP where we play community tournaments. There are also various other options such as making some fixed country teams / generally using fixed teams that use same players / completely changing the way staking works (since a lot of people might not need stakes) etc. etc. etc.

Just be creative ;)

Great!
Fist of all, what I said would be "selfish" If I was already fully informed about all the spending Pokerstrategy had been doing. Again IT WAS A SUGGESTION, where we have to take in the fact that I didn't know the modality about how things works. So maybe it's wiser if you don't take it as "selfish", but more as a bad suggestion (there is a difference). I could well do as many people, shut up, and don't give suggestions because it could be wrong and selfish. But I didn't do it because I care about this competition, and not in a Selfish way.

I like the Pokerstrategy-WSOP Idea. where we have a private tournament like the 10K freeroll qualifier. But this time it can be with small buy-ins(1 to 5) which can be raised to pay for the final prices. So pokertrategy won't have to invest a dime except maybe to stake those who cannot afford it. Still selfish?

I want to say that fact that this cost some money for PS is just normal. PS offers product which in this case is poker strategy articles, videos, coachings, forum. We, players, are customers and we buy stuff from PS by playing on tracked sites. To keep money comming in and keep customers happy PS have to make some advertisement campaigns, events, promotions etc. And spending 1,3k in 3 months doesnt seem so bad. Dont think PS will go bankrupt because of this. There could be ways to make this more profitable for PS but its up to them to take certain actions or no.

I dont think its good idea to move to higher buyin tournaments, simply because i feel that start time for this is good, cost is good and its just as fun. Less buying would suck seriously tho - it would be much closer to playing freeroll than real tourney.

One feedback i have is - there was one tourney some time ago for comunity. Like 60+ enterants all from PS, all with their own buyins just playing. That tourney was one of the most fun tourney i have had. Seriously. I would really like to see some tourneys like that in future. It could be included in BOD or not, its not that important.

I imagine something like this:

5 teams (maybe more) get initial team bankroll. (eg 100$)

each team recruits community members, and

1st stage begins; all players play $1 or 2$ tourneys (to play within brm).
ALL winnings go back to the teams purse.

when 250$ is collected, 5 best players from each team go to stage

2; and become fixed team that won't change.

Then they start playing $5 (15k gtd).
All winnings except final table winnings go back to teams br.
Final table (if any) winnings go to players 100%.

First team to reach 500$ is the winner and gets all the money from all teams.

I had a blast once again in the BotD. Next round I'll do much better!

hmmm I'll have to think about this more when I have more time but for now.

I think what ever tourney we chose it should start earlier. I'm in Canada and the 15k started at 11am but for others its 7pm or later.

I also think because there are silver and bronze medals that they should be worth points. gold 6 silver 4 bronze 2 etc... this would make the round more interesting. Give lower ranked teams a chance to come back.

Regarding the round prize pool 215$ and 55$ etc..I think last round worked great but i think in the future we should have a different point system for winners. This would also make for a competitive race for tickets.

have different categories

tourneys played
cash won
average placing

Then apply a points system to these categories. Could do something like take top 20 players at the end of bod round and apply a 1-20 point rating for each category. best result gets 20points for cash, but may only get 13 points for games played and 10 points for average... it will just make for closer races among players.

Maybe prize payout should be a WSOP ME qualifier like the 33$ Rebuy or something. So each player would get 5x bi. 2 double rebuys and a addon. This gives chance for variance and if the person only needed to use 99$ they can keep the rest obv. Maybe this could be a way to get players going to WSOP through PS community events.

so each top player gets 165$ maybe 5 top winners in total. Say ten 5$ bi are give out to the 33$ qualifier for runner ups. The 33$ qualifier gives 99$ for every 99$ in prize pool.

so 900$ pool would give five players a really good shot at the WSOP ME and it would give 15 other players a chance to make the 33$ R.

I also think we should have more team spots open if people have to be on a team for their points to count. maybe this structure can be revamped.

I'll stop there but i have many cool ideas just no time atm.

I think that everyone or nobody on the teams should be staked (I dont mind paying my own way and keeping my profits, but find this a bit greedy considering the team/community aspect of the compo) . Since it could get pricey staking everyone PS takes back the $$ from the winnings to reload for next week. This gets balanced out by giving the winners a chunk of the profit 30%-50%. Since the bottom members of the teams get replaced every week the better players will be on the teams and ROI should be +ive (someone will score big sooner or later).

Community team members get no stake and no points they are on a try out.

I'm not really experienced enough to comment with any authority on the existing BOTD. Played in just the last one & railed a couple of others.

I would however say that it, like the International league were tremendous fun and I enjoyed the company of all who took part/turned up to support.

I personally would prefer the buy in to stay low (max $5), this is at the top end (well a little above) by BR & couldn't afford to take part if higher unless won seat etc. Think a number of other community members would be in the same position.
Also agree that the "added value" provided by PS whilst very much appreciated needs to remain manageable.

I love the idea of an International BOTD or league tourney again. Maybe you could have a normal BOTD and then the top 3 or 4 from each community play the other communities.

Will try to think of other suggestions over time, brain's not working at the moment

Bart.

i think 50% of the money earned through staking should go towards staking for the next weeks BOTD and the other 50% should go towards the prize pool.
Cardbender: I also live in Canada and the tourny is 11 am local time here too. I also would not mind a earlier tourny (ie: 5000$ Guarentee which is 4 hours earlier)

The private tournement done a few months back was pretty fun, I think playing these in a league format would be quite good.

Perhaps adding lhe and plo tourneys once in awhile :P

While this overall leads to a negative expected value for the community as a whole, playing against half decent players, im sure will help many of us to learn alot more about the game that is poker.

I kind of like erptech idea.

I like the buyin low as we did have the $11 buyin and reduced the number to allow others to get involved.

I like the idea of a draft system have 5 or 6 captains who generally play everyweek. then everyone who wants to play confirms by Friday. All players are put into a pool and the captains then take turns picking players till all teams are filled. Alternates are placed in the community team if needed to fill a spot or to because of no shows or what not. Picking order can go in order of placing the previous week.

This would allow teams to be creative in their selection process. To build a strong team the stronger players will be picked which is +ev for the prize pool. Captains will have to scout other players which brings more railing and supporting other players not just those on your team.

As well this is a community event and basically the staked players are building the prizepool maybe to be fair to all staked players return 50% and non staked player contribute 10 to 20% to the prizepool this way if they win a prize at least they would have may a contribution.

A few community based private tournaments would be fun as well with low buyin's say $5 to $10.

I'm happy to have played in these tournaments as I'm learning so much from this community.

I had an absolute blast this season.
Thanks Soy, All Team leaders, All participants and last but not least MEDIA MANIACS.

MEDIA MANIACS FOR LIFE :)

I have two things to say:

1st. In the spanish forum we have a BOTD that is quite different from yours. We used to play at the 200k guaranteed the same way you guys do... but now we play in a private 5.50$ buy in BOTD tourney.

The teams gains points according to the average position of the team members. Teams are fixed but sustitutions are possible.

The low buy in and the way we play made it possible for many players to team up and try to win the BOTD. 20 teams played the spanish BOTD!

2nd. The team GAMEOVER finished first at the spanish Battle of the Donkeys.

*We challenge the winner of the english BOTD!

No teasing phrases will be used in this message, this is a formal invitation to an arranged challenge between both teams in an ADMIN's choice tourney.

*Spanish BOTD is not over yet but we have won with one match to came.

By the way, the spanish forum tourney awards prizes to both a team category and an individual category based on the money won after 12 matches.

Hope you can use some of this info.
