Hey Mate,

Im located in Central Queensland, been playing for 14 months.
5 Months ago joined Pokerstrategy. Got up to Platinum.
Went live at Brisbane, first attempt recently. lost a bit.
At the moment am doing first major audit on my game to, plug leaks, etc.
Am trying trial version of Holdem Manager software (HEM), looks promising.

Where are u located, do/have u played live ?
Whats been your poker journey/experience ?
Do u trust that the online poker is truly legitimate ?

I intend to re - locate at some stage to live near a casino and play professionally.

Am possibly interested in setting up a "Poker House", somewhere at that stage.

What limits are you playing?
I'm currently living in Newcastle (2 hours north of Sydney).
I play live games regularly, not as much as I like but I work for a Poker company called Aussie Hold'em Poker.
It's mainly based in Newcastle but slowly spreading down to Sydney and as far as Port Macquarie.

Poker Journey, I pretty much started as a Live MTT player.
That's were I'm most comfortable and strongest.
It's only the last 8 months or so I've slowly adapted to Online Poker.
Took me awhile.
And as for online poker being legitimate or rigged, I think its a load of crap, its not rigged, its 100% legit, the only thing that goes wrong on Online poker is the players using multiple accounts and collusion.

There isn't anymore straights or flushes being dealt on stars than there is on PartyPoker or any of that weird stuff.

There is Jupiters up in Brisbane somewhere isnt there?
other than that there is Star city in sydney and Crown casino in melbourne, goodluck turning pro.

I don't really play live, only place to play is really local clubs and star city. Don't really like star city, $1/2 blinds with max 80 buyin and a $5 fee per hour doesn't sound too enticing to me.
Anyone in syd found there's a lot of fish there? I just find online is more convenient, although i'm still playing NL5/10 when i play cash because i'm almost completely lost, seems totally different to SnGs.

What kind of tournaments you looking for Gunflavoured?
Live or online?
There's heaps of online tournaments at decent times for aussies on stars, i'm planning to make a move there once i get a specific bank account for online poker.
Don't wanna risk having my savings stolen.

I'm in Sydney. I started off playing MTT in live freerolls with 'those' companies.

Now I play FL online and hopefully I'll head into the casino soon and give it a run there. I haven't had a chance to play a lot lately but I have holidays soon and will be playing lots.

Anyone else play FL? I'm struggling to find other Aussies who are interested. Mostly to do with the pub poker I think, so most people like SNG or NL. It'd be good to have another local to bounce Ideas off though.

Anyone started an Aussie group in the community yet? If not I may get one going, let me know if your interested or if you set one up so I can join

Yeah we hold NL Holdem Tournaments mostly around the Newcastle Area at pubs and clubs.
We also do Casino nights for functions where we provide Blackjack, Roulette and Poker.

oh thats cool Kyle, sounds like a fun job.

@Chazza, there's an Australian community in PS already, not too many people have joined yet though haha.
Sadly i don't play FL either haha.. but i'm really sucking at cash in general.

once again, it all comes down to the perseption of amature v. professional.

Joe Hachem's WSOP win in 05 was heavy looked at by the tax office. i think he was ok in the end, but i do beleive that "professional gamblers" do have to declare their winnings.

but i do beleive there is a way of fighting it if you hold another job that you do more hours at a week. This is your main source of income even though it may be lower than gambling winnings, you gamble less hours a week.

i can't be certain, but i was sure that i have heard something along those lines.

I'm looking for some decent big online tournaments, I'm on stars atm and all the good ones start at 4am. I guess I could go in the 180 person regular ones, I think I'm just being picky lol.
