CO shows 7  8

CO wins $9.65
(Rake: $0.42)

I didn't put villain's hand in his range because of the bet on the flop (this was a mistake now I consider his position). I thought he was playing with two overcards or maybe a middle pair.

Where did I go so wrong?

Cheers

I do not like to open this hand from UTG in FR.
When MW, I like to lead solid on flop. Your min-raise do not achieve anything - does not extract more value. Raise solid on flop.
On river I think bet/folding is better.

Thanks Nitrol. I'm not entirely sure why I played this hand from UTG to be honest. I wouldn't usually.

Just wondering, what do you mean by MW?

multi-way. You are not vs1 opponent but vs 2.

Biggest mistake was the river. you bet pot ott and was called, so villain probably has a Q or J or 2 pair plus sometimes or potentially a straight draw like in this hand. So x/r on the river is not so good i think. It's not like villain has hands he will want to bluff with, and many hands will check back otr. When he does bet you shouldn't even be happy to shove all in since he should just have a set+ or a total bluff. You're kind of just praying to god that he has QJ or impossibly rivered a set of 4s. Definitely bet river yourself to get value from a J or Q or some random 65s etc.

I don´t play FR so I don´t know if limping low PP is still standard play from EP as it was several years ago.

As played I would lead flop and go for value on all streets by beting not x/r

hero playing 21/10 over 2k hands.... stop limping man

on the river it's close and i think overall the whole hand is abit FPS - don't trust others to bet here I would just bet bet bet and probably fold to a river raise if I was playing A game

If you wanted to check raise, bet the flop then check raise turn

Yeah, is limping still standard there? I remember a couple of years ago when it was advised in strategy articles. Leading the flop would be a standard option when hitting a set multi-way, but nothing wrong with check raising. I would make a bigger sizing, though, at least 3x of a raise size, but probably bigger since he bets so small. Then we should bet the turn and we come to the river where I'm not sure what to do, but I believe we can bet/fold because I can't see much worse hands raising that didn't raise the turn.

I will not limp nor open 55 from UTG in FR.
The big gap between vpip and pfr tells you limp or call much than you raise.

In the end its a cooler (not really just a hard board) you can do nothing about it. BUt you can look for the signs that maybe something fishy is going on. But there are quite a lot of other problems. :f_smile: (because i was asked )

Go in the strategy section and look for the article about the BRM Bankrollmanagment (Limit and Buyins.)
Also look for an Openraise Chart and look how they suggest it. Openlimp from EP is not a bad play but on the long run you will not play it profitable enough. So raise it or fold it in EP. Openlimp is ok from the Mp if you like.

Since i played against you i know for FR you are quite loose. YOu have SH stats . Reconsider the ranges that you are playing and read the articles. I know the suggestion there are quite tight, but they want to protect you from too many tough spots.

And for the hand.

Lead the flop is ok and like nitrol Check/Raise 3-3,5times the raise
Turn is perfect you want value. But, with the overcard the bet is maybe a bit to high because you have to think about with what hand is he going to call with. But good job. After his call you really have to think what hand he is having since he is not afraid of the Overcard. So really set, Straightdraw and QJ or AJ comes to mind and soldom worse.

WIth this information the river card is not really nice. With a another card i would suggest a nice Value bet. With our guess c/C (check/call) is nice here. We want to see the showdown but we didnt want to get raised. Under these conditions for this hand since there is not much danger on the board i would play it like that. So your opponent gets the chance to bet even worse hands.

You can not win every hand. Thats Poker Be patiented read more articles post your hands and the succes will come after time. Winning is fun and without learning how to play poker you have not as much fun as when you get a nice fat pot of gold just because your know what you doing and played well.

I really appreciate all of the responses :f_thumbsup: I definitely have a lot of studying to do. I'll have a look for an openraise chart, tighten my range and try to stop limping so much.

Since these are things I really already know I should be doing, I've started writing post-it notes for whenever I'm playing. I'll carry on adding to it as and when I find more holes in my game.

Thanks again everyone.

that one about taking your time is pretty important. especially on the river i'm trying harder especially facing a bet to really think about it before i fold or call. you can really increase your winnings by doing this one!

By not taking your time and act automatically, you turn yourself into a button-clicking monkey, that all regs like to play against. :)

I'm really bad for it, if I've committed to a pot and get married to my hand I lose sight of what potential hands have come up for my opponents. I always lose sets to straights on the river and such, so that's probably the most important one for me. And not bluffing on the river.. at these stakes anyway. :f_ugly:

Everytime you take an aggresive action you should ask yourself which hands will continue. Probably you can´t count combos in game but just to have some estimate - OK, river raise, probably don´t call TP so often. Which better hands are possible. Which worse strong hands are possible. Of course it´s very player type dependend as well.

You are right. We should have a target group of hands for that aggressive action. We should know not only what do we want to achieve, but what hands are we targetting.
